  Description : C library for crystal symmetry determination

Spglib is a C library for crystal symmetry determination. Symmetry
operations, space groups and other data can be obtained using this
symmetry finder.

Features include:

* Identify space-group type
* Find symmetry operations
* Find a primitive cell
* Search irreducible k-points
* Refine crystal structure
* Wyckoff position assignment

The package implements symmetry determination algorithms by
Grosse-Kunstleve (Acta Cryst., A55, 383-395 (1999)) and Grosse-Kunstleve
and Adams (Acta Cryst., A58, 60-65 (2002)). There are language bindings
for Python, Fortran and Ruby.

Packaging of spglib was previously requested in RFPs #602113 and #674135
(merged).

I plan to team-maintain the package in Debian Science. I will need a
sponsor to upload the package once it is ready.

hm, it appears that the most interesting unit tests themselves can only
be run with eslint, which makes it difficult to properly test enigmail
as intended without npm or node.js.

npm2deb depends eslint shows me a rather large list of gaps in the
node/debian intersection (see below), so i can't even get the test suite
to run at build time on the debian infrastructure.

Hi Andrius,

My poor understanding is that IUPAC-InChI Trust License is not perfectly
worded LGPL which suppose to be more permissive then LGPL and thus is
DFSG compatible.

>From the official site:
https://iupac.org/who-we-are/divisions/division-details/inchi/

The InChITM program version 1.04 is free software developed under the
auspices of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry
(IUPAC) and the InChI Trust. You can redistribute it and/or modify it
under the terms of the IUPAC-InChI Trust License (PDF). This is a more
permissive version of the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1
that was applied to previous versions of the software.

Here are few mail threads regarding attempts to make the license more
permissive:

Initial request:

 https://sourceforge.net/p/inchi/mailman/message/25847235/

3 years later version 1.04 is released under modified LGPL which allows
static linking with non-free software:

Alex

I was packaging some dependencies but then had to de-prioritise it for
various reasons.

I would be happy if you took this up from me, however. If so, please
just take over this ITP.

Bug#884797: ITP: anbox -- Run Android applications on any GNU/Linux operating system

2018-05-30 Thread Shengjing Zhu
Hi Chris,

What's the current status for this? I hope I can offer help to
co-maintain this with you.

BTW, I'm afraid this package should be in contrib section, since we
might can't build the Android image it needed. That means, to run
anbox functionally, users need a custom Android image built by
upstream.

But it's still worth to do, as said in the RFP message, this is the
only way to run Android natively on GNU/Linux.

Bug#814867: InChI license

2018-05-30 Thread Andrius Merkys
Hello,

the IUPAC/InChI-Trust InChI Licence of InChI (https://www.inchi-trust.org) is
possibly non-DFSG-compatible
(https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2018/02/msg00026.html), thus the package
might not be suitable for Debian. Nevertheless, the copies of InChI are in
Debian already as embedded by packages openbabel and indigo: openbabel v2.3.2
(newest in unstable) has earlier version of the library which is licensed under
LGPL, whereas indigo v1.1.12 carries the library with the IUPAC/InChI-Trust
InChI Licence. I suggest either reconsidering this license, or eliminating it
from Debian altogether.

Best,
Andrius

Bug#900422: O: mdns-scan -- Scan for mDNS/DNS-SD services published on the local network

2018-05-30 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the mdns-scan package.

The package description is:
 mdns-scan is a tool for scanning for mDNS/DNS-SD services published
 on the local network.
 .
 It works by issuing a mDNS PTR query to the special RR
 _services._dns-sd._udp.local for retrieving a list of all currently
 registered services on the local link.
 .
 mDNS/DNS-SD is part of Apple's Zeroconf strategy (a.k.a. Bonjour).
 The avahi-daemon package is an implementation of mDNS/DNS-SD.

The package was maintained within the pkg-utopia team but no one is
actively looking after it anymore and therefor needs a new maintainer.
Upstream unfortunately is dead. The last release is from 2008.

Anyone adopting this package will have to keep in mind that this means
to take over the role as upstream as well.

 The CommonMark specification defines a rationalized version of markdown

 The latest version of this package also adds support for Github
 extensions including tables, autolinks and strikethrough text.

* Package name: r-cran-promises
  Version : 1.0.1
  Upstream Author : Joe Cheng
* URL : https://cran.r-project.org/package=promises
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: GNU R
  Description : GNU R abstractions for promise-based asynchronous
programming
 Provides fundamental abstractions for doing asynchronous programming
 in R using promises. Asynchronous programming is useful for allowing a single
 R process to orchestrate multiple tasks in the background while also attending
 to something else. Semantics are similar to 'JavaScript' promises, but with a
 syntax that is idiomatic R.

Remark: This package is needed to upgrade r-cran-httpuv to the latest
upstream version. It also depenends from the just packaged r-cran-later
so this needs to be accepted first in new queue by ftpmaster. The
packaging will be maintained by thr r-pkg team at

  Description : a pythonic wrapper around FFTW, the speedy FFT library

pyFFTW is a pythonic wrapper around FFTW, the speedy FFT library. The
ultimate aim is to present a unified interface for all the possible
transforms that FFTW can perform.

Both the complex DFT and the real DFT are supported, as well as on
arbitrary axes of abitrary shaped and strided arrays, which makes it
almost feature equivalent to standard and real FFT functions of
numpy.fft (indeed, it supports the clongdouble dtype which numpy.fft
does not).

