0.5.56 released

All,

SPAMC32 has been updated to more easily function as a Declude 'weight'
test type in addition to the default 'nonzero' type and the other
command-line threshold options. See the release notes below and
download from the traditional /release folder.

SPAMC32 Release 0.5.56
11/1/2004
  *

Release notes for this version:

[ + Added feature]
[ * Improved/changed feature ]
[ - Bug fix ]
[ ^ Cosmetic/naming change ]

[+] Added switch '-e' to allow more granular management of SPAMD
weights from a calling application. With -e enabled, SPAMC32 sets its exit
code to the rounded weight received from SPAMD, regardless of
client- or server- based spam thresholds.

I use ClamAV.
Overall it is very effective. More effective than FProt and AVG. About the
same as Mcafee.
If you are willing to turn Prescan OFF, it is good at catching Phish too.

It did have some bad defs last month that caused about 15 emails to be
mis-flagged.

FYI for anyone who is contemplating going to the new version of Ipswitch's
collaboration suite it looks like their yearly renewal prices are going to
be about as much as the initial upgrade costs, I received the below email
from IPswitch. It has been a bit since IpSwitch made their announcements re
the collaboration suite, what is everyone else doing in regard to this? I
am still up in the air here, but leaning further and further away from

2004-11-03 Thread Matt Robertson
Have you been hiding for the last couple of weeks? :-)

Ipswitch first stood firm and refused to budge, then backpedaled when
they realized how pissed everyone was. Now they say they will sell
SA's for a mere $695 to existing users now. Such a deal.

They might sell an Imail upgrade to someone who has Standard. Case-by-case.

They want everyone to upgrade to ICS. The line looks pretty short.

A significant portion of the Imail community is jumping ship, either
out of protest over the pricing or a lack of trust in the company.
Some are staying either as the path of least resistance or they are
comfortable with the new pricing. New purchasers are buying other
products (SmarterMail and Merak in that order seem to be the
preference, with a few renegades going Linux/Postfix).

Me I thought I was going to Merak but now I've gotten my current
client to change his buy to SmarterMail. Heck an unlimited domain
version is $199 via reseller so why not give it a shot. Unconfirmed
rumors abound of a Declude product that works on SmarterMail.

Check the archives :-)

2004-11-03 Thread Jim Matuska
:) no I've been monitoring the list, but I wasn't sure if everyone had
jumped from the burning ship yet, I did know that Imail was still selling
SA's to existing customers for Imail itself, but considering you are paying
for support on an end of life product, it doesn't make much sense. Until
that email today from Ipswitch I didn't know what the renewal costs were
going to be for the new product (it took them a week to get that response to
me too). I'll have to check out those other products you mentioned in your
email.

For those responding about ClamAV, my PPSS.

I meant mxGuard. Is any one using BitDefender with either Declude or
   mxGuard?

What I am wondering is does ICS standard include the same executable for
BitDefender that your are using with your version for Declude?

Don't know, but here are the details of the BitDefender command-line exe I
call with Declude:

11/17/2003 03:04p 81,408 bdc.exe
