Re: [libreoffice-design] Branding for release 7
Hello, Thank you Pedro Rosmaninho for your appreciation and also to all community members. For whom may it want to see my splash screen proposal for 7 release here's the link: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/Branding/Ideas#By_Rizal_Muttaqin On 09/12/19 05.17, William Gathoye (LibreOffice) wrote: Hello everyone, On 20/11/2019 10:31, Pedro Rosmaninho wrote: I would love to see the splash screen designed by Rizal being used. Do you have a link leading to Rizal's propositions? Also, from my side, even if I know we won't be changing the artwork before version 7, the sooner we can get rid of the current triangle artwork, the better. From the LibreOfficeFR channel, I have received lots of complain about them. Don't forget the splashscreen loader is the very first image someone installing/launching LibreOffice for the first will see. Heiko, I know we spoken in person about this topic at the last FOSDEM, but I remember during these 6.x series, there was some open contest about the artwork and unfortunately the one we didn't want to have has been chosen (the triangle version). This time, better to restrict the final choice to the community. I have worked in a startup for 5 years where some communication work was being made and the client always ended up choosing the solution that shouldn't be used/the least appealing :( Regards, -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: design+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

I wish we stopped featuring numbers in our artwork altogether. It's as if Google Chrome used different artwork in every single new release. I would love to see the splash screen designed by Rizal being used. [libreoffice-design] Branding for release 7
Hi all, time has come to consider required work for the next major release. For the past version 5 and 6 we created a special branding that is shown on the splash screen, the start screen, the about box, and on the Windows installer. The previous artwork is here [1] and input for the next release there [2] and I'd like to ask you for ideas, comments, contributions. Some food for thought: Seven is a prime number, seen as a lucky number but also as the opposite in Asia, the week has 7 days, there are 7 dwarfs, psychologists know a "blue-seven phenomenon" [3], there are 7 continents on earth, some countries such as U.K. use heptagonal coins, people who like soccer know "CR7"... it's a magic number! Let's make release 7 pure mojo! Cheers, Heiko PS: We considered for 6.0 also to keep the original triangles and never change this aspect of branding.
