[Bug 32879] rhythmbox regression: doesn't play next song in list

2006-02-26 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32879

Comment:
Can you reproduce this with a smaller amount of music - e.g. 10 ogg
vorbis tracks? Also could you give the exact steps to reproduce this
problem e.g.:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start rhythmbox
2. Press Ctrl-N to make a new Playlist.
3. Press the right mouse button over the new playlist and choose rename. Type
test and then return.
4. Click on Library in the Soure pane at the left.
5. Drag 5 ogg vorbis music tracks from the bottom right hand pane to the test
playlist.
6. Click on the test playlist.
7. Ensure that shuffle is on.
8. Click on the first track in the playlist and then click the Play button.
9. Let the track play to completion.

Expected result:
Second track to start playing

Actual result:
Second track does not start playing.

[Bug 32903] Admin Tool: Device Manager Not Working

2006-02-26 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32903

Comment:
Chip:
Your Device Manager gets stuff wrong sounds like a different bug to this. You
will probably want to find a bug that better fits what you are seeing or if no
such bug exists, open a new one.

Kim:
I know this sounds strange but could you wait for two minutes after starting
Device Manager? On my system it takes a while for it to fill all the data in
and in the meantime it sits there with nothing but a while and grey pane...

You can also try to run lshal from the command line to see whether that
generates an error (don't copy the output here though!)

[Bug 32922] Applications menu entries break HIG

2006-02-26 Thread Phil Bull
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32922

Comment:
The format of the menu entries should be [appname] [functional
description], e.g:

Writer Word Processor
Calc Spreadsheet
Impress Slideshows
Draw Desktop Publishing
Base Database Designer
Math Formula Editor

The sense of the applications being part of a 'suite' should remain due
to the similar icon designs. An example:

[Bug 32662] gaim crashes when started

2006-02-26 Thread Wouter den Haan
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32662

Comment:
I can report the same behaviour. When Gaim is started, it starts
connecting to the various network, and, when that is finished, crashes.
I managed to press Cancel All in time and after that had a chance to
turn-off autologin for all networks. For me, it appears to be a problem
with ICQ only. I _can_ start MSN and Jabber without any problems.

Here is a paste of a gdb debug with ICQ in autologin again:

So I'm actually quite sure it's a rhythmbox bug.

[Bug 31402] gnome-session properties hangs, when writing to files it doesn't have permisions to modify

2006-02-26 Thread joshual
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31402

Comment:
I think this is related so I am commenting on this bug rather than starting a
new one.
I cannot delete any of the startup items from the gnome-session-properties GUI.
Even if the items where added by me rather than being default items added
during install.

When i try to delete any item from gnome-session-properties the UI hangs.
Also when adding my own startup program I get errors about not being able to
write to the already exisiting .desktop files in /usr/share/autostart even
though I have not modified those items.

[Bug 32938] Usb keyboard dies when gdm starts

2006-02-26 Thread Martin Kristensen
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32938

Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When I boot Ubuntu Dapper Drake Flight 4 the keyboard dies. From the
time the drivers are loaded during boot, until I enter gdm the keyboard
works and I am able to swith Num Lock and Caps Lock on and off, when gem
starts I can no longer do this, and if num lock is on is switched off. I
am able to log in by unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in.
When I then log in I am, however, unable to switch between keyboard
layouts. (GB and DK).

I have looked in messages, Xorg.0.log and every other file in /var/log
without finding anything that resembles a relevant error message.

My machine is an AMD 3500+ running the AMD64 version of flight 4. The
keyboard is a logitech cordless.

[Bug 3300] gksudo does not follow GNOME password hiding style

2006-02-26 Thread manu
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/3300

Comment:
Perhaps it would be interesting to collect here a list of applications
which are still using asterisks rather than round filled circles
(blobs?). This may include also KDE applications. For example:

evolution bug 13943
gnome-ssh-askpass bug 14084

However, this is a change that must be done in each application, isn't
it? So, it would make sense to have separate bug reports for each
application in order to track their progress separately. Currently, bug
reports for evolution (bug 13943) and gnome-ssh-askpass (bug 14084) have
been marked as duplicates of this bug.

Finally, my opinion is that all applications should use the default
character, which should be defined by the current desktop theme. The
Ubuntu/Kubuntu theme could use a round filled circle while other 80s-
styled themes may prefer the asterisk.

[Bug 29261] smb:// to a security=share mode samba share prompts for password anyway

2006-02-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29261

Comment:
gnome-vfs tends to ask the password in any case because you can have
access to extra shares with a password and less with an anonymous mode.
So the first reaction is to ask for a password then to fallback to
anynomous. Does that makes sense to you?

[Bug 30814] multiple gnome-vfs FileOpen hang/crash

2006-02-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30814

Comment:
Thank you for your efforts on that. The backtrace is still not that
useful because the -dbg package has no debug version of /usr/lib/gnome-
vfs-2.0/modules/libftp.so. That should be fixed when the new splitted
gnome-vfs2 package is accepted. Could you try again after the next
libgnomevfs2-0-dbg update you get?

2006-02-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31771

Comment:
Did you get the backtrace while it is eating CPU? It looks like you took one at
startup...
Is that specific to gimp or does it happen with gedit too by example? Could you
install libglib2.0-0-dbg libgtk2.0-0-dbg to get a debug backtrace?

Same problem in both my pc and my laptop on Dapper (up to date version).
The problem is at least two months old. The icons don't move in every

behavior of those icons. Currently I am just trying to move them around
until I find a stable position.

[Bug 32299] GNOME ADD TO PANEL AND ACCESSIBILITY FONT

2006-02-26 Thread Manu Cornet
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32299

Task: ubuntu gnome-panel
   Severity: Normal = Wishlist

Comment:
The first part of this bug is a duplicate of bug 23436.

Changing to wishlist for the second part. Anyway, I don't think this would be a
good idea. You can already add several applets in a very simple way by just
drag-and-dropping them onto the panel. This also lets you choose where you want
to place each applet, and checkboxes couldn't let you do that.

[Bug 32951] [Dapper] Windows networking broken in Nautilus

2006-02-26 Thread Erich Pawlik
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32951

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When clicking on Windows Network in the Network File Browser, I
receive the message:

smb:/// is not a valid location

Hardware:
Dell Inspiron 4150

Versions:

samba: 3.021b-1ubuntu2
samba-common: 3.021b-1ubuntu2
nautilus: 2.13.91-0ubuntu1
libgnomevfs2-0: 2.13.91-0ubuntu2

Some additional information:

1) There was some traffic on the debian list related to a similar
problem

http://lists.debian.org/debian-gtk-gnome/2004/11/msg00088.html

but this communication is pretty old and it has worked until recently.

2) WebDav-Shares are working, so it seems to be something related to the
SMB-protocol.

3) The problem is independent on the computer hosting the smb share. It
occurs both for shares on Windows XP and on Samba

4) Printing via smb works.

5) It is possible to access smb shares on my machine from a Windows XP
box and an Ubuntu box.

6) After the most recent upgrade (10 minutes ago), the Ubuntu box
mentioned above has the same problem. Since a new version of libgnomevfs
has been installed, I guess the problem is somehow related to this
package.

Regards

Erich
