 libgpiod encapsulates the ioctl calls and data structures
 behind a straightforward API. This new character device

 closing the device file descriptor and adds several new
 features that are not present in the obsolete sysfs interface
 (like event polling, setting/reading multiple values at once or
 open-source and open-drain GPIOs).

  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : An elegant, secure, adaptable and intuitive XMPP Client.

This package was recommended to me as a good XMPP client for newcomers,
and from the screenshots it does look like it is.
As I'm more of an irssi-like-UI person, I'm not personally interested in
using, nor maintaining it, but I'm opening this RFP to keep track of
interest from other people.

In case it was packaged I would install it and, if it correspond to
expectations, recommend it to other users who are more prone to use
conventional UIs.

At a quick glance, I've noticed that the source repository includes some
3rd party components that may require splitting out, see e.g.

  Description : embeddable JavaScript Markdown editor
 This JavaScript library provides an embedded Markdown editor. This
 WYSIWYG-style editor allows users less familiar with the Markdown syntax
 to use familiar toolbar buttons and shortcuts. In addition, the syntax
 is rendered while editing to clearly show the expected result. This
 library also provides built-in automatic saving and spell checking.

This Go library is being packaged as a build dependency of gitea (a gogs fork).
There are a lot of build dependencies and I would love some help. If anyone is
interested in handling this package, please feel free to contact me!

* Package name: cc65
  Version : 2.13.3
  Upstream Author : Ullrich von Bassewitz
* URL : http://www.cc65.org/
* License : zlib and non-free
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Cross compiler and toolchain for 6502-based systems

cc65 is a complete cross development package for 6502-based systems. It
features a C compiler plus all the standard binutils one would expect
from a toolchain, including an archiver, an assembler, a disassembler,
a linker, an object file dump utility and even a 6502 CPU simulator. A
resource compiler for the GEOS operating system as well as various
support libraries are also part of the distribution.

The following targets are supported:

* Commodore C64
* GEOS operating system on C64
* Commodore C128
* Commodore C16, C116 and Plus/4
* Commodore P500
* Commodore 600/700 family
* Apple II
* Atari 8 bit family
* Oric Atmos
* Nintendo NES
* Watara Supervision
* Atari Lynx

Both direct library support (startup/initialization code) as well as
support libraries are supplied for these targets. These libraries
include support for the following APIs:

* conio (text-based console I/O, non-scrolling)
* dio (block-oriented disk I/O)
* em (expanded memory, allowing to address >64K RAM)
* joystick (support for joystick devices)
* mouse (mouse support and other absolute input devices)
* serial (serial I/O)
* tgi (2D graphics primitives)

The cc65 compiler was originally written by John R. Dunning and comes
with an open source license which is not DFSG-compliant since it forbids
to charge for the distribution of a copy of the software. cc65 is therefore
going to be part of the non-free distribution.

When the swapping starts, instead of sitting in front of the unresponsive
system, listening to the grinding disk for minutes, I usually just press
the reset button and get back to what I was doing more quickly, regardless
even of the workspace I just lost.

Bug#881699: ITP: pyspeckit -- toolkit for fitting and manipulating spectroscopic data in Python

2017-11-14 Thread Vincent Prat
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name       : pyspeckit
  Version            : 0.1.20
  Upstream author    : Adam Ginsburg
* URL                : https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pyspeckit
* License            : BSD
  Programming lang.  : Python
  Description        : toolkit for fitting and manipulating
spectroscopic data in Python

This is a code framework designed to allow for analysis of spectroscopic
data from a wide variety of astronomical instruments.
It is motivated by the lack of general spectroscopic analysis tools
applicable at multiple wavelengths (compare to IRAF, SPLAT, etc. - these
are wavelength-specific and/or do not make user scripting easy).
Initial implementation focuses on optical and radio applications, e.g.
gaussian and voigt profile fitting, baseline/continuum fitting, and
equivalent width measurements.

This package will be maintained under the Debian Astro Team.
