With my cryptsetup maintainer hat on, I don't mind either way.  In any
case we shouldn't ship multiple hooks providing essentially the same
functionalities (#888916, #903163).  I have a Gnuk Token so I should be
able to test and maintain this :-)

In general, rather than using our internal interface, authors of third
party hooks should either 1/ ask us to document and publish the bits
they need, or 2/ convince us to incorporate their hook & script into
cryptsetup-initramfs, effectively making us maintainers.

Back to https://github.com/eriknellessen/gpg-encrypted-root, I see the
hook is copying private key material to the initramfs, but /initrd.img
is just a cpio archive which is created with mode 0644 minus umask… so
without additional protection in place [0] (which the README doesn't
mention) any local user can read the (hopefully symmetrically encrypted)
private key material!  It's not clear to me why they need the private
key files, but at the very least a loud warning should be shown if the
umask is too permissive.

surprising when I saw that yes, there is already one. I was happy.

clean' in the age of git.  So what I've tried is to have configure (I
really need to cleanup that thing) create a git archive if necessary.

That's helpful!  I made sure this command now works.  The pain of not
using autotools is almost becoming as great as the pain of not using
them.

Ah...CPPFLAGS, CFLAGS get overridden.  I revised my build.

wip-gnu branch (or `debian' which is currently wip-gnu+your patches).

I intend to release this as 0.16.1 if/once it builds for you.

The installer is meant to be used on CentOS (bash scripts).. but I know 
it's free and "blackmagic" hardware is NOT needed in order to use it.. 
(Works on a Winbloze system)


It makes a great workflow with LWKS.. and this other piece of software 
might go opensource, but the point is these things are movie-grade tools 
which can really boost Linux's arsenal of power software (video editing/ 
color correction)..


Davinciresolve is used with 30,000 dollar hardware.. so it's hard to 
dismiss this as a simple kid's kit (even though it's not opensource, but 
it does use opensource for some of its parts.. I see ffmpeg related 
libraries bundled with it).. The software is highly professional and has 
been out for at least a number of months as a free edition for Linux but 
not much people outside blackmagic/NAB sites seem to know about this 
available usability


The other thing is this software "requires" using CUDA from an NVIDIA 
card.. so it's a bummer for those who have AMD cards..


I've tried to look into it's scripts, but I'm having great difficulty, 
so I'm thinking perhaps someone is much better than me in trying to have 
this thing working on non-CentOS :) (It's cooler to have it on debian :)


Someone should get this baby packaged even though it'll probably end up 
in non-free or contrib.. It really is a powerful piece of software hard 
to dismiss..

Heketi provides a RESTful management interface which can be used to
manage the life cycle of GlusterFS volumes. With Heketi, cloud services
like OpenStack Manila, Kubernetes, and OpenShift can dynamically
provision GlusterFS volumes with any of the supported durability types.
Heketi will automatically determine the location for bricks across the
cluster, making sure to place bricks and its replicas across different
failure domains. Heketi also supports any number of GlusterFS clusters,
allowing cloud services to provide network file storage without being
limited to a single GlusterFS cluster.
