Bug#1022074: ITP: ledgerhelpers -- collection of helper programs and a helper library for Ledger (ledger-cli)

* Package name: ledgerhelpers

* URL : https://github.com/Rudd-O/ledgerhelpers
* License : GPLv2+
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : collection of helper programs and a helper library for
Ledger (ledger-cli)

This is a collection of small single-purpose programs to aid your
accounting with Ledger (ledger-cli). Think of it as the batteries that
were never included with Ledger. What can you do with these programs:
 - Enter transactions easily with addtrans.
 - Update your price quotes with updateprices.
 - Record multi-currency ATM withdrawals with withdraw-cli.
 - Record FIFO stock or commodity sales with sellstock-cli.
 - Interactively clear transactions with cleartrans-cli.
 - Keep your ledger chronologically sorted with sorttrans-cli.

I plan to maintain this package inside the Debian Python Team.

Bug#929040: ITP: tty-solitaire -- klondike solitaire game for text terminal

2020-06-01 Thread Marcin Owsiany
close 929040
thanks

After a reconsideration I decided to not package this program after all. In
the year that passed since I filed this ITP it turned I keep finding myself
having less and less free time. I also don't really play solitaire and to
be a good maintainer one needs to use the software regularly. Finally, lack
of pings shows that it is not an eagerly awaited package.

Luckily upstream recently fixed
https://github.com/mpereira/tty-solitaire/issues/14 so of anyone else is
inclined to package it, they should have an easier time doing so.

Bug#602782: ITP: command-runner-applet -- a panel applet which periodically displays a command output

2010-11-07 Thread Marcin Owsiany
Package: wnpp

Upstream Author : Marcin Owsiany porri...@debian.org
* URL : N/A
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : a panel applet which periodically displays a command output

This applet periodically runs a configured shell command and displays its
output in a text label on the GNOME panel.
 .
It is useful for keeping track of something, for which having a terminal
window constantly open would be inconvenient.

It's very simple for now, but does its job. A snippet from the README
follows:

How does it work

You add the applet to your panel the usual way: right-click, select add
to panel and select the Command Runner applet. Once it starts, it loads
its configuration and periodically runs a shell command, displaying its
result in a simple text label on the panel, pausing for 5 seconds
between the command invocations.

The command which is run is configurable via a little 'Preferences'
dialog accessible by right-clicking the applet. There is also an 'About'
dialog. The default command is echo 'Hello.'

What is it good for?

I deveped it to be able to keep an eye on the size of the mail queue on
my laptop, to avoid the problem where a misconfiguration I introduced
would stop any mail from being sent from my system.

Bug#570523: RFP: dunnart -- constraint-based diagram editor

2010-02-19 Thread Marcin Owsiany
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: dunnart
  Version : 0.17
  Upstream Author : Michael Wybrow
* URL : http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~mwybrow/dunnart/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: ?
  Description : constraint-based diagram editor

Dunnart is a prototype constraint-based diagram editor. It includes
standard diagram editing capabilities, as well as advanced features such
as constraint-based geometric placement tools (alignment, distribution,
separation, non-overlap, and page containment), automatic
object-avoiding poly-line connector routing, and continuous network
layout.

The concept behind Dunnart is to use constraint-based methods to free
users from manually maintaining relationships within their diagrams.
These could include geometric relationships, non-overlap,
object-avoiding connector routes or graph layout. In Dunnart, the user
can define these features of their layout and they will be automatically
maintained throughout further editing. The user can override or alter
these relationships at any time

Development of this prototype version of Dunnart has ceased. The code is
currently being cleaned up and ported to the Qt GUI toolkit. Dunnart v2
will reappear in the near future as an open source project, licenced
under the GPL.

Bug#506151: ITP: apt-forktracer -- a utility for managing package versions

2008-11-18 Thread Marcin Owsiany

Package name: apt-forktracer
Upstream Author: Copyright (C) 2008 Marcin Owsiany
URL: http://marcin.owsiany.pl/apt-forktracer-page
License: GPL v2 or later
Description: a utility for managing package versions
apt-forktracer tries to alleviate the problem that APT stops tracking
official versions of a package after you pin it or install a newer
 version.
 .
It displays a list of packages which are in an inconsistent state or
have a version other than the newest official installed. You can choose
to ignore certain packages - if they match certain criteria - with a
 configuration file.

I already announced the intent to write such program in August:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2008/08/msg00248.html

I finally completed it, and it is available for download from the
homepage. The documentation is available there as well. As I said in the
original thread, it is implemented in Python, as I wanted to learn the
language better and I thought it is more appropriate for prototyping.

I am open to suggestions for a better name. Fork may have negative
connotation, but I could not think of anything else that would emphasize
the fact that the program is interested in two versions at the same
time, one of which is official.

Bug#253293: mod-auth-shadow (1.4) to be removed from the archive

Hi,

This is just a notice that as the effect of Bug#429120 the
mod_auth_shadow package for apache 1.x will soon be removed from the

It might make sense to build a transitional pseudo-package from

make sure a note is added to the release notes at appropriate moment, to
allow for a smooth transition for the users.

Hello!

I'm using your mod_auth_shadow on several machines running Apache
1.3 and Debian Woody.

Now I'm switching to Debian Sarge and Apache2. Unfortunately your
module is not packaged for Apache2 in Debian.

