It's pretty useless on my system, as it always thinks the lid is closed, even when it's open. I just couldn't come up with any other way to disable the LCD... Is everythings working for you now? I think so. Well, personally, I wouldn't do that. After all, the correct and documented option, Ignore, is still broken. I'd say that if you want to report it upstream, then mark the bug as forwarded; if it's a bug in the X server itself, reassign it. (Or maybe even leave the bug open and assigned to xserver-xorg-video-ati, so that others who might scratch their heads over the same problem might find this bug report, and discover this workaround.)
