Package: xserver-xorg-video-tga
Version: 1:1.2.0-1
Severity: wishlist
User: debian-...@superh.org

Hi!

I am now trying to run Debian on Renesas SH(sh4) CPU.
xserver-xorg-video-tga can build on sh4. I attached build log.
Could you add sh4 into support architecture list?

Best regards,
 Nobuhiro

This one time, at band camp, Paul Wise said:
This is very likely to be a bug in the newer version of your driver, the
kernel or mesa. Please reassign it to the appropriate xserver-xorg-video
package and set the affects to warzone2100.

I imagine a debugging session in #debian-x or the appropriate upstream
IRC channel will be needed to figure this issue out.

It would be very much worth installing some other OpenGL games/packages
and trying them to see if any others have the same issue.

I tried extreme tux racer, it works without any problems, which is why
I thought I'd file the bug on warzone2100 instead of the driver.

Here is a bug that looks similar that might have hints about what
 workarounds might be available:

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/warzone2100/+bug/374531

The obvious workaround to try would be to disable KMS and downgrade to
testing instead of unstable, IIRC the X stack hasn't migrated to testing
 since before lenny was released.

That launchpad bug is indeed relevant - it's almost exactly the symptoms
I'm seeing, and the same video card. I'll reassign this over to the
video-intel driver.

Cheers,

Bug#546574: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Various scrolling issues

2009-09-14 Thread Sjoerd Hardeman
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.1.2-1
Severity: normal

With the recenlty upgraded synaptics driver, two finger scrolling now works
from the hal-settings. Yet, there are various issues.
- Horizontal two finger-scrolling not working
- When circular scrolling is disabled, side scrolling (horizontal and vertical)
does not work at all
- When circular scrolling is enabled, side scrolling along the bottom works as
vertical scrolling. It seems different from regular circular scrolling, as it
is slower (which is as it is setup).

Two-finger scrolling is great, but I do miss the ability to do horizontal
scrolling.

Bug#546586: xorg: X server lockup in int10 when booting a secondary card

2009-09-14 Thread Mader, Alexander
Subject: xorg: X server lockup in int10 when booting a secondary card
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.4+4
Severity: important

Hello,

I just run aptitude upgrade and my multiseat setup isn't working any
more. The
experience is as described in freedektop.org bug 18160. I would prefer
helping with a solution rather than being forced to downgrade xorg.

In more detail: On an old AMD K7 I was running a multiseat setup with an
equally old NV34 [GeForce FX 5200] rev 161 and an ATI Technologies Inc
RV 610LE PCI [Radeon HD 2400] rev 0. First a Dummy X server was started,
then the X server for the primary AGP NVidia card, and then the X server
for the secondary PCI ATI card. After the upgrade the first two X servers
start but the third hangs after loading int10.

I will attach the xorg.conf files and the logs later.

Best regards, Alexander.

EXA: Only take special code path for 1x1 fill for pixmaps.

It doesn't make sense for windows.

Also double-check that the data pointer is valid.

Fixes http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23461 (not sure that could
happen on master even without this, but just in case)

Don't reset the lastDeviceEventTime when doing DPMS actions

When we change the DPMS mode, don't play games with the last event time as
this breaks applications using IDLETIME to turn the backlight off after a
preset time.

This patch fixes gnome-power-manager and xfce-power-manager

Block signals while delivering XTest events (fixes bug 23100)

XTest uses the same event list as all input devices, and input devices
use it at SIGIO time. This causes mass confusion when a SIGIO event
occurs in the middle of XTest event processing.

The master branch has a much different fix, using a separate input
queue which reduces latency that may be caused by XTest event queuing;
it's a 'nicer' fix in some ways, but this simple fix should solve the
problem.

Ensure that rotation updates happen frequently

The smart scheduler is designed to minimize scheduler overhead by
increasing the interval between WaitForSomething calls when a single
client is running. However, the software rotation code depends on
its BlockHandler being invoked for screen updates; the long delays
caused by the smart scheduler optimizations means that screen updates
can be delayed a long time as well.

The change is simple -- prevent the smart scheduler from increasing
the scheduling interval while any screen is using software rotation.

Bug#546603: [xorg] have no mouse or keyboard after xorg upgrade

Severity: critical

When I get the
gdm prompt I have no keyboard or mouse. I can connect to the computer remotely
which is how I
am submitting this bug report. The computer is an IBM thinkpad T42p.

You can see it has an ATI video card so X is trying to use the radeon driver.

I see this in my Xorg.0.log:

(II) Cannot locate a core pointer device.
(II) Cannot locate a core keyboard device.
(II) The server relies on HAL to provide the list of input devices.
If no devices become available, reconfigure HAL or disable
AllowEmptyInput.

I am attaching my Xorg.0.log and my xorg.conf. What do I need to do to make
this work?

I was previously using fglrx but the upgrade to xorg removed fglrx so I can't
easily go
back to fglrx which is okay if the radeon driver will work.

Hi,
After this upgrade my machine did very slow, and xorg take about 100% of CPU
at /var/log/Xorg.0.log I read:

(EE) intel(0): [drm] Failed to detect GEM. Kernel 2.6.28 required.
(EE) intel(0): Failed to become DRM master.

