Bug#879203: RFP: redisearch -- search engine on top of Redis

2017-10-23 Thread Chris Lamb
Hi Piotr,

Am happy to package this, and probably makes sense as the Redis
maintainer anyway.

> I chose redis-modulename as binary package name

So, "redis-redisearch". The only problem is that this *somewhat* collides with
other packages in this namespace, such as redis-sentinel and redis-tools (which
are not modules). So, one alternative might be "redis-module-redisearch" or
"redis-modules-redisearch" but I find them to be a little too ugly.

> /usr/lib/redis/ but maybe /usr/lib/redis/modules/ is a better idea.

/usr/lib/redis/modules/ wfm. (We don't need to gnu-triplet-these for
multiarch do we?)

> so support for /etc/redis/conf.d/ or autoloading modules from given dir

Hm, do we even *want* autoloading modules? I'm not 100% sure we do. I guess
it does not block the packaging anyway...

This is a priority for me for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Please let me know if
I can help in any way.

It looks like there are several more packages that you need to build
nototools, some don't even have ITPs yet (like pyclipper).

Do you intend to maintain these packages yourself or with a team?

Do you have git repos for your work so far?

Have you been able to build nototools or the noto-color-emoji font locally yet?

I am usually in Debian IRC in #debian-gnome. Feel free to ping me.

Thanks,
Jeremy Bicha

ccrypt is a utility for encrypting and decrypting files and streams. It was
designed as a replacement for the standard unix crypt utility, which is
notorious for using a very weak encryption algorithm. ccrypt is based on the
Rijndael cipher, which is the U.S. government's chosen candidate for the
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES, see http://www.nist.gov/aes). This cipher is
believed to provide very strong security.

  * A handy way to deal with RSS and other mostly-ok-but-kinda-broken XML
 .
 Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
