Re: Mailing to update the CD-Vendor page [replace previous mail]
Hi all, many thanks (Laura and Adam and Paul) for your inputs that have been adopted. Here is the new version to send next monday. Still I find the title "Debian install Media Vendors" very long but I do not see better right now. Any idea still welcome until the mailing day. I think I can see where "then" came from, but it sounds a little odd in English. "Therefore" or "as a result" would be more natural, imo. In this context, "information" is an uncountable noun, so doesn't have a separate plural form. Regards, Adam

Hi I have some suggestions (discard them if you don't find them useful, no worries): El 28/06/17 a las 09:31, Alexandre Delanoë escribió: > Le 28 juin 17, vers 09:28, Alexandre Delanoë ecrivait: > Le 27 juin 17, vers 23:15, Paul Wise ecrivait: >> On Tue, Jun 27, 2017 at 9:24 PM, Alexandre Delanoë wrote: >> >>> The release of Debian 9, code name "Stretch", has been announced [0] ! >> >> I would suggest to add a sentence similar to this here: >> >> Please provide Debian 9 CD/DVD/BD/USB media to your customers by default. > > Ok. > > I change the email in order to be more straight forward and to indicate > that information. > > Do you prefer this new version of the email? > > --8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<-- > Title: Debian Vendor Page update (takes 5 minutes to reply to 3 questions) > I would change the title to: Title: Debian Vendor Page update (takes 5 minutes to reply) (see below for reasoning). > Dear Debian CD Vendor, > > The release of Debian 9, code name "Stretch", has been announced [0] ! > > [0] https://www.debian.org/News/2017/20170617 > > Then, we are in the process of updating the "CD Vendors" web-page [1] > on which you have an entry. > > Please reply to this email removing and/or adding your answers: > > -- > > 1) Do you still provide Debian supports ? I would change question 1 for 1) Do you still provide Debian CD/DVDs? I find "supports" word confusing ("are you a Debian consultant?"), but I'm not a native speaker. If we don't want to use CD/DVDs we can change to "media" or "install media". Maybe a complete reword of the CD section is needed (e.g. the form only allows to check CD/DVD, if they sell BlueRay or USB I guess they need to note it in the comments field). > > Your answer: YES / NO > > If yes : remove "NO" above and continue > else : remove "YES" and send your reply > > > > 2) Are your informations still relevant on this page [1]: > (Advice: Please provide Debian 9 CD/DVD/BD/USB media to your customers by > default) > > [1] https://www.debian.org/CD/vendors/ > > Your answer: YES / NO > > If yes : remove "NO" above and continue > else : remove "YES" above and add here the modifications > > I would change the "ifyes/ else" in question 2 for: If yes : remove "NO" above and send your reply else : Please go to this page to update your info: https://www.debian.org/CD/vendors/adding-form (and thus, no question 3 needed (in the form there is a link to the vendors/info page). This way, we would get "NO" answers for the entries needed to delete, "YES" for the entries that remain current, and the traditional form submission for the entries needed to update. What do you think?
