[Bug 38090] Re: Icons which are too orange and that look nothing like what they are supposed to portray
reopening, with new description ** Description changed: - Two icons particularly grate: + I'm going to edit the description to make this bug more focused, and + reopen it. Sorry for the confusion. - * The icon used for the Keyboard preference in GNOME looks nothing like a keyboard. - * The icon used for the trashcan looks like a battery monitor - incredibly confusing. - - Also, the icons in general are much too orange: I like orange in the new - theme but these icons have to appear alongside non-orange icons (e.g. in - the Places) menu, and the contrast looks really bad. + We all know that these icons are too orange. However, there is a + specific problem I'd like to draw attention to: in the Places menu and + on the Desktop, the orange icons appear alongside a number of + white/silver/blue icons, and this causes a striking contrast which can + only be described as a bug. I'll attach a screenshot, note the conflict + between these colours. ** Changed in: ubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected = Unconfirmed ** Summary changed: - Icons which are too orange and that look nothing like what they are supposed to portray + Colour clash in icons on the Places menu and the desktop ** Attachment added: icons.png http://librarian.launchpad.net/1932964/icons.png -- Colour clash in icons on the Places menu and the desktop https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/38090 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 38195] mime type for PDF files?
Public bug reported: Affects: shared-mime-info (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: (not sure if this is correct package - please move as necessary) When trying to open a PDF file in GNOME, I get this message: -- Cannot open PS9.pdf The filename PS9.pdf indicates that this file is of type PDF document. The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type plain text document. If you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system. Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct extension for plain text document, then open the file normally. Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the file. - The properties dialofg shows file type as plain text. However, the file is indeed a PDF file; it starts with %PDF-1.2 and opens just fine in acroread and evince. Moreover, I had no problems opening the same file on Ubuntu Breezy machine, where it was indentified as PDF document ** Attachment added: sample http://librarian.launchpad.net/1934388/PS9.pdf -- mime type for PDF files? https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/38195 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
