RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Latest Kill File Stats- Image`fx

2002-09-25 Thread Tom

I have a question. Are you talking about Imail's kill file or a
different kill file? I ask this because I thought that Imail only
allowed the format in the killfile to be userid@host or @host and
would not work with .host . Let me know because it would be helpful
to me if I could use the .host configuration.

No, this kill file AKA the FROMFILE is a Declude blacklist. It will
not work with Imail without Declude.

Regards,
Tom

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Forwarded Mail

2002-09-25 Thread Hirthe, Alexander

Hello,

that's the way I do it at the moment. I forward all my external adresses to
an Imail user, and collect this.
This works very well. (And with Junkmail pro, you could handle your personal
mail more agressive than the rest ;-)

Is there a way that Declude JM can process mail forwarded
 from another
provider? I get a lot of junk mail from my other Addresses,
 and I would
like to set them up to forward to my primary domain, install
 JM, and have
it weed out the bad mail. Is this possible? I know this would
 change the
headers, so I don't know if there is a way.

Is there any way to fight spam on a 3rd party mail server like this?

 Thanks,

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] SpamReview Request - Delete All

2002-09-25 Thread Tom Schwarz

Roger,

Using standard windows select capibilities you may select multiple entries
with the Shift and Ctrl keys or select all entries using Ctrl-A.

After selecting multiple entries you can use all the normal functions such
as Delete or Move just like you would use them on one selected entry.

Will this take care of your request or would the buttons be better?

This is really want is needed. This way one may inspect select

I would like the buttons actually... I am using the keyboard
commands but I'd like to make these one clicks.. Particularly the
delete all and exit..then this would delete all displayed entries
and all deleted entries in one click. Perahps the other should be
delete all then reload any new entries.. No highlighting would be
required at all.

[Declude.JunkMail] Wordfilter in BASE64?

2002-09-25 Thread Scott MacLean

I just saw an email that *should* have been caught several times over with
various BODY CONTAINS filters, but wasn't - instead, it caught BASE64.
Does Declude decode the BASE64 body and then apply the wordfilter? Because
it seems like it might not.

Declude does not decode base64, rather it simply detects html base64

Yes. A few at first but more are appearing now.

Every message my brother's in-laws send to their daughter (his wife) are in
Base64 for some reason. They are using Outlook Express. I have also seen 5
other addresses who's messages are always in Base64 for some reason.

The only reliable way to use the Base64 test is with a weighting system and
hope the message fails some other tests also.

I asked Scott if he was going to combine the Base64 test and the Filter test
so that we could scan for our own catch phrases in Base64 messages like we
can in plain text messages. I was told no.

Title: Message

We've had a few, but we didn't keep them around. There are some folks on
the list hunting for examples - I've got an eye out but I'm not trying hard.
Statistically it is a very good test.

The only trouble with not scanning inside base64 segments is thatit
reduces your abilityto categorize the message... so, for example, if
there's content there that users on your system want to see - but might
otherwise be seen as spam - you will have to work harder to gate that content
through.

This is why Message Sniffer does open base64 segments to look for
patterns.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Web site problems

2002-09-25 Thread R. Scott Perry

It seems your still having some website problems. I just tried to get your
site and it's down.

Yes -- they got the server back up yesterday, but didn't re-build the RAID
array, which they are doing now. It should be back online sometime within
the next half hour.

[Declude.JunkMail] badheaders test

2002-09-25 Thread Troy Hilton

Hello all,

Can anyone shed any light on exactly what the BADHEADERS test checks for?
I've got a client that is sending me legitimate emails but it's failing the
BADHEADERS test and I can't see why.

Thanks.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] badheaders test

2002-09-25 Thread R. Scott Perry

Can anyone shed any light on exactly what the BADHEADERS test checks for?

It checks for E-mail headers that are broken (non-RFC-compliant). There
are a number of different things that it looks for.

I've got a client that is sending me legitimate emails but it's failing the
BADHEADERS test and I can't see why.

To find out, you need to find the code that Declude JunkMail assigned the
E-mail (such as 80200202). If you use the WARN action, this will appear
in the E-mail headers. Otherwise, you will need to look in the log file.

You can look up the code using the BADHEADERS lookup at
www.declude.com/tools . The most common reason an E-mail will fail the
BADHEADERS test is because it is missing a Date: header (or has no time
zone or an incorrect time zone). This is illegal, and will often cause
E-mail to get lost on a server or mail client. Upgrading the software
sending the E-mail will take care of the problem in almost all cases.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] SpamReview Request - Delete All

2002-09-25 Thread John Shacklett

The buttons don't seem that useful to me, but I would like to mention that I
still see the problem where clicking an existing button too quickly in
succession makes SpamReview bomb with an error box that says Run-time error
'55': File already open.

Ok, SpamReview mailFrom is working great for me with the proper
string detect...!!!

Now for another request. two more buttons:

Delete All - Deletes all entries.

Delete All and Exit - Deletes all entries then exits (deleting
deleted if switch is 'on')

This is really want is needed. This way one may inspect select
messages and manage them then delete the rest in one blow. This
will save me even more time from an already great time saving
program.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] SpamReview Request - Delete All

2002-09-25 Thread John Shacklett

I tend to do it the same way, and I've nearly perfected the perfect cadence
that avoids the near occasion of crash, but I get into someplace like the
doggone yahoo.com messages [I sort by mailfrom domain] where I need to
eyeball them individually, and I get trigger happy sometimes.

John,

I will look into this problem again.

I review and don't delete anything until all that is left in the list is
email to delete. This resolved my happy finger problem where I was delete
email by accident.

Regarding the Delete All button... If I add it, it will be optional. I am
concerned about space on the screen.

[Declude.JunkMail] DSN:Newb Junkmail $default$ file question

Newb here:

Don't laugh: I'm a tobacco farmer from SC: have 450
website customers, and a small data center with 12 cf servers and Imail:
Got this declude software stuff. and I'm trying to figure it out.I need
some help.

My question is about the $default$ file for
JUNK mail - virus questions will come later.

I see most of the default setting are set to "warn"
before I go changing all these settings, because I may not know the short term
impact to my mail server. What should I change right away? And what would you
experts set them too.
If you would like to send me and example that
would be really helpful.
Here is what I have:
