[Declude.Virus] Declude Setup

2001-09-25 Thread J.T. Hoar

Hi,

I am a new user of declude virus pro, and I am using it in conjunction with
Kaspersky's newest NT/2000 server version 3.6.1.3

Here is a my line I am using for the SCANNAME
SCANFILE C:\Progra~1\Kasper~1\Kasper~1\avp32.exe /S/Q/N/W
VIRUSCODE 3
VIRUSCODE 4

here is a snippet of the virus log
09/25/2001 11:04:01 Q9ca40b4 ERROR: Virus scanner didn't finish after 60
seconds; terminating.
09/25/2001 11:04:01 Q9ca40b4 WARNING: Couldn't remove .vir directory: 32.
09/25/2001 11:04:01 Q9ca40b4 Scanned: Virus Free [MIME: 1 596]
09/25/2001 11:04:02 Q9ca50e2 ERROR: Virus scanner didn't finish after 60
seconds; terminating.
09/25/2001 11:04:02 Q9ca50e2 WARNING: Couldn't remove .vir directory: 32.
09/25/2001 11:04:02 Q9ca50e2 Scanned: Virus Free [MIME: 1 590]
09/25/2001 11:04:04 Q9ca60ce ERROR: Virus scanner didn't finish after 60
seconds; terminating.
09/25/2001 11:04:04 Q9ca60ce WARNING: Couldn't remove .vir directory: 32.
09/25/2001 11:04:04 Q9ca60ce Scanned: Virus Free [MIME: 2 1273]

I cannot figure out why it will not allow it to delete the .vir directories,
and why its timing out.
The server is a Win2k server, on a IBM Netfinity Quad Processor Pentium Pro
200mhz (1mb Cache on each chip) and 1.5gb of ram.
We have about 100 domains. and 1500-3000 users.

Any suggestions?

Scott,

The only files being saved are filenames like 0.htm etc.

Kaspersky is scanning the files fine now, but the deletion of the vir
directories is not happening.

I got the termination error cleared, what would be causing the failure to
delete the vir directory?

The .vir directory will normally be deleted by Declude. It will not,
however, get deleted if there are extra files in there. You should check
to make sure that Kaspersky is not saving any files (or creating
subdirectories) in those .vir directories that Declude is not
expecting. If you let me know what files/directories are in one of those
leftover .vir directories, I can let you know what should not be in there.

Do you have an on-access scanner running? It could be locking the files
when Declude tries to delete them.
