[Bug 29692] trying to link with libhal fails with -Wshadow

2006-03-09 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29692

Task: ubuntu hal
 Status: Confirmed = Needs Info

Comment:
I checked this, and this only affects

struct LibHalPropertySetIterator_s {
LibHalPropertySet *set;/** Property set we are iterating over */
unsigned int index;/** Index into current element */
LibHalProperty *cur_prop; /** Current property being visited */
void *reservered0; /** Reserved for future use */
void *reservered1; /** Reserved for future use */
};

However, I don't want to change the API of hal just because of this. Is that
still an issue? Ubuntu's network-manager compiles fine, and it's just a warning
anyway.

restarting.

It is impossible to take back the control of the system - no key
responds, even CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE - and the only way to get out of this
is to hard reboot, which could be painful for the file system.

I can tell the same problem appear before when I was on a different OS :
Suse Linux 10.

So the problem doesn't concern only Ubuntu.

And it happens either on Gnome or KDE.

Of course, in such a situation I don't get any error message - or I
don't know how to get it.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Jean-Christophe Baptiste

[Bug 34016] Make default for this computer only option

2006-03-09 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34016

Comment:
If you click on the help button in that window, you get this
explaination:

Select this option to make the screen resolution settings the default
settings for the system that you are logged in to only.

Isn't the expected behavior of gnome-display-properties to set the
screen resolution and refresh rate for the current logged in user. Why
need an extra option that apparently doesn't do anything. Would we loose
any possibilities by removing this option?

trivial than patching notification-daemon to fix it, I tried this :),
and I can make it if needed.

[Bug 34274] Ejecting a CD/DVD gives Writing data to storage device msg

2006-03-09 Thread Gabriel Burt
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34274

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When I right click on a CD/DVD in nautilus and Eject it, it pops up a
dialog that has a progess bar and says Writing data to storage device
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive. This happens on blank CD-Rs, DVDs, etc, where
there obviously is no data to be written. Besides being very misleading
and wrong, there are two other problems with it: the D in Drive is
capitalized, and it says Please do not remove the device while this
operation is in progress -- which obviously I can't since it hasn't
ejected yet!

[Bug 34276] If GLSlideshow is inherently broken, then remove it.

2006-03-09 Thread Ben Aultowski
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34276

Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
There is currently no way to configure the GLSlideshow screensaver to
display ~any~ pictures with gnome-screensaver. I'm not a fan of the
anything that requires configuration is inherently broken mantra. But
if you can't manually move/link your pictures to a directory GLSlideshow
will recognize, then isn't it broken, too?

It took me half an hour to realize that we have to use the Pictures
gallery screensaver instead of GLSlideshow to get any image to display
in a screensaver.