My kernel was linux-image-2.6.26-2-486
Now I have linux-image-2.6.30-1-486 and can use my laptop...

Why this upgrade don't require upgrade of kernel?

Thanks, Luiz

Why this upgrade don't require upgrade of kernel?

Because it's not possible to do that.

Cheers,
Julien

Package: xserver-xephyr

Hi,

although Xorg is now able to start without a 'fixed' font, Xephyr still
fails to start when xfonts-base is not installed.

Therefore, it should depend (or at least recommend, for the twisted
minds using Xephyr with a font server) on xfonts-base.

Hi,

as explained in [0], gnome-power-manager 2.28 will stop including any of
the (not always working) kludges to work around the idle time
computation issues in the X server.

The author has provided supposedly correct patches to fix this behavior
to Xorg. The first patch has already been committed, and the second is
very small. It would be nice to have these fixes included in Debian
before g-p-m 2.28 is uploaded.

I’m attaching the patches.

Subject: Xext: fix up wrong conditions for negative sync transitions.

If the counter had a value higher than the trigger value for a negative
transition, the trigger value did not get set.

The correct sequence of checks is:
if (positive transition)
   if (counter value  trigger value)
  set up trigger
if (negative transition)
   if (counter value  trigger value)
  set up trigger

Sorry , can't i don't have access to more machines (only one pc to my
disposal).
Is there a way that i could record the state ?
for instance start some app that will record / the state using GDB ?

No, it seems not. I just booted 2.6.31 and debian 2.6.30-1-amd64

Bug#546655: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: [dri] DRIScreenInit failed

2009-09-14 Thread Émeric Maschino
Package: libgl1-mesa-dri
Version: 7.5.1-1

Hi,

Today Debian Squeeze's updates bring X.org 7.5 with all the promises of the
libpci rework and X Server 1.6 that should solve a very old bug preventing
DRI from working correctly on Itanium workstations (see
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7770 for details). There was
hope some month ago in Unstable with X Server 1.6 RC2 and Mesa 7.3.1 (see
comments #38 and followings if interested), but it seems that DRI on Itanium
is broken again :-(

In order to prevent any mis-configuration, I'm running X without any
/etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

I can see from the Xorg.0.log file that DRIScreenInit fails, but I can't
determine why. However, glxinfo reports that DRI is activated, but the FPS
reported by glxgears clearly indicate that rendering is performed by
software, as confirmed by the output of LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose: libGL:
OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/tls/swrast_dri.so

There's also an error reported in the DRM information from dmesg:
[0.769426] IOC: reserving 512Mb of IOVA space at 0x6000 for agpgart

[ 249.031829] [drm:drm_mmap_locked] *ERROR* Could not find map

Is there something else I can try to help diagnose what's going wrong? I'll
add my Xorg.0.log contents and glxinfo output in separarate attachments.

Thanks,

 Émeric

Restore FamilyKrb5Principal definition

Even if Kerberos5 support is currently unimplemented in the X server
libXau, the Family id for the X11 protocol is still defined and reserved
for Kerberos5, and should be recorded here for interoperability with
other implementations and to avoid reuse if someone adds a new
authentication family in the future.

Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv
Version: 1:2.1.10-1
Severity: normal

I got a complete machine crash when shutting down KDE, when kdm should have
showed. I was able to reproduce this every time I tried on this install. I'm
able to reproduce on other lenny installs on the same machine. I'm able to
reproduce with all versions supporting my card I tried, going back as far as
2.1.3. The machine stops responding to pings. Ctrl+Alt+Del (or maybe pressing
some other keys) can cause the machine to reboot after a few seconds. This
also happens with GNOME instead of KDE and xdm instead of kdm. This does not
happen when not using a display manager.

I was unable to reproduce with other GNU/Linux distributions. I tried Mandriva
Linux, Fedora and PCLinuxOS, using versions 2.1.8 and 2.1.10. I'm therefore
not sure that this is an upstream bug, but it does look like
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15238
I didn't feel like installing Slackware to try reproducing though. The only
difference is that the screen is different. I get a mostly black screen
except for 2 incomplete lines with text characters. At least one of those
lines flashes.

This machine uses VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M
GT (rev a1). This uses the NB8P chipset. I was unable to reproduce on 1 other
machine I tried, although the card is very different (GeForce 4). I have no
similar card to try reproducing. I was unable to reproduce with the vesa and
nvidia drivers.

retitle 495382 Xorg hangs when shutting down desktop environment session
to diplay manager on 8600[M] GT

fixed 495382 1:2.1.14-2
thanks

I take back my previous message. I retested this on the same machine,
with an install dating from just before lenny was released. The results
with that install aren't the same as those I originally described. Xorg
just hangs as described by Bill, so the machine replies to pings and can
be recovered via SSH. I don't know if the bug I first experienced simply
hid this one, or if it was partially fixed, but I'm just going to
retitle the bug pretending the bug evolved.

Furthermore, this problem disappears after the recent X upgrade in
squeeze. Updating xserver-xorg, xserver-xorg-core, xserver-xorg-video-nv
and x11-common fixes the problem. Since the video ABI changed, I'm not
sure the bug was in nv, but I'll simply mark this as fixed in nv 2.1.14-2.

nv works fine now.
