how is the packaging going? Are you still intending to package it? Is there

  Description : Python library to parse Apertium stream format

This is a Python 3 library for parsing (converting to Python data
structure) text in Apertium stream format [1].

This library is useful for people developing Apertium (Apertium is a
machine translation engine that is already in Debian) language pairs
in case if they want to do python scripts for automating their
workflow (finding unknown words from morphological analyser, etc.),
also people can build new applications for quite variety of purposes,
e.g. for research on natural language processing. I have used
personally streamparser for automatic Constraint
Grammar generation: https://github.com/Putti/autocg. To my best
knowledge there is no other similar library for Python (that is at
least this good quality, some hacks might be lying around in the
Apertium project's repository).

I haven't submitted any packages to Debian archive before and I'm
still learning packaging. I have started the packing work already,
it's here:
.
 I'm
reading the new maintainer guide and policies at the moment so it
still might take some days or weeks to get the package in a good
shape. This package, when ready, needs a sponsor. Kartik Mistry has
handled other Apertium related packages before so maybe he/she would
be willing to take on this package (I haven't asked Kartik yet).

A flake8 extension that checks for blind, catch-all except: statements.

Using except without explicitly specifying which exceptions to catch is
generally considered bad practice, since it catches system signals like SIGINT.
You probably want to handle system interrupts differently than exceptions
occuring in your code.

It's also usually better style to have many small try-except blocks catching
specific exceptions instead of a giant try: block with a catch-all except: at
the bottom. It's also nicer to your fellow programmers to be a bit more
specific about what exceptions they can expect in specific parts of the code,
and what the proper course of action is when they occur.

Bug#966558: ITP: fast5-research -- command line executable tools for python3-fast5-research

2022-07-03 Thread Bastian Germann

Control: retitle -1 ITP: fast5-research -- fast5 reading and writing (API to
HDF containers)

The description was misleading in that it claimed to introduce executable tools
only.
The prepared source package contains python3-fast5-research as well.

  Version : 0.9.19
  Upstream Author : Preston Landers
* URL : https://github.com/Preston-Landers/concurrent-log-handler
* License : Apache 2.0
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : An additional log handler for Python's standard logging
package (PEP 282).

This handler will write log events to a log file which is rotated when the log
file reaches a certain size. Multiple processes can safely write to the same
log file concurrently. Rotated logs can be gzipped if desired. Both Windows and
POSIX systems are supported. An optional threaded queue logging handler is
provided to perform logging in the background.

This is a fork of Lowell Alleman's ConcurrentLogHandler 0.9.1 which fixes a
hanging/deadlocking problem.

  It is a dependency of paperless (RFP #986227)

  I want to package it inside the python-team

Bug#917541: ITP - Python-xxhash - Python Binding for xxHash

X-Debbugs-Cc: r...@finnie.org

On Sat, 5 Jan 2019 12:06:34 -0800 Ryan Finnie wrote:

I actually began (and finished) work on packaging python-xxhash before
noticing this ITP. My initial packaging is at:
https://github.com/rfinnie/python-xxhash-pkg-debian

Since libxxhash0 was recently packaged, I've patched the Python module
to use the shared library instead of the module's local copy. Aside
from that, relatively normal Python module. The module itself is Python
2.7 compatible but I only packaged Python 3, per lintian
new-package-should-not-package-python2-module.

Feel free to use this packaging base if you want and set yourself as the
maintainer. I'd also be happy with being the maintainer (I'm a DM, not
a DD so I would require an initial sponsorship as DMs aren't allowed to
upload new packages), your choice.

Ryan, please feel free to own this bug and go ahead with packaging.

I am interested in adopting this package. I have been using grok in

Let me know anything as needed.

Bug#1012761: ITP: shtab -- generator for shell tab completion files for python projects

2022-07-03 Thread Stephan Lachnit
Hi Felix,

The package is looking good so far, I only request one change, namely
renaming the source package from shtab to python-shtab. The reason for this
prefix is that else repology.org won't be able to map the package
automatically.

Cheers,
Stephan

Hi Philip,

I would love to sponsor this. Are there any updates on packaging? Your
Salsa repository is empty.

Cheers,
Stephan

Bug#1014267: ITP: icingadb-web -- Icinga DB Web for Icinga Web 2

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Bas Couwenberg

pkg-nagios-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org

* Package name: icingadb-web
  Version : 1.0.0
  Upstream Author : Icinga GmbH
* URL : https://icinga.com
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: PHP
  Description : Icinga DB Web for Icinga Web 2

Icinga DB Web pushes your monitoring stack to the next level.
Based on the lessons learnt with the base monitoring module,
it offers a modern and streamlined design to provide a clear
and concise overview of your monitoring environment.

The package is required to complete the set of Icinga DB components.

With the release of Icinga 2.13.4, the IDO feature is deprecated in
favour of Icinga DB.

The package will be maintained alongside the other Icinga packages in
the Nagios team.

Bug#969155: RFP: icinga database -- database for icinga 2

I don't know how feasible it is to get icingadb [0][1] and icingadb-web
[2][3] into Debian. icingadb-redis [4] is undesirable, including a fork
of redis in Debian is not a good idea.

If embedded copies of the Go sources can be included in the source
package it might be doable to get the icingadb packages into Debian,
packaging all the dependencies separately is unlikely to happen.

I managed to build an icingadb package using an additional component
tarball for the dependencies.

Initial packaging didn't use the golang buildsystem nor dh_golang like
the upstream packaging.

With a little more work it now uses the golang buildsystem and dh_golang.

DH_GOLANG_BUILDPKG needs to be specified to build cmd/icingadb.

GO111MODULE=on needs to be exported to use the dependency modules and
those need to be symlinked in the GOPATH which is set to the build
directory.

Preliminary packaging is available on Salsa:

 https://salsa.debian.org/nagios-team/icingadb

We now need to package icingadb-web to complete the set of Icinga DB
components.

Kind Regards,

Bas

* Package name: mtkclient

  Upstream Author : Bjoern Kerler
* URL : https://github.com/bkerler/mtkclient
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Unofficial MTK reverse engineering and flash tool

mtkclient is a tool for exploitation, reading/writing flash, and other
interesting things on devices with MediaTek SoCs.

I am packaging this tool because I use it to install custom operating
systems on my LG K40, which normally has no way to flash new images or
unlock the bootloader.
I plan to maintain this package in the Python team.
