Bug#714424: intel-gpu-tools: intel_lid not installed but manual page is installed

2013-06-28 Thread Paul Wise
Package: intel-gpu-tools
Version: 1.2-1
Severity: normal

I noticed that intel_lid does not get installed in the package but
manual page is installed. Either it should be installed or the manual
page should be removed.

Hi,

There is a long standing bug (~ Aug. 2010) with NumLock not activating
automatically in X or having inverted behaviour (led off - numlock on).
All computers I saw where concerned. This is really annoying.

According to this post, the bug is located in this package :
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=55725&start=15#p332929

NumLock seems to work fine with x11-xkb-utils 7.4+1 (=Lenny)
You can read the thread for more details.

Regards,

Laurent

xbcomp language is absolutely not documented anywhere, which makes it
_really_ difficult to use it. I've not been able to even find the
scarcest wiki page or tutorial on the basics of the language on the web.

Package: xbase-clients
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6
Severity: normal

The man page for setxkbmap says "Only one layout is permitted." for
-layout. But /usr/lib/X11/xkb/README.config has examples like: -layout
"us,cz,de". One of them must be wrong.

-I directory is supposed to append the named directory to search for
layout and rules files, according the the manpage. This does not
seem to be the case, however:

  lapse:~|master|% mkdir empty
  lapse:~|master|% setxkbmap -I empty us
  Couldn't find rules file (evdev)

I only appended an empty directory, but it should never even get
there, since the search list presumably contains /usr/share/X11/xkb.

However, maybe that's cleared when -I is specified, but then the
following should work, but does not.

  lapse:~|master|% setxkbmap -I empty -I /usr/share/X11/xkb us
  Couldn't find rules file (evdev)

It would be nice to mention xkeyboard-config(7) in setxkbmap(1)

Bug#714379: weston: README.Debian gives bad suggestion to make weston suid root

2013-06-28 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: weston
Version: 1.1.1-1

The README.Debian file needs to be updated, running weston as root or
making it suid is no longer necessary. Running weston from the local
console is possible via weston-launch if weston-launch is suid root and
the user

- is a member of the weston-launch group, or

- is running a local systemd session.

I don't really know whether weston-launch should be installed suid root
or not, but creating the group should probably be done in either case.

Package: weston
Version: 0.85.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 5.6.10

Dear Maintainer,
package weston (0.85.0-1) is currently uninstallable due to a depend
(=0.85.0-1) on libwayland0. This depend should read (=0.85.0-2) or (>=
0.85.0-1).

The package also fails to build from source, some libpng12 vs. libpng15 issues.
See https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=weston&suite=experimental

Regards,
Tim

Package: weston
Version: 1.1.1-1
Severity: minor

Hi,

I just tested the latest package version as found on Git (branch:
debian-unstable, not yet uploaded of [1]. One initial observation is
that the X11 backend of weston requires installation of libgl1-mesa-dri.

I suggest adding this package to Recommends: or at least to Suggests:.

Another, probably better option would be moving the different backends
into individual bin:packages and pulling in dependencies (such as
libgl1-mesa-dri for the X11 backend) from there.

Greets,
Mike

The latest Debian packages of wayland and weston are of version 0.85.
That was obsoleted by v0.95 in June 2012. There has since been a stable
release (1.0) in October 2012, and they've stopped doing API breaks. The
current release is v1.0.4: http://wayland.freedesktop.org/releases.html

Package: xbase-clients
Version: 4.0.1-11

The man page of xhost states in the OPTIONS section that
"[+]name The given name (the plus sign is optional) is added to the
list allowed to connect to the X server. The name can be a host name or a
user name."
which simply doesn't work in Linux, right?

Oh, btw, this is interesting too:

$ xhost +user@localhost
user@localhost being added to access control list
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 109 (X_ChangeHosts)
  Value in failed request: 0xfe
Serial number of failed request: 8
Current serial number in output stream: 10

I'm using Debian woody(unstable), Linux 2.2.17, libc6 2.2-5 and X 4.0.1-11

Cheers,
Martin

Bug#714351: weston backend dependencies (X11 -> libgl1-mesa-dri)

2013-06-28 Thread Mike Gabriel

Package: weston
Version: 1.1.1-1
Severity: minor

Hi,

I just tested the latest package version as found on Git (branch:
debian-unstable, not yet uploaded of [1]. One initial observation is
that the X11 backend of weston requires installation of libgl1-mesa-dri.

I suggest adding this package to Recommends: or at least to Suggests:.

Another, probably better option would be moving the different backends
into individual bin:packages and pulling in dependencies (such as
libgl1-mesa-dri for the X11 backend) from there.

Greets,
Mike
