[Bug 34562] goom visualization is not selected on default install - so no visualiation

2006-03-12 Thread Trent Lloyd
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34562

Affects: totem totem-gstreamer (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Just installed flight 5, and by default goom is not used when playing an
audio file, makes for playing that new example OGG a bit boring!

In addition its quite ugly as the window never gets redrawn and menus
hang around underneath, etc!

If you select goom and restart totem its fine, so I figure its just a
broken gconf schema.

[Bug 34563] no icon for .odg (Openoffice.org Draw)

Just installed flight-5, the .odg files have no icon.

This can easily be seen in the new example contents, the laterale.odg

[Bug 34562] goom visualization is not selected on default install - so no visualiation

2006-03-12 Thread Daniel Robitaille
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34562

Comment:
I can confirm these problems. Personally I always switch off the
visualization, so it's actually a good thing that it's not there by
default.

And I also get the menus that never get redrawn problem. The totem
window gets very ugly and crowded rapidly after pointing at a few menu
items with the mouse cursor because of this bug.

[Bug 34564] No way to enqueue multiple files selected in nautilus

2006-03-12 Thread Luna-Tick
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34564

Affects: totem (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I really like the playlist feature in totem but I find it difficult to
use. If I want to play multiple files that I have in a directory, I have
to double-click one of them, select all but that one and drag them into
the list. If I double-click the lot, I get a warning about opening up 20
instances.

I would like to see an 'enqueue' option in the right-click menu when a
bunch of media files are selected.

[Bug 34577] Lists incorrect options when multiple CDs (matching DiscID) are found

2006-03-12 Thread Luna-Tick
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34577

Affects: sound-juicer (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I have inserted a CD into the machine. In the Musicbrainz Tagger, a
search on the DiscID gives two options (see attached screenshot) a David
Bowie Best Of (disc 1) and a (disc 2). My CD is the (disc 1).

If I use Sound-Juicer to read the CD, I am again given a choice - but
between two (disc 2)s. Choosing either of these results in the same
track list (also attached) - note that it is the (disc 2) track list.

I ran sound-juicer with the --debug option and nothing was echoed.

I remember having strange issues in the past when an option was
presented to me, but did not collect enough data on that occasion.

[Bug 34578] Totem drop down menus dont close

2006-03-12 Thread Phil Worrall
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34578

Affects: totem (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
System: Ubuntu Dapper Flight5
Kernel: 2.6.15-18-386
Hardware: HP Laptop model ze2355ea
Ati Mobility Radeon X200 (default open source driver)

When I click on the the various menus within totem a menu pops up but
doesnt then close as expected when the mouse is moved away.

This happens whenever I try to play any multimedia file such as those
which are included in the ~/Examples/Audio file.

I have taken a screenshot to show what totem looks like when you try to
browse the menus and created a tiny url for it.

http://tinyurl.com/qnere

I think it may have something to do with my graphics card.

[Bug 34579] Installation steps fail

2006-03-12 Thread Peter
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34579

Affects: pango1.0 libpango1.0-common (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I have downloaded Dapper Drake Flight 5 and installed it on my desktop
PC. During installation the process stopped twice with the following
messages:

1. Configuring libpango1.0-common
  Installation step failed
2. Configuring gnome-applets
  Installation step failed

On both occasions I continued the installation from the next step.

Some other very early observations:
1. Why isn't the terminal icon part of the menu structure?
2. Why isn't the 'Applications Menu Editor' easily available?

I understand this is a beta and I am truly greatful for all the work you
people do, so take these comments as help and constructive criticism.

Regards,
Peter

Some notes:
- gnome-panel is respawned by gnome-session, use gnome-session-remove to stop it
- you say that gconf is restarted too many time and then that it is running
already, is it crashing or something?

[Bug 32938] Usb keyboard dies when gdm starts

2006-03-12 Thread Martin Kristensen
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32938

Comment:
I have had to reinstall 5.10 since unplugging the keyboard at every
boot, was getting on my nerves. However the problem persists when using
the Dapper Flight 5 live cd. I have also discovered that the problem is
not gdm specifik, but consistent across xorg.

Daniel: I have not been able to test your suggestion, however I am not
convinced the two issues are related. My problem is not that certain key
don't work. It is that not input is registered, it seems as if starting
X somehow terminates my keyboard driver, which is then reloaded when I
unplug and plug in the keyboard. If you can come up with any test I can
carry out using the live CD, please let me know.

2006-03-12 Thread Gustaf
Public bug report changed:

Comment:
Since going from breezy to dapper.
The filesystem is ext3. gconf (i think) The settings daemon has restarted
too many times. I didn't make that up, I get a dialog telling me that (and it
seems so, since it is applying my theme, then removing it, then applying it
etc). But gconfd is still there if I use ps. So. I don't know if it has crashed
really.
Themes don't work and the panel is frozen (yet for instance netload applet is
showing and running, but thep panel doesn't take mouse input).
Note; this applies even on a newly created temporary user, so it's probably not
any weird settings I have personally.

[Bug 34579] Installation steps fail

2006-03-12 Thread Peter
Public bug report changed:

Comment:
Thanks for your quick reply. I have since found the Terminal icon and
Nautilus file manager.

The menu editor is a nice touch but I never thought to look there.

I am intending to ditch Windows XP from my desktop PC when Dapper is
launched as a 'final' it is really starting to look very good.

