Bug#944704: ITP: org-html-themes -- export Emacs Org mode files into awesome HTML in 2 minutes or less

2019-11-13 Thread Nicholas D Steeves
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Nicholas D Steeves

* Package name: org-html-themes
  Version : 1.0.0
  Upstream Author :
* URL : https://github.com/fniessen/org-html-themes
* License : GPL-3+
  Programming Lang: Org_style_markdown, HTML, CSS, js vs Debian's libjs-foos
  Description : export Emacs Org mode files into awesome HTML in 2 minutes

 Org-HMTL themes is an open source framework that enables the
 exportation of Org documents to beautiful cross-browser HTML. Use
 this to style your docs, and your colleagues will come up to tell you
 that you are a genius! Whether it's for a web page, something like
 an IOT frame that displays TODO lists and project progress, or
 something else this package elevates Org export and publication to
 something truly impressive.
 .
 At this time the following themes are included:
   * Bigblow, a modern and minimal theme with pastel colours and a clean design.
   * ReadTheOrg, a clone of the well known and loved Read The Docs theme.

This package lowers the barrier to entry to professional-looking
Org-mode export/publish results. In the future I'd like to see it
extended via conveniences like yasnippet and/or some sort of template
selection menu. I discovered this package when working on generating
Ivy/Counsel/Swiper's HTML docs (now with no invariants section!) The
most similar type of package would probably be the various Sphinx
themes.

I plan to maintain it on the Debian Emacsen Team, and I look forward
to navigating between the requirements of users who are using it for
offline docs and those who will use it to publish to a web server. I
will require a sponsor for the initial upload.

If someone would like to work on porting Sphinx themes to this
framework, please speak up :-) A publication kit that provides unified
look & feel between Sphinx and Org could be a fun project.

I anticipate it will become popular with fans of Org-mode.

Sincerely,
Nicholas

Bug#884575: ITP: syncthingtray -- a tray applet, plasmoid, and Dolphin integration for Syncthing

2019-11-13 Thread Nicholas D Steeves
Status update: I've deferred the question of Webkit vs Web Engine and
am working on Martchus' prerequisite libraries, starting with
"c++utilities" aka "cpputilities". I will need to consult with
someone more how to package this for Debian such that it doesn't make
such a huge namespace grab, or at least get an ACK that this would be
ok.

Sincerely,
Nicholas

 libcpuid is a small C library for x86 CPU detection and feature
extraction. Using it, you can:

... get the processor vendor, model, brand string, code name, ...
... get information about CPU features such as: number of cores or
logical CPUs, cache sizes, CPU clock, ...
... check if the processor implements a specific instruction set
such as the SSE2, 3DNow!, ...
... execute the CPUID and RDTSC instructions (portably!) ...
... and have this all in your commercial application, without
getting into trouble.

I think I might have used the term bureaucracy a bit too liberally.
What I meant is the administrative processes governing this (which I
clearly am not familiar with yet).

But otherwise, fully agreed.

That's not a bureaucracy but important aspects of cooperation. Notion of
ownership matters only as long as you have something to deliver. Therefore
transparency (not bureaucracy) is crucial. Even when the work is unfinished,
announce that you are on the task and where your work-in-progress repository

Bug#944674: ITP: tarmux -- A tool to multiplex and demultiplex streams from pipes to tar and back again.

2019-11-13 Thread Graham Leggett
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Graham Leggett

* Package name: tarmux
  Version : 1.0.2
  Upstream Author : Graham Leggett
* URL : https://github.com/minfrin/tarmux
* License : ASL2
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : A tool to multiplex and demultiplex streams from pipes to
tar and back again.

Tarmux attempts to solve the problem of handling streamed data where there is
insufficient temporary
space on disk to hold the data, as is forced by tar.

In the simplest invocation, tarmux takes a stream from stdin, and creates a tar
file consisting of
sequential numbered file fragments one after the other. This can be reversed by
the tardemux tool,
which will untar the fragments and reassemble the stream to stdout.

The tardemux tool only reads a single tar stream before exiting. This allows
multiple streams to be
concatenated in the same stream, and then split out by each invocation of
tardemux.

