Upstream did a 1.6.1 release, which includes the mentioned revert. I've cloned and built the 1.6.1 release locally (on top of the Debian packaging repo) and it fixes the annoying problem. I don't have access to pkg-xorg, so I'm pushing my changes (on top of your repo) at: https://github.com/rickysarraf/libi nput Please see if you should include this for Stretch. I already had the issue show on both my laptops. And with 1.6.1, the issue is fixed. - -- Ritesh Raj Sarraf | http://people.debian.org/~rrs Debian - The Universal Operating System -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iQIzBAEBCgAdFiEEQCVDstmIVAB/Yn02pjpYo/LhdWkFAliXPFMACgkQpjpYo/Lh dWkZTRAAl8aYmtzflaP9yusc/9ZJd6bUITzJqzAv6tZe1LIuJ30rq8Xbr4n2lzpw HGSFPkRLtafDzpO2pd4McgMI6lh1aSQJfysnyeq6dScq50guLESZNL11L63Iyfjr cfGJsxFqebmaN5CxXJaFmNDUnW9/+MZjw7KupyVGl1BJItTDXeMH2a7vS9AQTCyR Rf+K3AFtGXPHwvDCTCEaNDKVy94/j+LP0qnZggC2QEtJm+RoIT1G+aTQr3dhLYd8 36KPRUESyvrUDVREzVi9Y8LNhgB+xIgssoQhE9VT9aDzwkDjFWGwnzngCdmceSxE CIdFNj1Twcnjc11MsGCnssX0Ix4yZczk2kN9hQBP2vQiQP6pJEEmAFMJD1qTk1ID u0yTG57Qq6cCAhMluEiCfZLzyD2Lrw34u6l0kfy/uvyIw8BiZwbR5xIITlRkDxQK jREdHYHTcfk+xZIBussPu9aweGZa7vwnWx0ivYSKSzMd6wOG22IwgY6qZC84HGC5 jVlXs2KT4TiJ4a4U8nybtXxkZ+iuZTqj7yZm0HpWJRkNmaH/s/hvo+//Gd6i6gcu k1Sf1xeScoNyN2XSCYICSahoV7jn/o06Jgw10xJyfxW1jmyKgmKp30cpuNLKDNdc iUvw4NC2ZwuO0xT+st53qMq5OMnWxz7LP7ZHlZoWsJGGq/6vVzg= =LvH6 -END PGP SIGNATURE-

Any ideas on where I should start investigating ? I did manually load the nouveau.ko driver as it does not autoload. Is it because of a missing udev rule ? One is about modifying the config file. I think that would not be recommended as X is supposed to move to a default config less setup. How about the 2nd one ? The hal fdi ? Should that be packaged ? How will this bug be fixed ? Bug#513545: same problem
On Wednesday 15 Apr 2009 21:23:40 David Nusinow wrote: X is only supposed to move to a setup without config by default. If you need to customize it, as by enabling tapping, editing xorg.conf is a perfectly acceptable way to do it. If there wasn't supposed to be support for xorg.conf, we would have ripped out the code to handle it a long time ago. There isn't really a bug to be fixed here, just a changed default that people will have to configure by one method or another. Thanks David. Then, this bug report can be closed. DEBIAN_WIKI: multiple displays question
Hi, As per https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=253989 I had one question. X.org 7.3 http://www.x.org/wiki/Releases/7.3 Xserver autoconfiguration (most of xorg.conf becomes useless) RandR 1.2 support on Intel, ATI, and some G80 boards (autodetection of available modes, dynamic resizing, placing and rotating of outputs), but no multiple displays anymore ATI R5xx and R6xx modesetting and 2D acceleration support but no multiple displays anymore What does this mean? No more dual monitor support? PS: Please CC me if possible. I'm not subscribed to the lists. I have wondered about this as well. I know people on this list have used an external monitor on there laptop. What is your proposed use? Perhaps someone here can give you info? I've had terrible times recently. My laptop uses the nvidia driver. I had been using X with TwinView configuration for long. Sometime around 6 months back, one fine day, my TwinView setup stopped working. I can't recollect why. Since I've found nobody else talking about the problem, I believe my vga port might have gone bad. But when I saw the text in the wiki, I've regenerated some hope that it might be the X server which might have the support removed (but that would be the rarest case). I can't try install windows anymore because the entire hdd is already occupied by debian. So, with current nvidia binarly-only drivers, are people able to set TwinView. On Friday 18 Jul 2008 22:30:31 Damon L. Chesser wrote: This is what I did: followed this guide: http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers to install nvidia the debian way. I have also installed nvidia with the nvidia installer. Both ways will work, at least for Sid. then I installed nvidia-xconfig and nvidia-settings Since dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg will not give you a driver selection anymore and making one from scratch is to much work for me, after I install nvidia (the debian way) I run nvidia-xconfig. That will re-write your xorg.conf file to start nvidia. Then I, after I reboot, I run nvidia-settings from with in the GUI (sudo or su to root). I then config twin view with that tool, under advanced, you can also select a secondary config(X Screen tab, MetaMode: Add) where one of your monitors is turned off. This is handy for two reasons: 1. Any game you run full screen will not now be divided between the two monitors. 2. Any full size app will not automaticaly span both monitors, but will only maximize to one monitor size. So that means that nothing changed in the driver. My VGA port got damaged silently. :-( Thank you for the confirmation. X.Org 7.1 to unstable
Hi, X.Org 7.1 and latest Nvidia release 1.0-8774 have support for XVideo with the Composite X extension. :-) Are there any approximate dates as to when X.Org 7.1 would hit unstable ? nvidia-kernel-source has entered unstable.
