Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I have not been using this editor for many years now. The codebase is
old and buggy: some features are no longer working, and difficult to fix
due to the fact that parts of it was copy-n-pasted from very old X11R5
and X11R4 code and then hacked. There's currently a bug against the
.info files it ships with---unfortunately upstream did not ship the
.texi source for it so it's annoying to fix.

This package is non-free, and upstream has repeatedly declined to change
its license, which makes it not worthwhile to invest the time and effort
to fix it. Upstream has also abandoned it years ago.

In short, this package is non-free, buggy, and nearing the end of its
life. A few people (very few, but non-zero) still use it, so it should
probably still stick around for a little longer. I no longer have the
time or interest to maintain it, so I'll be very happy if someone else
can take the job.

Thanks!

Bug#896458: RFH: swi-prolog -- ISO/Edinburgh-style Prolog interpreter

2018-04-21 Thread Lev Lamberov
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

I'm looking for co-maintainers for the swi-prolog package, which is a
Prolog interpreter, written in C (core) and Prolog itself (most of its
libraries). SWI-Prolog is still under active development, especially
compared to other Prolog implementations (most of which are stalled
nowadays).

There is a kind of infrastructure built around it, which includes
additional libraries [libraries] (shipped as packages, currently 233
additional packages total) and some related tools and projects (e. g.,
swish [swish], which is a web-interface for Prolog development). As far
as I know Debian does not contain anything of it besides SWI-Prolog
itself. So, ideally I'd like it (the swi-prolog package and other
prospective packages from SWI-Prolog infrastructure) to be
team-maintained. Of course, currently such team do not exist, but in
case there are volunteers to help with, let's just start it.

Please, share your thoughts and ideas.

[libraries] http://www.swi-prolog.org/pack/list

[swish] https://swish.swi-prolog.org/

With regards,
Lev Lamberov

I intend to orphan the kdiagram package. Ideally the new maintainer of

supports stock charts, box charts, and whisker charts and allows one to
integrate these charts in Qt-based applications.
