Re: [DUG] What is the most useful delphi component you are using?

2009-05-14 Thread John Bird
The KBMMemTable is very good, was worth the $5 for the help file just to find
out how to get better perfomrance out of large table operations. KBMMenTable
is certainly a lot faster than the standard TClientDataSet and as far as I saw
was compatible, even a superset of its functions. Many of the tips and
speedups can be used for the standard DB components and ClientDataSets too.

Where can I read more about TJVDBUltimGrid and TJVUltimGrid? Google only
found questions about using it, nothing to do with what it does and where to
get it.

My vote for favourite component would be the standard VCL - I have tried to get
the standard VCL to do all the singing and dancing I want. Makes for easy
upgrades, and I can tweak. But is more work :(

This is actually a worthwhile debate topic - how much to go for 3rd party
components, and how much to get everything possible out of standard VCL.

(an example screenshot of what I get out of a standard Stringgrid:

http://jbclnz.googlepages.com/ATP.HTM#DIARYVIEW

both grids there are standard stringgrids )

John

  TJVDBUltimGrid and TkbmMemTable

JEDI/JVCL

Thanks for the link. Have heard of JEDI project before, not used it - reason
was simple, the sourceforge project obviouslycontains a lot of stuff, but I
have found nowhere a detailed list of whats there and what it does, eg the
TJVDBUltimGrid

Would like any of:
Broad descritption? properties? Methods? Events? Screenshots? Even a nice
text file?

Leigh,

Senior Developers don't use Components.

They directly call Win32 functions to create their own windows and controls!

Cheers,
David.

P.S. If you believe that then I have a bridge for sale that you might be