I downloaded the latest tarball (mod_auth_shadow-2.1.tar.gz) and
debianized it.

Everything is contained in the debian/ subdirectory. If you add
that directory to your sources, every Debian user can make a
Debian package by simply installing the Build-Depends
packages and running

fakeroot debian/rules binary

I tested it on Debian Sarge (stable) and Etch (testing).

I'm not a Debian mantainer, so I will send this mail also to the
official Debian mantainer of the Apache1.3 mod_auth_shadow
module. May be this will facilitate the Debian packaging.

Techincal details:

- Changed the makefile to be Debian compatibile.
- Added the file auth_shadow.load, used by the Debian install.
- Used dpatch to store all the patches in the debian/ directory.
- Created the postinst script to set proper permissions
  onto validate program.

Description : an Instant Messenger with a plugin structure

This is basically a rewrite of ekg, but with a plugin structure. The
project goal is to provide an internationalized, multiprotocol,
featureful and stable console instant messenger program. So far it has a
ncurses and readline interfaces, and support for gadu-gadu and jabber
protocols (using libgadu and expat, respectively). Also other stuff is
available, such as SMs sending, mail checking, spellcheck etc.

The project is still very dynamically developed, so the first uploads
will certainly be to experimental.

Note: the long package description will be different - I still need to
get to know the program better to provide a nice description.

Bug#251439: ITP: ydpdict -- Interface for the English-Polish Collins dictionary

2004-05-28 Thread Marcin Owsiany
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: ydpdict
  Version : 0.62
Upstream Author : Wojtek Kaniewski [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://toxygen.net/ydpdict/
* License : GPLv2
Description : Interface for the English-Polish Collins dictionary

This is an ncurses interface to the English-Polish/Polish-English Collins
dictionary distributed by Young Digital Poland. It can also play the
pronunciation samples if the CD is available.
 .
This package is only the interface, it does not contain the dictionary files
itself. To use it, you need a copy of the dictionary from YDP.

There are some minor glitches for which I plan to provide a patch to the
upstream author.

Does this program have any purpose without the dictionary data (which I
presume can't be packaged for Debian)? If not, I don't think the package
should be in main - it effectively depends on non-free material in order to
function, hence it should be in contrib.

Yes, of course it belongs to contrib, I forgot to mention that.
Actually debian/control which I have written already contains
Section: contrib/text.

Bug#206991: RFP: db2latex -- XSLT stylesheets for transforming DocBook into LaTeX

2003-08-24 Thread Marcin Owsiany

Description : XSLT stylesheets for transforming DocBook into LaTeX

DB2LaTeX are a set of XSLT stylesheets which generate high level LaTeX2e
from your docbook document. They do not perform any FO transformation,
the only thing they do is to map DocBook tags into more or less standard
LaTeX (a recent installation of LaTeX 2e is required, with most common
packages. However, in more stable releases, package dependencies will be
completely managed with xsl variables, making it virtually compatible
with basic LaTeX 2e installations). All the styling has to be done by
modifying available xsl:variables, overriding and customizing templates,
and in the last, by adding your sty files.

They are heavily based (that is, I started from a local copy and then
start changing things here and there) on Norman Walsh XSL docbook
stylesheets. These stylesheets are published here with Norman Walsh
permission. Copyright and due credit is for Norman Walsh. Bugs are mine.
However, bear in mind the fact that these stylesheets are NOT the XSL
Docbook stylesheets. Thank you.

They are alpha. That means : it may work, it may not work. Your
favourite feature may / may not be implemented. I will be glad to accept
patches in form of XSL code or anything :). Many thanks to those who
have already sent me patches and pointed out some bugs.

Description : open source gadu gadu client for UNIX systems

Gadu-gadu is a instant messaging program popular in poland.
This is an experimental GG client + library. The client itself is
already quite functional, and the library (libgadu) will be depended on
by new version of GNU Gadu (gg source package).

I'm planning to make several binary packages:
 - ekg (the client program)
 - libgadu (the library runtime files)
 - libgadu-dev (the library development files)
 - libgadu-dbg (debugging version of the library)
 - ...?

Bug#121643: ITP: gg -- An instant messenger compatible with Gadu Gadu

Description : An instant messenger compatible with Gadu Gadu

Gadu Gadu is a Windows instant messenger, very popular in Poland.
GNU Gadu is a GTK+/GNOME version for *nix systems.

It seems that the package can be built in three ways: as a GTK+
application, as a GNOME application and as a GNOME applet. I think a
separate, GTK+-only version would be nice, but I still need to find
out how much the GNOME versions differ and if it's worth to provide both.

I suggest a brief explanation of what it is and/or who should care
when you write the long description.

I uploaded the package yesterday (still waiting for manual inclusion),
and its Description is:

Description: Send SMs via Polish GSM operators
This program allows you to send SMs (Short Messages - incorrectly
being called SMSes) to mobile phones operated by three Polish
GSM operators: Era, Plus and Idea.
 .
It sends the messages via web-to-SMS gateways by spoofing a web
 browser.

I guess it's acceptable now..

Description : A program for sending SMs via Polish GSM operators

This is a very useful program, which allows to easily send SMs via
three most popular Polish GSM operators (Era, Plus and Idea).

I'm not sure what package name to choose. It's named sms upstream, but I
don't think
that's a good name for a program specific to one country.
