this built, integrated and released.

(And a whole lot of Lusca development happens on Debian too! I'm just

Bug#526900: RFP: longloops -- LongLoops -- a brain-stretching turn-based puzzle or arcade game

2009-05-04 Thread Andrew Kay

Package: wnpp

  Version : 1.0.1
Upstream Author : Andrew Kay lo...@wildruby.co.uk
* URL :
http://launchpad.net/longloops/1.0/1.0.1/+download/longloops_1.0.1.orig.tar.gz
* License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : LongLoops -- a brain-stretching turn-based puzzle or arcade
game

LongLoops is a brain-stretching game in which you must build loops
out of sections of pipe. It's both a fast-thinking action game
and a take-as-long-as-you-like puzzle game. Strategic planning
is essential. Ideal for those who find Tetris(tm) too easy.

LongLoops is inspired by Tetris(tm), but with more mental challenge.
Objects fall from the sky in the time-honoured way, but your job
is now to make loops out of the objects. To score well the loops
must be long ones. You won't get far unless you plan every move,
because mistakes are hard to recover from.

I'm much more interested in algorithms and design. I hope someone
will be kind enough to take it away and give it the kind of care

Bug#520955: ITP: xserver-xorg-video-glamo -- X.Org X server --, SMedia Glamo display driver

2009-05-04 Thread Johannes Schauer
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi Luca!

I build a preliminary package for xf86-video-glamo.
I named it 0.1.0 due to the fact that there are no tags yet in the
upstream git repository.

I build the orig.tar.gz from git revision
b8b594393cb85c7c940f22456036d45e598d344e and did `autoreconf -i` on the
source.

The package was mainly inspired by the xserver-xorg-video-fbdev package.

I tried to compile a license file that is accurate enough to cover all
source code comments about copyright and licensing.

Maybe you could fix things and add the missing bits there (Maintainer
and Uploaders fields are still empty) to have the package uploaded into
the pkg-fso repository?

I uploaded the source package and a binary for debian lenny armel here:
http://rabenfrost.net/openmoko/xserver-xorg-video-glamo/

cheers

At least in this month a regression was added to the codebase, you

Hi Johannes!

Quickly reply, before the package reaches a too much wider audience.

This is wrong, sorry, because it will conflict if upstream will release
a 0.1.0 version. I would prefer something similar to the
linux-2.6-openmoko package and indeed the Debian Git repository has an
upstream tag, 20090302.git451398a2:

http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-fso/xf86-video-glamo.git;a=tag;h=16b5d5811976df103796924809786a0a86a93e03

http://git.openmoko.org/?p=xf86-video-glamo.git;a=commit;h=b5eb5f79245bebe7857a4857dda996f82fecf5e5

the Debian package version should be 20090503.gitb5eb5f79-1.

and did `autoreconf -i` on the source.

The package was mainly inspired by the xserver-xorg-video-fbdev
 package.

This is exactly what I tried from the Debian Git repository above and
then I ended up with a compilation error. I did not investigated
further because of lack of time, sorry.

I tried to compile a license file that is accurate enough to cover all
source code comments about copyright and licensing.

Maybe you could fix things and add the missing bits there (Maintainer

Sure, do you want to co-maintain the package?

I uploaded the source package and a binary for debian lenny armel here:
 http://rabenfrost.net/openmoko/xserver-xorg-video-glamo/

I would remove them ASAP, simply because the version problem is a
serious one IMHO.

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca

Bug#526936: ITP: formalchemy -- auto-generation and customizable form fields from SQLAlchemy mapped classes

2009-05-04 Thread Arnaud Fontaine
Package: wnpp
Owner: Arnaud Fontaine ar...@debian.org
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: formalchemy
  Version : 1.2
Upstream Author : Alexandre Conrad aconrad(dot.)tlv(at@)magic(dot.)fr
* URL : http://formalchemy.googlecode.com
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : auto-generation and customizable form fields from
SQLAlchemy mapped classes

FormAlchemy greatly speeds development with SQLAlchemy mapped classes
(models) in a HTML forms environment. It also provides support for
CouchDB and a Pylons administration interface.

FormAlchemy eliminates boilerplate by autogenerating HTML input fields
From a given model. FormAlchemy will try to figure out what kind of HTML
code should be returned by introspecting the model's properties and
generate ready-to-use HTML code that will fit the developer's
application.

Of course, FormAlchemy can't figure out everything, i.e, the developer
might want to display only a few columns from the given model. Thus,
FormAlchemy is also highly customizable.

This package will be packaged as part of the python-modules debian team.

Regards,
Arnaud Fontaine

This is wrong, sorry, because it will conflict if upstream will release
a 0.1.0 version. I would prefer something similar to the
linux-2.6-openmoko package and indeed the Debian Git repository has an
 upstream tag, 20090302.git451398a2:

the Debian package version should be 20090503.gitb5eb5f79-1.

How about 0~20090503.gitb5eb5f79-1, so it can go to 0.1 if upstream
eventually decides to start making releases?

Just thought I mention what needs to be done before xbmc can even be
considered for upload to Debian (and just about any distro for that
   matter).

So far, I've encountered two issues that need to be resolved before
   xbmc can be uploaded.

   1. xbmc needs to use system libraries instead of the internal libraries
   provided in the source.
   2. xbmc needs to follow the requirements of the FHS.

I am currently working on the first issue. For anyone interested, you
can checkout the changes I've implemented in their SVN repo under the
external-libraries-support branch. I merge fairly frequently with the
linuxport branch so that the only difference between the two branches
is that one supports the use of external libraries.

Any help is welcome. For anyone interested, here's a good place to
   start = http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=XBMC_for_Linux

Here's a place for any feedback on the external libraries support
   = http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/5416

Thank you very much for your work in getting XBMC packaged for Debian.

Could you give a status update on your work? And even better could you
provide packages in a private repository for testing?

As you probably know there are also packages for Ubuntu available [1].
Do you guys work together to save work?

As you probably know XBMC 9.04 (Babylon) Beta 1 was released some days
 ago [3].

XBMC could probably attract more users and get more testing, if it is
 packaged for Debian.

Could you give us a status update, please?

Alright. I'm still working on getting xbmc to use system libs instead of the
internal libs included with the xbmc source. I've had a setback with ffmpeg
where
I had to drop back to using the internal libs for ffmpeg. I haven't gotten
around
to fixing this.

As with the FHS issue, I think this will be a trivial fix anyway so once xbmc
uses system libs, then an upload to Debian will surely follow soon.

For anyone wondering, there's a 99.9% chance there won't be an upload for the
release of XBMC 9.04 to Debian. :-(

 Thanks a lot,

 Paul

Please don't package this version. It has a known regression that is

If you want to package something that reliably works and has been
tested for a while, consider packaging git revision 703acea131caf72e

What version of ffmpeg does xbmc include? I think a lot of trouble can
be avoided if a version is integrated that is shared by debian and other
ffmpeg downstreams. Since version 0.5 was released recently, that would
be a good candidate.

In fact, Debian tracks the 0.5 release branch of ffmpeg, and will
