Bug#901022: ITP: reentry -- plugin manager based on setuptools entry points

2018-06-07 Thread Andrius Merkys
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andrius Merkys

* Package name: reentry
  Version : 1.2.1a2
  Upstream Author : Rico Haeuselmann
* URL : https://pypi.org/project/reentry/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : plugin manager based on setuptools entry points

Setuptool's entry point system is convenient to use for plugin based
python applications. It allows separate python packaes to act as plugins
to a host package, making it easy for the host to find and iterate over
the relevant data structures from plugins.

However simply importing setuptools scales badly with the number of installed
distributions and can be very slow for moderately complex environments (~ 0.5
s).
Finding and loading of plugins on the other hand is time-critical in
cases like commandline tools loading subcommands, where 100 ms are a noticeable
delay.

Setuptools's pkg_resources is slow, because it verifies dependencies are
installed
correctly for all distributions present in the environment on import. This
allows
entry points to have additional requirements.

Reentry forgoes this dependency check for entry points without such 'extras'
dependencies and thereby manages to be fast and scale better, with the amount of
installed plugins, not installed python packages in general.

This package is used for plugin management in AiiDA framework
(http://www.aiida.net),
which I am planning to package for Debian.

I will team-maintain the package together with Debian Python Modules Team.

It seems to me that the ITP being owned by DD is more convenient than me.

No I'm not interested in this tool...
I would probably check the following OCI image utilities first:

This reason is only valid, if the upstream project is dead. Which
BlueGriffon obviously isn't: The latest release is from November 2017.

Hence reopening.

Bug#899058: ITP: domoticz -- Home automation system

2018-06-07 Thread Thibaut Paumard
Dear Federico,

I've had some success building domoticz on buster using your git
repository with some modifications (see attached patch):

- in order to use Z-Wave hardware, add libopenzwave1.5-dev as a
build-dependency, provide a dummy libopenzwave.pc file and set
PKG_CONFIG_PATH to find it. Ideally one would prefer the libopenzwave
package to provide this file.

- in order to have dzVents to work at all, change ExecStart path from
/usr/sbin to /usr/lib/domoticz.

- Change dependency from liblua5.2 (which does not seem to exist in the
archive?) to liblua5.2-1.

Further experiments not included in patch:

In order to get persistence working in dzVents, I actually had to copy
all of /usr/lib/domoticz/scripts to /var/lib/domoticz/scripts and add
-userdata /var/lib/domoticz/ to ExecStart. I think this removes the need
to change the executable path, but it would need some care to be done
properly in the package.

Strangely, this build of domoticz advertises itself as Version: 3.2112
in http://localhost:8080/#/About, not 3.8153. dzVents is outdated in it
and some of the scripts I've been running for months on a
community-provided build of 3.8153 on a Synology NAS don't work with
this version.

Kind regards, Thibaut.

The GUDHI library is a generic open source C++ library for Topological
Data Analysis (TDA) and Higher Dimensional Geometry Understanding. The
library offers state-of-the-art data structures and algorithms to
construct simplicial complexes and compute persistent homology.

The GUDHI library is developed as part of the GUDHI project supported

I have initial packaging of the libgudhi-dev (the headers for this
template-based library) done, and will add the comprehensive set of

* Package name: node-merge-source-map
  Version : 1.1.0
  Upstream Author :kato kei
* URL : https://github.com/keik/merge-source-map#readme
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: JavaScript
  Description : Merge javascript source map

This package merge two source map in order to create an unique source map.
.
Source maps allow tools to display unminified code from minified code
with an optimized mapping between them, thus allowing easy debugging a
minified javascript.
 .
 This package is a dependency of browserify, a JavaScript tool that
allows developers to write Node.js-style modules that compile for use
in the browser
 .
 Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.

Bug#900958: ITP: barebox-host-tools -- useful development tools from the barebox source tree

2018-06-07 Thread Roland Hieber
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Roland Hieber

* Package name: barebox-host-tools
  Version : 2018.05.0
  Upstream Author : Sascha Hauer and others
* URL : https://barebox.org
* License : GPL, LGPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : useful development tools from the barebox source tree

Barebox is a bootloader for booting Linux on embedded devices. Its
source tree contains some useful tools which can also be used
stand-alone:

- bareboxenv: generate or read a barebox environment archive
- bareboximd: Extract metadata from a barebox image
- imx-usb-loader: USB image loader for i.MX series processors
- omap3-usb-loader, omap4_usbboot: USB image loaders for OMAP processors

I plan to package the last two tools into separate binary packages.

With certain effort, barebox itself could also be packaged as a
bootloader, but the host tools should suffice for now.

I'm not a Debian maintainer mysqlf, but Uwe (Cc'd) has already offered
to sponsor this package.

The module would be helpful for properly packaging geierlein (see #695204) as
it uses
nodeunit for unit testing on build.

For now, I have disabled testing by patching the build system, which is
probably ok
as tests should have been run by upstream when releasing the orig tarball, but
as dh
runs make test we should enable it to do so.

* Package name: node-unit

  Description : Easy unit testing in node.js and the browser, based on the
assert module

Simple syntax, powerful tools. Nodeunit provides easy async unit testing for
node.js and the browser.

 - Simple to use
 - Just export the tests from a module
 - Works with node.js and in the browser.
 - Helps you avoid common pitfalls when testing asynchronous code
 - Easy to add test cases with setUp and tearDown functions if you wish
 - Flexible reporters for custom output, built-in support for HTML and jUnit XML
 - Allows the use of mocks and stubs