Operating FFTW in multithreaded mode is supported.

pyFFTW is BSD-licensed and should not be confused with python-fftw, a
GPL-licensed python module with the same aim of provider python
bindings to FFTW3. Or python-gpyfft, which provides bindings to the
OpenCL FFT library clFFT.

This package will be maintained by the Debian Science maintainers (who
also maintain FFTW3 itself and python-gpyfft)

  Description : tools for searching collections of biological sequences

 The FASTA programs find regions of local or global similarity between
 Protein or DNA sequences, either by searching Protein or DNA databases,
 or by identifying local duplications within a sequence. Other
 programs provide information on the statistical significance of an
 alignment. Like BLAST, FASTA can be used to infer functional and
 evolutionary relationships between sequences as well as help identify
 members of gene families.

 Packaging is team-maintained on salsa.d.o/med-team/fasta3.

 goexif Provides decoding of basic exif and tiff encoded data. Still
 in alpha - no guarantees. Suggestions and pull requests are welcome.
 Functionality is split into two packages - "exif" and "tiff".
 The exif package depends on the tiff package.
 Documentation can be found at http://godoc.org/github.com/rwcarlsen/goexif

Reason for packaging: Needed by the upcoming Hugo v0.41 release.

* Package name: cod-tools
  Version : 2.0
  Upstream Author : Saulius Gražulis , Andrius Merkys
, Antanas Vaitkus
* URL : http://wiki.crystallography.net/cod-tools
* License : GPL 2.0
  Programming Lang: C, Perl, Python, Shell
  Description : tools for manipulation of Crystallographic Information
Format v1.1 and v2.0 files

The package contains Crystallographic Information Format (CIF) v1.1 and
v2.0 parser (parser of CIF v1.1 is compared to other parsers in Merkys et
al. 2016, doi:10.1107/S1600576715022396) and scripts for manipulating CIF
files. Package includes CIF parser bindings for C, Perl and Python. Tools
from the package are used in the development and maintenance of the
Crystallography Open Database (http://www.crystallography.net/cod/, usage
described in Gražulis et al. 2009, doi:10.1107/S0021889809016690 and
Gražulis et al. 2015, doi:10.1107/S1600576714025904). The tools follow
the same filter-like usage pattern as Netpbm.

As I am an upstream author, I plan to maintain the package myself. As
this is my first submission, I will need a sponsor.

  Description : GNU R generic reproducible parallel backend for 'foreach'

 This GNU R package provides functions to perform
 reproducible parallel foreach loops, using independent
 random streams as generated by L'Ecuyer's combined
 multiple-recursive generator [L'Ecuyer (1999), ].
 It enables to easily convert standard %dopar% loops into
 fully reproducible loops, independently of the number
 of workers, the task scheduling strategy, or the chosen
 parallel environment and associated foreach backend.

Remark: This package is needed to upgrade r-cran-blockmodeling to its latest

* Package name: r-cran-magic
  Version : 1.5-8-1
  Upstream Author : Robin K. S. Hankin
* URL : https://cran.r-project.org/package=magic
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: GNU R
  Description : GNU R create and investigate magic squares
 A collection of efficient, vectorized algorithms for the
 creation and investigation of magic squares and hypercubes, including
 a variety of functions for the manipulation and analysis of
 arbitrarily dimensioned arrays. The package includes methods for
 creating normal magic squares of any order greater than 2. The
 ultimate intention is for the package to be a computerized embodiment
 all magic square knowledge, including direct numerical verification
 of properties of magic squares (such as recent results on the
 determinant of odd-ordered semimagic squares). Some antimagic
 functionality is included. The package also
 serves as a rebuttal to the often-heard comment "I thought R
 was just for statistics".

Remark: This package is needed as a dependency for r-cran-geometry which
in turn is a new dependency to upgrade r-cran-ddalpha to its latest
upstream version. It is maintained by the R-pkg team at

Bug#900390: RFP: multiload-ng -- modern graphical system monitor for XFCE/MATE/LXDE/Ubuntu Unity and others

2018-05-30 Thread Rogério Brito
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: multiload-ng
  Version : 1.5.2
  Upstream Author : Mario Cianciolo
* URL : http://udda.github.io/multiload-ng
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : modern graphical system monitor for XFCE/MATE/LXDE/Ubuntu
Unity and others

Multiload-ng is a modern graphical system monitor. It's a near-complete
rewrite of the good old GNOME multiload applet, that aims to support every
existing panel.

It supports the following panels:

* XFCE (xfce4-panel)
* LXDE (lxpanel)
* MATE (mate-panel)
* Ubuntu Unity (through libappindicator)
* Every panel with support for Application Indicators
* System tray (virtually any panel with a systray, in particular those
  without external plugins support, like tint2)
* Standalone (has its own window, not embedded in any panel)
* Avant Window Navigator (EXPERIMENTAL)

Multiload-ng can be built with GTK2 and GTK3, so can be embedded within
GTK2/GTK3 builds of all the panels above.

---

This package is very useful for people that want to run some desktops like
XFCE or LXDE that don't have system monitors as complete and/or as useful as
multiload-ng.

Even for desktops like MATE, which has its fork of GNOME 2's multiload
applet, multiload-ng provides integrated, in one single process, other
monitors, which obviate the use of extra applets (which wake up the
processor at non-synchronized times and prevent lowering the battery
consumption for notebooks).

This package would ideally be maintained by someone from the LXDE and/or the
XFCE teams. It is really useful and versatile.

Thanks,
