Bug#877041: RFA: ublock-origin -- general-purpose lightweight ads, malware, trackers blocker

2018-06-21 Thread Chris
I would like to take this. It’s been several years since I was involved and
want to get back into the process (and continue to learn).

Absolutely no need to apologise.

I assume you mean a patch for #877040?

Just attach it to an e-mail addressed to #877040. CC me if you like but
I should see it regardless.

Just a heads up, I am still interested in this and have been working on
it. You'll have to excuse the slowness. I am a bit of a sloth as you can
see. 😁

For future reference, what's the best way to submit a patch?

Thank you for your interest!

I am happy to give up the package to someone able to come up with a
complete patch for #877040. This would certainly demonstrate sufficient
competence.

How about you start working on that bug, and then you can become the
maintainer once you have a patch for it?

Hi,

I would like to help out or adopt this project with the original
maintainer's blessing. I use ublock origin all the time. I'm fairly new,
so I will probably have quite a few questions. If Sean doesn't want to
give up the project to me because he doesn't have any time to answer
questions or because he believes this project is too difficult for a
newcomer, I'm okay with that as well.

Thanks,
Scott

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the ublock-origin package.

I do not have time/interest to deal with #877040, which is a bug of
normal severity for now, but will become RC within the next eighteen
months or so. See the bug for details.

This is a team-maintained package, so it would be best if the adoptor
replaced me in Uploaders:, but they could also take the package out of
the team's hands.

The package description is:
uBlock is a small footprint blocker for against web ads, malware, trackers,
 analytics and similar invasive items.
 .
Compared to other blockers like AdBlock and Ghostery, µBlock is focused on
having a smaller memory and CPU footprint.
