thanks a lot for your help.

Can you be so kind to apply this patch and test if the build completes
correctly? It is probably not the right fix but at least we will see if
there are no other failures later in the process, before uploading -8.

The main difference from -6 and -7 is that the fonts are not builded
anymore and the process goes much further compared to the previous builds
of X.

If error reported in the log was the real error, that would have shown on

Can anybody try to build it manually (like it was done in past iirc) or
tell us if that error is real?

Can an s390 person please test revision 1177 of the trunk in the XSF SVN

The goal of that change was to make sure that s390 stops uselessly
setting up and building the xc-xserver-xfree86-dbg directory. This
should speed up the build a little.

First of all I have got an upstream error, missing semicolon.

4.3.0-0pre1v4 on s390

fails. Everything else works fine.

Anybody an idea?

 Hi folks,

 ARM hasn't built my experimental X 4.2.0 packages since 0pre1v1, and s390
 and little-endian MIPS never have.

If possible, could someone perform builds of 0pre1v3 for these
 architectures?

Static X server builds (i.e., -DDoLoadableServer=NO) are currently
broken on m68k and SPARC, but all other woody architectures seem fine,
which means we're rolling towards 4.2.0-1.

I'd like to know if ARM or s390 will have any problems or not, and get
their MANIFEST files up-to-date before releasing 4.2.0-1.

Please send me an ACK or a NAK so I can proceed with better
 information.

I will give it a try on s390.

Maybe the easiest solution is to build xserver-xfree86 on s390 as well using

Be sure you send me MANIFEST.s390.new, not MANIFEST.s390.

Hi Branden,
could you please add the latest MANIFEST.s390 and the debian/rules patch for
s390 to 4.1. I have done some testing in the meantime and it looks fine so
far.

Are you interested in the modified debian/*.files.s390 as well?

Regards,
Gerhard

How much of XFree86 are you building? I assume you don't have an S/390

I am building the libraries only. It is controlled by the #define
NOT_BUILDING_X_SERVER, which is set in debian/scripts/vars.s390. This is
already part of the official Debian sources.

XFree 4.0.3 and 4.1 on s390

2001-06-30 Thread Gerhard Tonn

Hi,
I am currently working on XFree 4.0.3 and 4.1 for s390.

Below are some issues I have found so far.

First of all, glide shouldn't be prerequisite for XFree on s390.

The xkb files are still in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb instead of /etc/X11/xkb. I
am not quite sure what the reason is, but suspect that it is caused by the
missing Xserver part of the configuration. I have fixed it temporarily by the
following patch.

I have sent the MANIFEST files for 4.0.3 and 4.1 directly to Branden.

After I had created or changed xterm.docs.s390, xutils.files.s390,
xlibs.files.s390 and xbase-clients.files.s390, the packages were built fine.
I haven't tested them yet.

Gerhard