(Happy to maintain the package, but need a co-maintainer or sponsor to
show me what to do)

  Description : library for non-linear optimization, clustering,

 DDogleg Numerics is a high performance Java library for non-linear
 optimization, clustering, robust model fitting, polynomial root finding,
 sorting, and more. The API is designed to be user to use, without excessive
 abstraction often found in other libraries. The user is provided with the
 capability to have tight control over memory and CPU usage.

libddogleg-java is a dependency of deepboof, which I eventually intend
to package.

  Description : Free Studio Technology for audio plugins

 Free Studio Technology (FST) is an audio plugin software interface
 that integrates software synthesizer and effects in digital audio
 workstations.
 It is an unencumbered, bona-fide reverse-engineered SDK compatible with
 the ubiquitous but proprietary, deprecated and retracted VST2 interface.

I intend to maintain this under the multimedia-team umbrella.

Package: wnpp

Owner: Drew Parsons

* Package name: python-dmsh
  Version : 0.1.3
  Upstream Author : Nico Schlömer
* URL : https://github.com/nschloe/dmsh
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : simple mesh generator inspired by distmesh

 dmsh: "The worst mesh generator you'll ever use."

 Inspired by distmesh, dmsh is slow, requires a lot of memory, and
 isn't terribly robust either.

 On the plus side, it's got a usable interface, is pure Python (and
 hence easily installable on any system), and if it works, it produces
 pretty high-quality meshes.

 Combined with optimesh, dmsh produces the highest-quality 2D meshes
 in the west.

 Example capabilities:
 * Primitives
   - circle, rectangle, polygon
   - halfspace
 * Combinations
   - difference
   - nonconstant edge length
   - union
   - intersection
 * Transformations
   - rotation, translation, scaling
 * Local refinement

A simple-to-use tool for creating 2D meshes. Complements mshr
(which is not actively developed)

To be packaged under the Debian Science team alongside other related
packages by the same author: meshio (mesh file conversion), pygalmesh
(3D meshes)

Some debate about source package name: dmsh? python-dmsh? python3-dmsh?
A quick poll on irc indicates some preference for python-dmsh. Further
debate welcome.

  Description : Fast and Accurate Estimation of Evolutionary Distances

This is the phylonium program for estimating the evolutionary distances
between closely related genomes. It is much faster than alignment based
approaches for phylogeny reconstruction and usually more accurate than
competing alignment-free methods.

This package will be co-maintained in the Debian Med Team.

  Description : Web content engine for embedded devices

WebKit is a modern web engine that is able to display content such
as HTML, SVG, XML, and others. It also supports DOM, XMLHttpRequest,
XSLT, CSS, JavaScript/ECMAScript and more.

WPE WebKit is a WebKit port optimized for embedded devices and, unlike
the GTK port, it does not depend on any particular UI toolkit and
can be adapated to different use cases. It is designed with hardware
acceleration in mind, leveraging common 3D graphics APIs for best
performance.

Well, they've consistently failed for me ... hrm.

I did a quick build with all three, and it worked. Will triage exactly
which of the three are needed another time.

That worked pefectly!

And thanks likewise for quickly responding with patches!

Pushed updates to my packaging branch.

As a developer: yes; not really as a user/packager atm. IOW, you will
need a patch.

The strange thing is that I tried to reproduce on a bullseye/sid VM of
about 2months ago; and for me all tests pass?

Anyway, I have updated the wip-0.20 branch to include three patches

--8<---cut here---start->8---
build: Mark lib/tests/dirent/90-readdir.c as XFAIL on x86_64-gcc.
build: Mark lib/tests/dirent/90-readdir.c as XFAIL on x86_64-mescc.
build: Mark lib/tests/dirent/90-readdir.c as XFAIL on x86_64.
--8<---cut here---end--->8---

you can cherry-pick the one that works for you.

On wip-0.20, I have fixed install to honor configure's
--includedir=, so you may use

./configure --includedir=/usr/include/mes

that should work now.

Hope this fixes it,
a big thank you again!

Ah yes, you're right, the "owner" was in fact posted to the BTS, but there were
no BTS commands sent to cont...@bugs.debian.org, which would have renamed
the RFP appropriately.

Congratulations and thanks! That is beautiful.

Although GNU MES is now part of the Guix bootstrap, a regular Guix build
does not depend on mes; so I would suggest not to have guix wait for
that.  Thoughts?