Peter

[Bug 34579] Installation steps fail

2006-03-12 Thread Peter
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34579

Comment:
Thanks for getting back so quick. I have no debug information, the two
problems occured during my initial install of Flight 5. After each
occured I was presented with a menu giving me the chance to try the
particular step again or carry on installing from the next step. On
both occasions I chose the next step. I don't know how to capture debug
output!

Dapper seems to be working Ok so I don't know if they were serious
issues.

Sorry about including two issues, I originally tried to use Install
problem as a header but was not allowed; I had the message typed out
and was too lazy to copy it into a second message.

Peter

Thanks for your bug. Do you have any debug output on what happened during the
installation of those 2 packages? Without details the bug is not really useful.
Nobody else complained about that, could be an hardware issue of your machine
or your CD beeing corrupted. What configuration do you use?

Please also use one bug by issue, it's not really easy to manage
different topics with one bug because they are different comments,
settings, are closed at different times, etc

1. it is in applications, accessories category
2. you can right click on the panel menus titles and pick edit menu

[Bug 34589] Disk mounter applet in the gnome-panel shows wrong tooltip (disk) labels.

2006-03-12 Thread moma
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34589

Affects: gnome-panel gnome-panel-data (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
This is a new installation of Ubuntu 6.04 current from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/
( dapper-install-i386.iso )

I have added a disk mounter applet (icon) on the gnome-toolbar. This
PC has 1 floppy drive, 2 CD/DVD drives and 7 normal disk partitions.

When i hover mouse cursor over the disk-mounter icons, it says Floppy 1 (not
mounted), Floppy 2 (not mounted), Floppy 3 (not mounted) ... Floppy 7
(not mounted) etc.
Everything is a kinda floppy.

It should say /dev/sda3 (not mounted) or /dev/dvd (mounted) etc.

Beside the labels the disk-mounter performs OK.

Description:
Keyboard shortcut dialog, gnome-control-center 2.13.93-0ubuntu2.

Some commands does not run with some shortcuts while other commands with
same shortcuts run properly.

To reproduce try to set Win+C (or any other combination with Win key) to
calculator. I see in list Mod4c but when I try to use it nothing
happens. When I set shortcut to ControlAltc calculator will start.
I also tried to set Mod4c combination for terminal and it works
(terminal started).

It seems that some combinations action-shortcut cannot use Win key. Other not
working assigments:
Mod4f - find
Mod4w - web browser
Mod4e - e-mail
Mod4h - home
Mod4l - lock screen
Mod4j - eject

I have assigned Super to Win key.

[Bug 34603] Clock can't display international date format

2006-03-12 Thread Tero Karvinen
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34603

Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Clock applet does not show international ISO-6801 date format, even
though EN_DK locale English (Danish) is enabled.

Instead, the clock still shows the US date Sun Mar 12, 16:49. It
should show 2006-03-12 16:49.

Most users like to use English user interface, but not US units and
dates. Instead, most of the world uses the metric system (SI-system) and
will probably be adopting ISO-8601 dates (like 2006-03-12 16:39).

Suggestion:
- make Clock (gnome-panel) respect EN_DK locale
and
- add ISO-8601 format to Clock:Preferences (it already has 24h option for time)

I am using Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy with gnome-panel 2.12.1-0ubuntu. In gdm login, I

[Bug 33523] g-screensaver starts after idle period, regardless of user input

2006-03-12 Thread John Leach
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33523

Comment:
same problem here with version 2.13.92-0ubuntu1

This started happening around a week ago. This is on an IBM X40 laptop
that I regularly suspend-to-ram. In case it matters, this bug has never
ocurred on my Dapper desktop machine (which I never suspend).

my relevant gconf keys are:
 idle_delay = 5
 dpms_standby = 60
 logout_delay = 120
 dpms_suspend = 60
 dpms_off = 120

btw, that's the politest bug report I've ever seen.

[Bug 32922] Applications menu entries break HIG

2006-03-12 Thread AlanTam
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32922

Comment:
This bug should not be duplicate of bug 23575. Instead, bug 23575 should
be marked as fixed.

I think Spreadsheet is a functional term. The function of a spreadsheet
application is to make a spreadsheet, which is a term well known to
accounting, finance and manageral people.

I don't see the point of keeping Writer/Calc/Impress/Draw/Base/Math
there if we drop the OOo prefix. Why not just call them Word
Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Scalable Image Editor,
Database Designer and Formula Editor?

Martin any idea on that?

[Bug 34615] Keys on multimedia keyboard do not control volume of rear speakers.

2006-03-12 Thread Konrad Zieliński
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34615

Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Volume keys on my multimedia keyboard seem to control only Master track
in ALSA, so for example, when I press mute key, only front speakers are
silenced, while rear speakers play at the same volume. Contrary to its
name, Master track controls volume of only front speakers; PCM controls
volume of all speakers. Volume Control applet also controls Master by
default, but its possible to change it in its preferences.

In my opinion multimedia keys should control ALSA track set in
preferences of Volume Control applet and it should be PCM by default.

Also in ALSA: Master should be renamed to Front, Surround to
Rear and PCM to Master - it appears that current names are
confusing not only for users, but also for developers. Unfortunately it
requirers acceptance and cooperation with upstream ALSA developers. This
is also bug #13151.

Hardware:
- Logitech multimedia keyboard (its name varies from region to region - it is
the one that comes with MX700 mouse; I am using Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro
model in keyboard layout controls);
- nVidia nForce2 SoundStorm (on Abit NF7-S);
- Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 analog speakers.
