Cool :-)

So, I just sent a RFS for the 2.5.1-1 to Tanguy (which has already sponsored the
glances packages in the past).

The acorn package needs a new maintainer.

I packaged it initially because it's part of the OpenLayers 3 dependency
chain. Since it won't be possible to complete the OpenLayers 3 packaging
due to the unsolved bundling of small Node.js packages problem, I'm no
longer interested in the OpenLayers 3 dependencies.

The package is maintained within the JavaScript team, it mostly needs a
new uploader.

According to uscan(1) [1], it does look like ds is more appropriate in

I haven't. I'd have to do some investigative work to find a valid email

Bug#813852: ITP: knowl.js -- JavaScript library for transclusion of supplementary information

  Programming Lang: JavaScript
  Description : JavaScript library for transclusion of supplementary
information

Like the familiar hyperlink, knowls can be used to provide relevant,
supplementary information and are referenced from within the body of a web
page. But unlike the hyperlink, which simply takes you to a new web page, the
knowl conveniently serves up the information at your original location with the
click of a mouse button. With a similar click, the knowl then disappears.

I plan to maintain knowl.js as a member of the Debian JavaScript Team.

  Description : wicked-fast transcript quantification from RNA-seq data

Salmon is a wicked-fast program to produce a highly-accurate,
transcript-level quantification estimates from RNA-seq data. Salmon
achieves is accuracy and speed via a number of different innovations,
including the use of lightweight alignments (accurate but fast-to-compute
proxies for traditional read alignments) and massively-parallel stochastic
collapsed variational inference.

The result is a versatile tool that fits nicely into many different
pipelines. For example, you can choose to make use of our lightweight
alignments by providing Salmon with raw sequencing reads, or, if it is more
convenient, you can provide Salmon with regular alignments (e.g. computed
with your favorite aligner), and it will use the same wicked-fast,
state-of-the-art inference algorithm to estimate transcript-level
abundances for your experiment.

This package will be maintained as part of the Debian Med packaging team.

The interval package for real-valued interval arithmetic allows to evaluate
functions over subsets of their domain. All results are verified, because
interval computations automatically keep track of any errors. These concepts
can be used to handle uncertainties, estimate arithmetic errors and produce
reliable results. Also it can be applied to computer-assisted proofs,
constraint programming, and verified computing. The implementation is based on
interval boundaries represented by binary64 numbers and is conforming to IEEE
Std 1788-2015, IEEE standard for interval arithmetic.

The package will be maintained by the DebianOctaveGroup and, upstream, by the
Octave Forge Community. The package is a reference implementation of the
recently published IEEE standard for interval arithmetic. It may be used as a
free replacement for the proprietary INTLAB toolbox. The latter has been widely
used in education for computer arithmetic, for example in the book
“Introduction to Interval Analysis” (2009) by Ramon E. Moore, R. Baker
Kearfott, and Michael J. Cloud.

In contrast to libmpfi and python-mpmath this package provides more
functionality, but is limited to the binary64 data type.

Some efforts to package have already been made, see
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-octave/octave-interval.git/

  Description : high speed stand alone pan genome pipeline

Roary is a high speed stand alone pan genome pipeline, which takes annotated
assemblies in GFF3 format (as produced, for instance, by Prokka) and calculates
the pan genome. Using a standard desktop PC, it can analyse datasets with
thousands of samples, something which is computationally infeasible with
existing methods, without compromising the quality of the results. 128 samples
can be analysed in under 1 hour using 1 GB of RAM and a single processor.
To perform this analysis using existing methods would take weeks and hundreds
of GB of RAM. Roary is not intended for meta-genomics or for comparing
extremely diverse sets of genomes.

This package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Med
Packaging Team.

OSRAM LIGHTIFY (www.osram.com/lightify) are intelligent lighting products,
which are controlled via a ZigBee protocol. OSRAM offers a so-called gateway
which will bridge WiFi to ZigBee.
This library is inteneded to talk directly to the Gateway to command the lamps
and accessories.

I'm also upstream author of this package and I plan to maintain it in
collab-maint.

(Fun Fact: The first lines of code have been written at DebConf 15 this year.)

  Description : generic-purpose lossless compression algorithm and format

Brotli is a generic-purpose lossless compression algorithm
that compresses data using a combination of a modern variant
of the LZ77 algorithm, Huffman coding and 2nd order context modeling,
with a compression ratio comparable to the best currently available
general-purpose compression methods. It is similar in speed with
deflate but offers more dense compression.

Hi,

is this package still useful? Popcon reports a single installation at
the moment (the maximum was 16 in 2008).

hapm is at the moment the only package left depending on heartbeat,
which the Debian HA group would rather like to get removed as we have
corosync.

Could we remove hapm from Debian?

