Bug#877103: ITP: python-rebulk -- Define simple search patterns in bulk to perform advanced matching on any string

2017-09-28 Thread Etienne Millon
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Etienne Millon <m...@emillon.org>

* Package name: python-rebulk
  Version : 0.9.0
Upstream Author : Rémi Alvergnat (https://github.com/Toilal)
* URL : https://github.com/Toilal/rebulk/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : Define simple search patterns in bulk to perform advanced
matching on any string

ReBulk is a python library that performs advanced searches in strings
that would be hard to implement using re module or String methods
only.

It includes some features like Patterns, Match, Rule that allows
developers to build a custom and complex string matcher using a
readable and extendable API.

This library is a dependency for new versions of python-guessit,
already in Debian and maintained by myself in the DPMT.

I intend to maintain it there as well, and comaintainers are more than
welcome.

Thanks

Bug#535073: ITP: dolphin-emu -- Dolphin Gamecube / Wii Emulator

2015-01-11 Thread Etienne Millon
Hi James.

Thanks for working on dolphin, it will be a great addition to the set
of emulators available in Debian.

I had a look at your package and it looks very good to me (although I
have not had a thorough look at d/copyright). The only remark I have
is that you can drop the version constraints on cmake and libxi-dev
which are satisfied in oldstable (cme check dpkg returns this
information).

Bug#698258: ITP: python-charade -- universal encoding detector for Python 2 and Python 3

2014-02-14 Thread Etienne Millon
Hi,

According to pypi, charade has been merged into chardet.
Is packaging charade still relevant?

* https://pypi.python.org/pypi/chardet:
This is a continuation of Mark Pilgrim's excellent chardet.
Previously, two versions needed to be maintained: one that supported
python 2.x and one that supported python 3.x. We've recently merged
with Ian Corduscano's charade fork, so now we have one coherent
version that works for Python 2.6+.

Bug#628689: Bug#553035: willing to help

2014-02-13 Thread Etienne Millon
* Alexandre Detiste alexandre.deti...@gmail.com [140129 09:24]:
I use this game and I'm willing to help.

Hi,

Unfortunately not a lot has changed since my last message. Due to the
non-redistributability of opentyrian-data, it's impossible to create a
source package for it. For the moment I created an open-tyrian binary
package that installs the data files to
/usr/share/games/opentyrian/data. The zip can be found at the
following URL:

http://www.camanis.net/tyrian/tyrian21.zip

However it's not possible as is. This zip file should be downloaded
and unpacked during postinst to somewhere in /var (cache or lib). It
is also possible to do this before launching the game somewhere in
$HOME. The latter is probably better as it avoids to download as root.

In the meantime, if you want to test, you can remove the dependency
and launch the game in a directory where data/ contains game data (see
src/file.c).

For the actual download code, I don't know if it's possible to use
game-data-packager, but it's always possible to roll our own solution,
à la flashplugin-nonfree.

In the meantime, I refreshed my packaging, fixed a few
warnings and pushed my package to the following URL:

git+ssh://git.debian.org/git/pkg-games/opentyrian.git

As you can see your help is welcome :)

You can add yourself to Uploaders and help fix the remaining lintian
warnings, do the copyright review (should be OK), and/or of course
find a solution for the data files :)

If it's your first package I'll be happy to help you.

Please let me know what you're interested in.

Right now it can't deliver directly to a Maildir, but it's possible

* Dominik George n...@naturalnet.de [131026 13:08]:
I do not see why. A sponsor can decide to sponsor or not to sponsor
the package without any discussion if they feel so inclined.

I see two benefits in filing an ITP in advance:

  - it reduces work duplication, should another person work on this
package at the same time.
  - it can answer the usual questions: is this package needed, what
need does it answer, is it legally suitable for inclusion in
Debian.

(cf. devref §5.1)

The second point is in part answered by a sponsor, but as ITPs are
CC'd to d-devel the whole project (and not only people interested in
sponsoring) can discuss about it.

(Just to be clear, I have no objection to including rssdrop.)

Hello,
I had a quick look to your package. Note that I'm not a DD so I can't

  - for a NMU, the package version should be -15.1, not -16.1

  - I think that your changes a bit invasive for a NMU. Most notably,
changing the packaging system is not OK even if using quilt
directly is outdated. If you decide to adopt this package, it's
good though.

  - the package does not build in a clean chroot. FWIW use a i386
system and the log tail is :

Preparing completed. You may now run make (or gmake).

  - You bumped S-V, were there any changes ? (ie, did you review the
checkilist?)

  - the this patch header follows DEP3 comment is probably superfluous

  - in debian/rules, the commented lines are useless

Thanks for taking care of html2text !

The library packaging guide [5] may help:

Thanks. I might update the upstream guide with these links.

I had an answer from upstream ; they're aware of the problems it
caused in the past and now want to keep compatibility. As a matter of
fact, 1.5.2 was just added to UT and does not break API:

I'll prepare a patch for upstream setting the SONAME to 1 (same as the

  $(PNG_LIBS) $(SDL_LIBS) $(CFLAGS) $(OPENGL_LIB)

Please discuss the SONAME version with the upstream before packaging.

Sure. I just used 0 in my preliminary packaging work but the lack of
soname may be a problem. I'm afraid that it won't be easy to
convince upstream as the library has an history of API breakage [1].

Do you know if we have a comprehensive how-to / why document to
explain these problems ? The upstream guide [2] mentions a library
guide [3], and there's also [4] but everything is good to be
forwarded.

If upstream is not interested, I believe that the best solution is to
package a static library (or embed it into the brogue source package)
but I'd like to avoid that.

Hello Mathias, thanks for tha answer.

I don't use it a lot too but usually problems occur before starting an
actual game :)

If you need a hand to finish the packaging or co-maintain the package
as part of the DGT, I will be glad to help.

Bug#553035: retitle 553035 to RFP: opentyrian -- port of the DOS shoot-em-up Tyrian

2011-05-31 Thread Etienne Millon
retitle 553035 ITP: opentyrian -- port of the DOS shoot-em-up Tyrian
submitter 553035 !
clone 553035 -1
retitle -1 ITP: opentyrian-data -- game data for opentyrian
thanks

Hello,

I am considering packaging opentyrian as part of the Debian Games Team
(CC'd). Actually, most of the technical work is done, but the package
needs a copy of the original game, which has been released under an
unclear license.

From http://www.freewebs.com/worldtreegames/ :

Feel free to play it all you want and share it with friends, but for
the moment I'd like to just have a central backup place (here) for
the game. In the future I might not mind other sites sharing it,
but I do enjoy amusing fans. :)

Depending on the author's point of view, it can end up it main,
non-free or not hit the archive at all.

Bug#615245: RFA: gmpc -- Gnome Music Player Client (graphical interface to MPD)

2011-04-15 Thread Etienne Millon
package wnpp
retitle 615245 ITA: gmpc -- Gnome Music Player Client (graphical interface to
MPD)
submitter 615245 !
thanks

Hello,

I use gmpc on a daily basis, so I would be happy to adopt this
package. I have heard about the newly created pkg-mpd team, and I will
propose them to maintain gmpc in this team.

I am not too sure about gmpc-plugins, as I use none myself. However I
am sure that the team will be interested :)

submitter 573418 !
retitle 573418 ITA: zsnes -- Emulator of the Super Nintendo Entertainment
System (TM)
thanks

Hello,

I have been using this package for years and it seems to need love.
As I am learning how to maintain package, this seems a perfect
candidate for adoption. I am preparing an upload fixing a few bugs,
and will close this ITA when it's done.

Regards,
