Bug#574828: X freezing after upgrade in 1:7.5+5 with nv and nvidia drivers
Package: xorg Version: 1:7.5+5 Severity: critical Tags: sid I have a Quadro NVS 440, (i.e. 2 GPU, 2 screens in twinview per GPU, and xinerama to unite both groups). Everything was working with nvidia proprietary driver. Now after the upgrade, the X server freezes the box with the nvidia driver. The nv driver has time time to display the pager, let the user move the mouse pointer a bit, but freezes also. I also got this message once, with the nvidia driver IIRC: [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop without a chance to copy the stack trace. Bug#574828: X freezing after upgrade in 1:7.5+5 with nv and nvidia
Latest upgrade was from sid, 80 days ago :/ I made some tests to try to narrow it. I used the same nvidia driver and nvidia glx drivers: ii nvidia-glx 190.53-1 ii nvidia-kernel-2.6.32-trunk-686-bigmem 190.53-1+2.6.32-10 I had it working with lenny: ii xorg 1:7.3+20 But not working (freeze VT, cannot kill X) with testing: ii xorg 1:7.5+3 Thus I guess the big change between 7.3 and 7.5 is the cause. But that's only a guess. Any test I could try ? Bug#398983: marked as done (kdm: Keyboard failure in kde after autologon)
Your message dated Sun, 21 Mar 2010 22:41:36 +0100 with message-id 20100321214136.ga10...@radis.liafa.jussieu.fr and subject line Re: kdm: Keyboard failure in kde after autologon has caused the Debian Bug report #398983, regarding kdm: Keyboard failure in kde after autologon to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 398983: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=398983 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems ---BeginMessage--- Package: kdm Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-1 Severity: minor Probably similar to another bug already reported, but this might contain some additional info. In KDE the keyboard won't work when autologon does the login while the active screen is not the KDM screen (so you're doing something on TTY1 for example). Logging in again solves the problem.