* Package name: r-cran-formatr
  Version : 1.2.1
  Upstream Author : Yihui Xie
* URL : https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/formatR/ ,
http://yihui.name/formatR
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: R
  Description : R package which formats R code automatically - formatR

Provides a function tidy_source() to format R source code. Spaces
and indent will be added to the code automatically, and comments will be
preserved under certain conditions, so that R code will be more
human-readable and tidy. There is also a Shiny app as a user interface in
this package (see tidy_app()).

The R formatR package is a dependency for r-cran-knitr (ITP Bug#808155);
r-cran-knitr is needed for RStudio's Shiny Server.

I'll work on the packaging using debian-science's git at Alioth, at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=debian-science/packages/r-cran-formatr.git .

  Upstream Author : Julien Bect, Emmanuel Vazquez and others
* URL : http://octave.sourceforge.net/stk/
* License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: Octave, C
  Description : (not so) Small Toolbox for Kriging

The STK is a (not so) Small Toolbox for Kriging. Its primary focus
is on the interpolation/regression technique known as kriging,
which is very closely related to Splines and Radial Basis
Functions, and can be interpreted as a non-parametric Bayesian
method using a Gaussian Process (GP) prior. The STK also provides
tools for the sequential and non-sequential design of experiments.
Even though it is, currently, mostly geared towards the Design
and Analysis of Computer Experiments (DACE), the STK can be useful
for other applications areas (such as Geostatistics, Machine
Learning, Non-parametric Regression, etc.).

NOTE: The STK a package from the Octave Forge project [1], and will
be packaged and maintained for Debian within the Debian Octave Group [2].

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Philipp Huebner

* Package name: erlang-luerl
  Version : 0.2015.12.10
  Upstream Author : Robert Virding
* URL : https://github.com/rvirding/luerl
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Erlang
  Description : implementation of Lua in Erlang

 An experimental implementation of Lua 5.2 written solely in pure Erlang
 .
 When to use Luerl:
 .
 Fast Language Switch: Luerl should allow you to switch between Erlang and Lua
 incredibly fast, introducing a way to use very small bits of logic programmed
 in Lua, inside an Erlang application, with good performance.
 .
 Multicore: Luerl provides a way to transparently utilize multicores. The
 underlying Erlang VM takes care of the distribution.
 .
 Microprocesses: It should give you a Lua environment that allows you to
 effortlessly run tens of thousands of Lua processes in parallel, leveraging
 the famed microprocesses implementation of the Erlang VM. The empty Luerl
 State footprint will be yet smaller than the C Lua State footprint.
 .
 Forking Up: Because of the immutable nature of the Luerl VM, it becomes a
 natural operation to use the same Lua State as a starting point for multiple
 parallel calculations.
 .
 However, Luerl will generally run slower than a reasonable native Lua
 implementation. This is mainly due the emulation of mutable data on top of an
 immutable world. There is really no way around this. An alternative would be
 to implement a special Lua memory outside of the normal Erlang, but this would
 defeat the purpose of Luerl. It would instead be then more logical to connect
 to a native Lua.
 .
 Some valid use cases for Luerl are:
  * Lua code will be run only occasionally and it wouldn't be worth managing
an extra language implementation in the application;
  * the Lua code chunks are small so the slower speed is weighed up by Luerl's
faster interface;
  * the Lua code calculates and reads variables more than changing them;
  * the same Lua State is repeatedly used to 'fork up' as a basis for
massively many parallel calculations, based on the same state;
  * it is easy to run multiple instances of Luerl which could better utilise
multicores.

This package is a dependency of the next ejabberd release.

  Description : Compute positions of the planets and stars
 PyEphem provides an ephem Python package for performing high-precision
 astronomy computations. The underlying numeric routines are coded in C
 and are the same ones that drive the popular XEphem astronomy
 application, whose author, Elwood Charles Downey, generously gave
 permission for their use in PyEphem. The name ephem is short for the
 word ephemeris, which is the traditional term for a table giving the
 position of a planet, asteroid, or comet for a series of dates.

This package will maintained within the Debian Astronomy Working Group.
A git repository is created on alioth [1].

Best regards

Ole

framework

An alternative to Ido, very popular among Emacs users. Upstream
description:

Helm is incremental completion and selection narrowing framework for
Emacs. It will help steer you in the right direction when you're
looking for stuff in Emacs (like buffers, files, etc).

Helm is a fork of anything.el originally written by Tamas Patrovic and
can be considered to be its successor. Helm sets out to clean up the
legacy code in anything.el and provide a cleaner, leaner and more
modular tool, that's not tied in the trap of backward compatibility.

I intend to maintain this as part of the pkg-emacsen team.

Bug#813870: O: python-sockjs-tornado

2016-02-05 Thread Thomas Goirand
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

The package which I thought would use sockjs-tornado (ie: Ceilometer)
finally doesn't. Therefore, I'm not interested in maintaining this
package anymore.

If nobody takes over, I'll ask for the removal of this package from
Sid / Unstable.

Cheers,

Thomas Goirand (zigo)
