Re: [libreoffice-design] Agenda for design meeting 2018-May-09

2018-05-10 Thread Pedro Rosmaninho
I couldn't edit the GDoc file so I downloaded it and edited it myself. My
conclusion is this: Groupedbar and Tabbed bar are ready for moving out of
experimental. Contextual is not ready.
There are some minor remaining glitches but I don't think any of those
should be a blocker bug.

*Remaining discussion and minor bugs:*
1 - What to do with Sidebar. IMO the current behaviour in 6.1Dev is the
correct behaviour. Sidebar active but hidden. Similar to Softmaker, WPS and
Microsoft Office.
2 - Objects have typically different features as the content. For example,
charts are OLE objects and depending if the object is in edit mode or just
selected the respective toolbar is shown. Sounds awkward and maybe we can
merge it. Or no? *--> The OLE objects toolbar is a pain in the fucking ass.
However, does it not behave as a separate UI than the module in which it is
running? In that case, isn't it possible to design Notebookbar UIs for it?*
3 - Hide Notebookbar button - Not introducing the Notebookbars because of
such a marginal feature?
4 - A few shape buttons (.uno:BasicShapes.rectangle,
.uno:BasicShapes.ellipse, .uno:BasicShapes.isosceles-triangle) are visibly
enabled but not functionally enabled in print preview mode - *à
“Rectangle”, “Rectangle, Rounded” and “Elipse”*
5 - Have Writer and impress open, change to References tab in Writer,
change to Slide show tab in Impress, click slide show settings and then
cancel, alt+tab to Writer and its set on Home

6 - Contextual behaviour broken after exiting print preview mode --*à Could
replicate *tdf#115583

*Features that need to be introduced:*
- Audio & Video [context-Media] Draw Object Properties and Media Playback
toolbars still appears

*Annoying problems unrelated with Notebookbar*

○ Chart

■ None of the contextual tabs/groups work in Chart mode (e.g.
context-Chart, context-ChartElements, context-Axis, context-Series) *à
well, we could say the same about the toolbars!!*

■ Standard toolbar appears when in Chart edit mode and no contextual
tab/group appears

■ Shape buttons in the Drawing toolbar arent enabled in the Insert tab
*--->** this is not related with the Tabbed bar. It's the behaviour of
Chart editing in Calc, it has its own UI. Maybe point Andreas in the
direction where he can create a Tabbed Bar UI for chart editing, because it
is independent from Calc. The Shape buttons aren't enabled because of this!
There is an Object tab though, and one can insert objects when the chart is
simply single-clicked (instead of double-clicked)*

○ Calc

■ Review tab - Add cell protection UNO command (.uno:CellProtection) to
the left of ‘Protect *Sheet’ ---> Still lacking Cell Protection, agreed
that It's quite important.*
Groupedbar minor issues:

● Copy next to Paste? *---> Agreed. No point in having text describing
"Paste". Use the space wasted in writing "Paste" to include a Copy button.*

○ Has conditional formatting under Spreadsheet but this function
applies a style *---> Has Conditional in Styles drop-down and as an icon
next to Styles drop-down. Remove Conditional from Styles drop-down menu.*

Hi Heiko,

Unsure if I'll be able to join.
Some remarks from my side:

Two or three problem coming together in this issue. Maybe it's possible
to start by splitting these out?

Cheers,

We used to have this open discussions in the past and ended up in meetings that
last very long. I'm trying to find topics/tickets/questions that makes it easy
to answer with yes/no after carefully balancing the pro and cons. And
prioritization of tasks is up to the GSoC student and mentor. So what you can
do is to collect the issues, think Jay have done it in a GDoc, and update the
list. Or run a separate discussion on the ML.

I would also add to the discussion what are the blocker bugs that are
preventing removing the Notebookbar from being an experimental feature so
that we can do a final push to have it as a full fledged feature.
