[Bug 28971] Pages can steal focus from the URL bar when I'm trying to type a URL

2006-01-19 Thread Andrew Bennetts
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28971

Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I set my home page to http://google.com/ because I often want to do a
google search.

However, I also often just want to type a URL (or use a bookmark, I love
epiphany's integration of bookmarks in the location bar).

So, I hit Ctrl-T to open a new tab, then immediately hit Ctrl-L to start
typing a URL. Depending on how fast the network is vs. my typing,
google's search box may or may not steal focus away from the URL bar
before I finish typing. So, often typing smh.com.auenter does what
I want, and sometimes it doesn't, and this is very frustrating.

I think a reasonable solution for this is that a web page should *never*
be able to steal focus from the surrounding browser -- if I'm using the
URL bar (or a menu, or some other widget), then I don't expect that the
web page may grab the focus. I'm happy for the page to be focused at
whereever the javascript likes when I tab into the page or click on the
page to bring the page widget (if that's the term?) into focus, but I
don't want it stolen from elsewhere. Similarly, if the page already has
the focus (e.g. I just clicked a link), then of course I'm happy for the
focus to do whatever the resulting page intends.

[Bug 29003] gnome-screensaver-command behaves differently than xscreensaver-command when screen is locked

2006-01-19 Thread Danilo Piazzalunga
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29003

Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
xscreensaver tries really hard to prevent unwanted way of unlocking the
screen. For example, xscreensaver-command -deactivate simply pokes for
user activity and -exit does nothing when the screen is locked.

gnome-screensaver-command, whose interface is similar to xscreensaver-
command, does not care whether the screen is locked and will happily
unlock it with --deactivate or --exit.

This may be surprising for someone expect xscreensaver-like secure
behaviour from gnome-screensaver.

[Bug 15070] Ugly icon scaling with Human theme

2006-01-19 Thread AppleCrow
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/15070

Comment:
Humm... Basically this is a problem generated by the size of your panel.

Explanation:
Default icons are in png format, and there's some default sizes generated.
With clearlooks default theme, panel has a size of 24 pixels (if I remember
well).

With Human theme, panel has a size of 25 pixels. In this way icons are
resized and look less sharper.

Fix is to set panel size to 24px and/or defined a smaller size of
polices.

[Bug 29005] run dialog(alt-f2) is giving non-usable error message

2006-01-19 Thread Stefan Bethge
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29005

Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When entering a non-existant command into the run dialog and pressing
enter, the error message

Could not open location 'file://asd'

Details: Unknown error code: 13

Pops up - that's rather cryptic and non-informative for a random user. I
would expect either a shaking window like in gnome-screensaver or a more
useful message.

[Bug 28929] Password dialog flicker when wrong password is entered

2006-01-19 Thread Danilo Piazzalunga
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28929

Comment:
I didn't get it :-)

Anyway, such sudden graphical effects make me think that the program is
acting strangely. IMHO a smooth effect would both consistent with the
smooth fading when locking/unlocking the screen and more pleasant. More
like a nice lady than an angry doorkeeper ;-)

[Bug 29043] gpilotd runs away with CPU after completing hotsync

Affects: gnome-pilot (Ubuntu)

 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I have a Palm Vx connected via a serial dock. I have added the gnome-
pilot applet to my panel. After any hotsync (and the gnome-pilot window
closes), my system-monitor panel applet (and the Gnome System Monitor
confirms) indicates 100% CPU usage. The system monitor reports that
gpilotd is using around 80% of cpu power. This is an Athlon 64 3200+
running the AMD64 arch of Ubuntu Breezy.

Right clicking the panel applet for the palm sync and choosing Restart
stops the runaway process.

But even doing this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media# rm -rf cdrom1 cdrom2 cdrom3 cdrom4 cdrom5 cdrom6
cdrom7 cdrom8
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media# rm -rf floppy*

It don't remove that flopy icons from my Computer in nautilus.

I think there is something wrong with libdbus or hald.

Note: I don't have a floppy driver and in BIOS i've set Floopy off.

[Bug 29045] Not 800x600 display friendly

2006-01-19 Thread sk33t3r
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29045

Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I have explained in the forum here:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=119352

Sound preference window frame is not resizable but fixed to a display
resolution of 1024x768, my display setting at the highest can only be
800x600,

My Specs:
IBM Transnote Thinkpad
P3 , 4mb ATI Mach64 Graphics Card
320mb ram
Screen is 10 display

As I stated in the forum we need to set a standard so that windows can
either all be resizable or view within the limitations of 800x600
display for all Ubuntu flavors in Dapper Drake I have also suggested
more in my post in the forum thread and will update as I may find other
bugs relating to this problem...

Thanks, Howard

[Bug 28966] Tabs are too big...

2006-01-19 Thread Richard Gobeille
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28966

Comment:
Yes, this is a definite regression. Also, tabs previously displayed the
dynamic window title string (if available) rather than just Terminal.
Another definite regression.

[Bug 29050] 6.04 (Dapper) doesn't recognize working printer

2006-01-19 Thread Mark W. Tomlinson
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29050

Affects: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
NOTE: I'm guessing as to the faulty package!

Bring up SystemAdministrationPrintingNew Printer, Local Printer is
already selected but Use a detected printer is greyed out with No
printers detected in the selection box. Use another printer by
specifying a port is selected but the drop-down box contains hp
no_device_found. I can manually configure the printer (LPT #1, HPLIP,
HP LaserJet 6p driver) but this setup was recognized by 5.10 (Breezy)
straightaway.

It's an HP LaserJet 6p connected to the only parallel port on my Intel
D865GLC motherboard. Dapper is fully upgraded as of c. 1 hour ago.
