In the process of writing a brand new application we've discovered that we need a little bit of code that we've invented before. Perhaps it's something to handle unicode text. Perhaps it's something to make a bit of python-2.5 code run on python-2.3. Whatever it is, it ends up being a tiny bit of code that seems too small to worry about pushing into its own module so it sits there, a part of your current project, waiting to be cut and pasted into your next project. And the next. And the next. And since that little bittybit of code proved so useful to you, it's highly likely that it proved useful to someone else as well. Useful enough that they've written it and copy and pasted it over and over into each of their new projects. Well, no longer! Kitchen aims to pull these small snippets of code into a few python modules which you can import and use within your project. No more copy and paste! It is a dependency of the lastid plugin for beets. Support for this plugin has been dropped in the upcoming beets version 1.0b11 (in development) which introduces chromaprint/acoustid plugin which is already packaged. I did know about the chromaprint introduction, indeed. But I didn't see anything mentioning dropping this plugin, neither in the git/hg changelogs nor the wiki. Not that I don't believe you, but Cc: Adrian for confirmation. In any case, it would have allowed me to learn a solid bit about packaging shared libs :). signature.asc Description: Digital signature

This replaces the old lastid plugin, which used Last.fm fingerprinting and is now deprecated. Fingerprinting with this library should be faster and more reliable. http://readthedocs.org/docs/beets/en/latest/changelog.html Oh. My apologies then. I apparently missed the link on the Wiki page. I guess I'll close the ITP then. For the record, I just pushed what I have accomplished so far on github: http://github.com/laarmen/Fingerprinter.git signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#650154: ITP: python-rgain -- Replay Gain volume normalization Python tools
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Simon Chopin chopin.si...@gmail.com * Package name: python-rgain Version : 1.0.1 Upstream Author : Felix Krull f_kr...@gmx.de * URL : https://bitbucket.org/fk/rgain/ * License : GPL-2+ Programming Lang: Python Description : Replay Gain volume normalization Python tools This package provides a Python package to calculate the Replay Gain values of audio files and normalize the volume of those files according to the values. Two basic scripts exploiting those functionalities are also provided. Replay Gain is a proposed standard designed to solve the very problem of varying volumes across audio files. Its specifications are available at http://replaygain.org/ . This package is a dependency of a beet plugin that will be shipped along for the next release[1].
