Bug#710197: Uses deprecate HAL on non-Linux

2013-05-28 Thread Michael Biebl
Source: xorg
Version: 1:7.7+3
Severity: serious
User: pkg-utopia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: halectomy

Hi,

HAL has been deprecated and dead upstream for many years now so I'm
going to request its removal from Debian [1].

Your package has a dependency on hal on non-Linux plattforms.

Please remove that dependency for those plattforms and if applicable
replace with something suitable on those architectures.

Regards,
Michael

Hi,

HAL has been deprecated and dead upstream for many years now so I'm
going to request its removal from Debian [1].

Your package builds with HAL support on non-Linux plattforms.

Please disable HAL support on those plattforms and if applicable, port
it to native interfaces provided on those architectures.

Salut,

Could you consider to use a more recent version of llvm ? We would like
to remove llvm 2.9 from the archive (we have three implementations).

Merci,

I suggest adding a recommends dependency to mesa-dri for the package
libtxc-dxtn0
provided by libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0. The package is currenly available in unstable
S2TC is a most likely patent-free S3TC compatible texture compression.
The performance increase for GL and WebGL applications offering this option is
quite
noticable.

Version: 7.10.2-3

Hi folks,

Would it be possible to include Ubuntu's patch to tell mesa to
not override the regular ldconfig priorities?

This "abi tag" patch would be a reasonable workaround for
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=572895.
Currently I have to use overrides to install my own gl
libraries, which is just apita. Ubuntu's patch makes it
possible to use ldconfig priorities instead, as documented.

AFAIR this abi tag code was included in mesa for some problems
with 2.4.x kernels and TLS libraries (correct me if I am wrong).
It appears to be obsolete today, since Wheezy has no support
for 2.4. Not to mention that the abi tag is restricted to x86
and amd64, even though the old TLS problem was platform
independent.

Many thanx

Harri

Bug#710174: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: many artefacts in GL rendering with Radeon HD 7480D

2013-05-28 Thread manuk7
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Version: 1:6.14.4-8
Severity: normal

I'm trying to use a Radeon HD 7480D chip (integrated GPU in A4 AMD
processor). It works fine with a recent kernel (3.8 from Sid) for
booting with KMS ... but GL applications suffers from a lot of artefacts :

https://pix.isalo.org/upload/original/1369770053.png
https://pix.isalo.org/upload/original/1369769722.jpg

Could tell me if this problem is already known / if i may provide you
informations to try to correct this problem which currently makes this
chip unusable for games ?

Thanks,

Thanks for your help.

KMS was disabled in /etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf.

I also had to edit xorg.conf for the dual monitor setup because the
output names had changed.

It all seems good now.

Thanks once again for both your quick responses.

- make sure firmware-linux is installed
- make sure KMS is enabled
- make sure the radeon kernel module is loaded before X starts

If that's not enough, send along the X log and dmesg.

Pah. If I just change the driver line in my xorg.conf to 'radeon'.,
I get an unusable system.

By dual monitor doesn’t work and it takes 10+ seconds between screen
updates including such thinks as pointer movement. It not really a
usable configuration.

Is there more I need to do to get radeon working ?
