I request an adopter for the inosync package. It is written in
Python 2 and the original upstream maintainer hasn't been active in
more than four years. If nobody picks this package up, it will
probably be removed when Python 2 will be removed.

The package description is:
 The inosync daemon uses the inotify service available in recent Linux
 kernels to monitor and synchronize changes within directories to
 remote nodes using rsync.
 .
 System administrators have relied on cron+rsync for years to
 constantly synchronize files and directories to remote machines. It
 is not feasible to let authors wait for their content to get
 synchronized every x hours with regard to the enormous pace of
 articles and podcasts nowadays.

  Description : reproducibly sort the Lintian tool's output

The lintian-sort tool reorders the messages reported by the lintian(1)
Debian package analysis tool so that they are kept in the same order
between successive builds. This minimizes the changes that the package
maintainer sees using a file comparison tool (like diff(1)) to check if
any new problems have appeared or any of the old ones have been fixed.

The lintian-sort tool keeps any additional information (lines starting
with "N:") together with the tags they describe; however, it takes care to
put the final "N: 5 tags overridden" message (along with any follow-up
descriptive lines) at the end.

G'luck,
Peter

Lintian now orders tags before printing. That resolves the most
relevant feature requested here. The output was already deterministic,
but depended on the order in which checks that had been sorted were
run:

https://bugs.debian.org/944807

This is the Lintian commit message:

https://salsa.debian.org/lintian/lintian/commit/e0f76bdd6bf57d84ba2e7b478973ddc8b84df950

Besides the bug in Lintian, this message also closes an RFP bug that
had been cloned. Please re-open the RFP bug if we still need a second
tool.

To help make Lintian better, please file merge requests on Salsa. Thanks!

Kind regards,
Felix Lechner--- End Message ---

I am a heavy user of caffeine and would like to track its upstream to my best
effort. For now, it's okay if I could be added into the uploaders' list and/or
be granted the Salsa repo access. The short-term plan is to package latest
upstream git snapshot, which has declared to be GNOME 3.34 compatible.

Bug#946299: ITP: simde -- Implementations of SIMD instructions for all systems

2019-12-06 Thread Michael R. Crusoe
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Subject: ITP: simde -- Implementations of SIMD instructions for all systems
Package: wnpp
Owner: Michael R. Crusoe
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: simde
  Version : 0.0.0.git.20191205.c2e740c
  Upstream Author : , Evan Nemerson
* URL : https://github.com/nemequ/simde
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Implementations of SIMD instructions for all systems
 SIMDe provides fast, portable implementations of SIMD intrinsics on hardware
 which doesn't natively support them, such as calling SSE functions on ARM.
 There is no performance penalty if the hardware supports the native
 implementation (e.g., SSE/AVX runs at full speed on x86, NEON on ARM, etc.).
 .
 This makes porting code to other architectures much easier in a few key ways:
 .
 First, instead of forcing you to rewrite everything for each architecture,
 SIMDe lets you get a port up and running almost effortlessly. You can then
 start working on switching the most performance-critical sections to native
 intrinsics, improving performance gradually. SIMDe lets (for example) SSE/AVX
 and NEON code exist side-by-side, in the same implementation.
 .
 Second, SIMDe makes it easier to write code targeting ISA extensions you don't
 have convenient access to. You can run NEON code on your x86 machine without an
 emulator. Obviously you'll eventually want to test on the actual hardware
 you're targeting, but for most development, SIMDe can provide a much easier
 path.
 .
 SIMDe takes a very different approach from most other SIMD abstraction layers
 in that it aims to expose the entire functionality of the underlying
 instruction set. Instead of limiting functionality to the lowest common
 denominator, SIMDe tries to minimize the amount of effort required to port
 while still allowing you the space to optimize as needed.
 .
 The current focus is on writing complete portable implementations, though a
 large number of functions already have accelerated implementations using one
 (or more) of the following:
 .
 SIMD intrinsics from other ISA extensions (e.g., using NEON to implement
 SSE).
 Compiler-specific vector extensions and built-ins such as
 __builtin_shufflevector and __builtin_convertvector
 Compiler auto-vectorization hints, using:
OpenMP 4 SIMD
Cilk Plus
GCC loop-specific pragmas
clang pragma loop hint directives

* Package name: python-pycdio
  Version : 0.15
  Upstream Author : Rocky Bernstein
* URL : http://pypi.python.org/pypi/pycdio/
* License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: C, Python
  Description : Python interface to libcdio optical media control library

pycdio is a Python interface to the CD Input and Control library
(libcdio).

The pycdio (and libcdio) libraries encapsulate reading and control of
optical media devices (CD, DVD), for Python programs wishing to be
oblivious of the OS- and device-dependent properties of optical media
devices.

The encapsulation by SWIG is done in two parts. The lower-level python
interface is called pycdio and is generated by SWIG.

The more object-oriented module is cdio; it is a Python class that
uses pycdio. Although pycdio is perfectly usable on its own, it is
expected that cdio is what most people will use. As pycdio more
closely models the C interface, it is conceivable (if unlikely) that
diehard libcdio C users who are very familiar with that interface
could prefer that.

Bug#946269: ITP: libbio-db-refseq-perl -- Database object interface for RefSeq retrieval

2019-12-06 Thread Michael R. Crusoe
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Subject: ITP: libbio-db-refseq-perl -- Database object interface for RefSeq
retrieval
Package: wnpp
Owner: Michael R. Crusoe
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libbio-db-refseq-perl
  Version : 1.7.3
  Upstream Author : Copyright: Heikki Lehvaslaiho
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Bio-DB-RefSeq
* License : Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Database object interface for RefSeq retrieval
 Allows the dynamic retrieval of sequence objects Bio::Seq from the RefSeq
 nucleotide database using the dbfetch script at EBI:
 .
 http://www.ebi.ac.uk/Tools/dbfetch/dbfetch
 .
 At this time the module specifically retrieves nucleotide sequences only.
 .
 In order to make changes transparent we have host type (currently only ebi)
 and location (defaults to ebi) separated out. This allows later additions of
 more servers in different geographical locations.
 .
 The functionality of this module is inherited from Bio::DB::DBFetch which
 implements Bio::DB::WebDBSeqI.

Bug#946266: ITP: libbio-db-swissprot-perl -- Database object interface to SwissProt retrieval

2019-12-06 Thread Michael R. Crusoe
Package: wnpp

Subject: ITP: libbio-db-swissprot-perl -- Database object interface to
SwissProt retrieval
Package: wnpp
Owner: Michael R. Crusoe
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libbio-db-swissprot-perl
  Version : 1.7.3
  Upstream Author : Copyright: Jason Stajich
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Bio-DB-SwissProt
* License : Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Database object interface to SwissProt retrieval
 SwissProt is a curated database of proteins managed by the Swiss
 Bioinformatics Institute. Additional tools for parsing and manipulating
 swissprot files can be found at
 ftp://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/software/swissprot/Swissknife/.
 .
 Allows the dynamic retrieval of Sequence objects (Bio::Seq) from the
 SwissProt database via an Expasy retrieval.
 .
 In order to make changes transparent we have host type (currently only
 expasy) and location (default to Switzerland) separated out. This allows the
 user to pick the closest Expasy mirror for running their queries.
 .
 This description was automagically extracted from the module by dh-make-perl.
