Re: Bug#546538: warzone2100: 546538: probably a driver/KMS issue
reassign 546538 xserver-xorg-video-intel affects 546538 +warzone2100 thanks This one time, at band camp, Paul Wise said: This is very likely to be a bug in the newer version of your driver, the kernel or mesa. Please reassign it to the appropriate xserver-xorg-video package and set the affects to warzone2100. I imagine a debugging session in #debian-x or the appropriate upstream IRC channel will be needed to figure this issue out. It would be very much worth installing some other OpenGL games/packages and trying them to see if any others have the same issue. I tried extreme tux racer, it works without any problems, which is why I thought I'd file the bug on warzone2100 instead of the driver. Here is a bug that looks similar that might have hints about what workarounds might be available: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/warzone2100/+bug/374531 The obvious workaround to try would be to disable KMS and downgrade to testing instead of unstable, IIRC the X stack hasn't migrated to testing since before lenny was released. That launchpad bug is indeed relevant - it's almost exactly the symptoms I'm seeing, and the same video card. I'll reassign this over to the video-intel driver. Bug#546574: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Various scrolling issues
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics Version: 1.1.2-1 Severity: normal With the recenlty upgraded synaptics driver, two finger scrolling now works from the hal-settings. Yet, there are various issues. - Horizontal two finger-scrolling not working - When circular scrolling is disabled, side scrolling (horizontal and vertical) does not work at all - When circular scrolling is enabled, side scrolling along the bottom works as vertical scrolling. It seems different from regular circular scrolling, as it is slower (which is as it is setup). Two-finger scrolling is great, but I do miss the ability to do horizontal scrolling. -- Package-specific info: /var/lib/x11/X.roster does not exist. /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Bug#546586: xorg: X server lockup in int10 when booting a secondary card
Subject: xorg: X server lockup in int10 when booting a secondary card Package: xorg Version: 1:7.4+4 Severity: important Hello, I just run aptitude upgrade and my multiseat setup isn't working any more. The experience is as described in freedektop.org bug 18160. I would prefer helping with a solution rather than being forced to downgrade xorg. In more detail: On an old AMD K7 I was running a multiseat setup with an equally old NV34 [GeForce FX 5200] rev 161 and an ATI Technologies Inc RV 610LE PCI [Radeon HD 2400] rev 0. First a Dummy X server was started, then the X server for the primary AGP NVidia card, and then the X server for the secondary PCI ATI card. After the upgrade the first two X servers start but the third hangs after loading int10. I will attach the xorg.conf files and the logs later. Best regards, Alexander. This causes mass confusion when a SIGIO event occurs in the middle of XTest event processing. Package: libgl1-mesa-dri Version: 7.5.1-1 Hi, Today Debian Squeeze's updates bring X.org 7.5 with all the promises of the libpci rework and X Server 1.6 that should solve a very old bug preventing DRI from working correctly on Itanium workstations (see http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7770 for details). There was hope some month ago in Unstable with X Server 1.6 RC2 and Mesa 7.3.1 (see comments #38 and followings if interested), but it seems that DRI on Itanium is broken again :-( In order to prevent any mis-configuration, I'm running X without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. I can see from the Xorg.0.log file that DRIScreenInit fails, but I can't determine why. However, glxinfo reports that DRI is activated, but the FPS reported by glxgears clearly indicate that rendering is performed by software, as confirmed by the output of LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose: libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/tls/swrast_dri.so There's also an error reported in the DRM information from dmesg: [0.769426] IOC: reserving 512Mb of IOVA space at 0x6000 for agpgart [ 11.717911] Linux agpgart interface v0.103 [ 11.826053] agpgart: HP ZX1 IOC: IOPDIR shared with sba_iommu [ 11.826412] NULL: AGP aperture is 512M @ 0x6000 [ 11.826447] agpgart: Detected HP ZX1 HWP0003 AGP chipset (ioc=fed01000, lba=fed28000) [ 23.807789] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810 [ 23.821636] [drm] Initialized radeon 1.30.0 20080528 for :80:00.0 on minor 0 [ 24.137421] [drm:drm_mmap_locked] *ERROR* Could not find map [ 249.031829] [drm:drm_mmap_locked] *ERROR* Could not find map Is there something else I can try to help diagnose what's going wrong? Bug#546609: xserver-xorg: Blank screen if switching from vt7 to vt1 and back to vt7, after kdm login
Brice Goglin wrote: Boris shtrasman wrote: Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.4+4 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system Happen starting from 7.4 (i tested it with 7.3 where it didn't happen). Bug#495382: marked as done ([xserver-xorg-video-nv] machine crash when shutting down desktop environment session to diplay manager on 8600M GT)
Your message dated Tue, 15 Sep 2009 00:53:23 -0400 with message-id 4aaf1dc3.1050...@gmail.com and subject line Seems fixed has caused the Debian Bug report #495382, regarding [xserver-xorg-video-nv] machine crash when shutting down desktop environment session to diplay manager on 8600M GT to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 495382: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495382 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems ---BeginMessage--- Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv Version: 1:2.1.10-1 Severity: normal I got a complete machine crash when shutting down KDE, when kdm should have showed. I was able to reproduce this every time I tried on this install. I'm able to reproduce on other lenny installs on the same machine. I'm able to reproduce with all versions supporting my card I tried, going back as far as 2.1.3. The machine stops responding to pings. Ctrl+Alt+Del (or maybe pressing some other keys) can cause the machine to reboot after a few seconds. This also happens with GNOME instead of KDE and xdm instead of kdm. This does not happen when not using a display manager. I was unable to reproduce with other GNU/Linux distributions. I tried Mandriva Linux, Fedora and PCLinuxOS, using versions 2.1.8 and 2.1.10. I'm therefore not sure that this is an upstream bug, but it does look like https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15238 I didn't feel like installing Slackware to try reproducing though. The only difference is that the screen is different. I get a mostly black screen except for 2 incomplete lines with text characters. At least one of those lines flashes. This machine uses VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M GT (rev a1). This uses the NB8P chipset. I was unable to reproduce on 1 other machine I tried, although the card is very different (GeForce 4). I have no similar card to try reproducing. I was unable to reproduce with the vesa and nvidia drivers. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 2.6.25-2-686 Debian Release: lenny/sid 990 testing security.debian.org 990 testing debian.savoirfairelinux.net 500 unstabledebian.savoirfairelinux.net --- Package information. --- Depends(Version) | Installed -+-=== libc6 (= 2.7-1) | 2.7-13 xserver-xorg-core (= 2:1.4) | 2:1.4.2-3 ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- retitle 495382 Xorg hangs when shutting down desktop environment session to diplay manager on 8600[M] GT fixed 495382 1:2.1.14-2 thanks I take back my previous message. I retested this on the same machine, with an install dating from just before lenny was released. The results with that install aren't the same as those I originally described. Xorg just hangs as described by Bill, so the machine replies to pings and can be recovered via SSH. I don't know if the bug I first experienced simply hid this one, or if it was partially fixed, but I'm just going to retitle the bug pretending the bug evolved. Furthermore, this problem disappears after the recent X upgrade in squeeze. Updating xserver-xorg, xserver-xorg-core, xserver-xorg-video-nv and x11-common fixes the problem. Since the video ABI changed, I'm not sure the bug was in nv, but I'll simply mark this as fixed in nv 2.1.14-2. nv works fine now. ---End Message---
