This package is a drop-in replacement for the standard library hash/crc32
package, that
features SSE 4.2 optimizations on x64 platforms, for a 10x speedup.

This is a requirement for golang-github-klauspost-compress.

* Package name: brotli

  Description : generic-purpose lossless compression algorithm and format

Brotli is a generic-purpose lossless compression algorithm
that compresses data using a combination of a modern variant
of the LZ77 algorithm, Huffman coding and 2nd order context modeling,
with a compression ratio comparable to the best currently available
general-purpose compression methods. It is similar in speed with
deflate but offers more dense compression.

'mdp' is a command-line program that allows you to make elegant presentations
 from markdown formatted files.
 .
 It is as easy as write your presentation content in the text editor of your
 preference and launch the presentation from the command-line.

It is more or less upstream-active with a release each 1-4 months. I plan
to use collab-maint to maintain it. It would be nice to have co-maintainers
and sponsors (because I'm a non-uploading DD).

 fcapture is a utility to capture and dump IPv4 TCP/UDP flow information

 fcapture can monitor high speed links and is more frugal in terms of disk

Nor is this code actively developed by upstream (me) any more; it was
experimental code I wrote as a part of university research, and there
are much better alternatives available in the archive anyway.

Bug#805704: Debian packaging for Inform 6 (was: Components of Inform 6 code base)

Yes, certainly. So far there are three distinct packages, here is how
to get the packaging work for each of them::

$ mkdir --parents ~/Projects/inform6/
$ cd ~/Projects/inform6/
$ bzr branch --bind
http://anonscm.debian.org/bzr/collab-maint/pkg-inform6/trunk/

$ mkdir ~/Projects/inform6/inform6-compiler/
$ cd ~/Projects/inform6/inform6-compiler/
$ bzr branch --bind
http://anonscm.debian.org/bzr/collab-maint/pkg-inform6/inform6-compiler/trunk/

$ mkdir ~/Projects/inform6/inform6-library/
$ cd ~/Projects/inform6/inform6-library/
$ bzr branch --bind
http://anonscm.debian.org/bzr/collab-maint/pkg-inform6/inform6-library/trunk/

Each of those branches — a ‘trunk’ branch for each distinct package
I'm working on – contains only the Debian overlay to the upstream
source files. A Debian source package is made by overlaying that onto
the upstream source extracted from the original tarball.

> I feel there may be stuff that I can use in there, particularly
> something simpler to replace the autoconf/automake system I have.

Fair warning: You might find less to use than you'd hope to.

I'll direct you to the ‘inform6/trunk/debian/README.source’ document
to understand some of the decisions made for the Debian packages.

  Description : Simplifies usage of Java Service Provider Interface

 The usage of the Service Provider Interface in Java is a great way to
make your
 program more extensible. However, implementing and distributing such an
 Interface is error prone.
 .
 One of the reasons is that the system depends on naming schemes and
text files.
 The name of an implementation should be put in a text file, located on the
 classpath in a folder called META-INF/services/.
 .
 This project allows the programmer to use an Annotation, @ProviderFor,
to flag
 a class as an implementation of a certain interface. During
compilation, the
 necessary files are created at the appropriate locations. Also, the
class is
 inspected to see if it follows all rules applicable to Service Providers.
 Compile time errors will be generated if those rules are broken,
assisting the
 programmer to create more robust code.

Ok cool. If there are any Perl modules remaining, please do look through and
see if anyone has an ITP/RFP files and if not, file an ITP yourself. There
is a #debian-perl IRC channel on irc.debian.org that can offer help with
packaging Perl modules, as well as a Perl modules team.

I'm happy to sponsor uploads of modules and of netdot itself, but may have
to check with the Perl team if there are bits I don't understand for Perl
specific packaging quirks.

Thanks,
Iain.

Bug#605079: netdot in Debian

2015-12-15 Thread Iain R. Learmonth
Hi,

I saw you filed a bug regarding netdot in Debian. I can't quite tell if you
were requesting that someone package the software or if you were intending
to package it yourself as there is not really much information in the bug
log.

