  Are you interested also in mantaining stable branch? IMO, Martin can
  be considered somehow MIA, and that package needs some care. If you're
  interested, mail him and wait a bit before hickjacking.

By the way, I think we often use -snapshot rather that -devel for the 
development versions from upstream CVS and keep -devel for true 
development tools. Even if it is not a snapshot this might be also of 
use for this package.

and do not forget to previously mail debian-private if you intend to 
maintain also the package for the stable branch, unless you get Martin