  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=605079

If you were intending to package the software but just did not recieve much
in the way of support, I'd like to offer to sponsor this package into the
archive for you, though I'm not too familiar with Perl and so may not be
able to help with some of the Perl specific details.

Please keep the bug email address in CC when you reply so that the
information can be added to the bug log.

Thanks,
Iain.

Package: libfltk
Version: libfltk1.1
Severity: wishlist

The fltk2 is getting more popular, so I think it would be god to package
it for Debian paralelly with version 1.1.
The most significant feature from my point of view is better handling of
international characters.

Bug#605079: netdot in Debian

2015-12-15 Thread Carlos Vicente
Hello Iain,

I originally intended to package it myself. I started with all the missing Perl
modules that were not included in Debian. That took an enormous amount of time,
but I believe that most of the modules were included. After that, I changed
jobs, had more kids… you know how it goes :-)

I would love to continue this work and ultimately have a netdot package
available in Debian, so I will gladly accept any help you can provide.

Best,

cv

Bug#808048: O: live-build

2015-12-15 Thread Iain R. Learmonth
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

The live-build package was previously maintained by Daniel Baumann, who
has retired from the Debian Project.

There has not yet been anyone come forward as a new technical lead for
the package, and as per Debian Policy §5.6.3, the package was orphaned
when Daniel removed himself from the Uploaders field.

I have performed an upload that converts this package to a native
package and includes any already committed changes. I have also updated
the Homepage and Vcs-* urls for the package. (I'm aware the Homepage
field doesn't currently go anywhere, these pages are a work-in-progress
as they used to be on Daniel's server, which has now been shut down).

This is a native package to Debian, not a package of upstream sources,
and so this package will take more time and effort to maintain than
other packages in Debian. Please be aware of this before taking
responsibility for it.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

The Debian Live team is very happy for development to continue within
the team, we just do not currently have anyone with enough time
available to look after this package and maintain its quality to a high
standard.

If you'd like to speak to the team, please contact
debian-l...@lists.debian.org or join #debian-live on irc.debian.org.

Thanks,
Iain.

Hi Alexandre,

I've said I'm going to help with the Packer requirements and toggled this also
to ITP.
You've been quicker with your upload and in this case it's o.k. for me, I'm
really glad
to the see that there's so much power to work on requests in the group.

Let's do it in two ways in the future, I'm generally going to leave the RFPs
when I've
filed them, but rechecking before doing any action won't do any harm, either.

Joachim,

thank you for picking this up. The package is up for adoption so
essentially you are free to do as you please. Thanks for asking. You
might want to consider to do as I did which was to upload a separate new
package that built and for the sake of higher version took over one of
the binary packages of the old isdnutils source package. The left-over
still remains. This approach requires to pass through NEW but that is
the cleanest solution. isdnutils can then either continue to exist or
eventually die off. I don't feel like killing it explicitly.

Regards

Rolf

  Description : fast, secure and flexible NetFlow collector

flowd is a small, fast and secure NetFlow collector. It offers the
following features:
  * NetFlow protocol 1, 5, 7 and 9 (including IPv6 flows)
  * IPv4 and IPv6 transport of flows
  * filtering and tagging of flows
  * compact binary format for flow storage
  * Perl and Python interface for parsing on-disk record format

flowd works with any standard NetFlow exporter, including hardware
devices (e.g. routers) or software flow tracking agents.

The flowd sensor follows the Unix philosophy of "doing one thing well"
- - it doesn't try to do anything beyond accepting NetFlow packets and
storing them in a standard format on disk. In particular, it does not
include support for storing flows in multiple formats or performing
data analysis. That sort of thing is left to external tools. The
source distribution includes several example tools including a basic
reporting script and one to store flows in a SQL database.

As the code is no longer actively maintained upstream, this is not a good
candidate for packaging in Debian. For this reason I am closing this bug.
