[Bug 39640] [2.0beta3] gaim: status pulldown menu is half empty (drawn offscreen)
Public bug reported: Affects: gaim (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: gaim 2.0beta3: When changing status with the pulldown-menu gaim tries to position the dropdown menu in such a way that the current status comes under the mouse-pointer. If the window-bottom is low, half of the status menu will be drawn off-screen, and you first need to scroll. Upstream bug: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=235atid=100235func=detailaid=1414923 has been closed, because they give a workaround: take http://gaim.sourceforge.net/gtkrc-2.0 as your ~/.gtkrc-2.0 . This makes the pulldown menu become a list (? i'm not into gtk) and that's always drawn upwards. Can't gaim-upstream implement it in such a way that the list is always used for this functionality? The bottom of the gaim-window-list will very often be too low to display the dropdown menu, so the dropdown-menu seems inappropriate in it's current gtk-implementation. If it can only be solved in .gtkrc: should ubuntu ship the proposed .gtkrc-2.0 ? Don't know how that influences other apps. (I'm not willing to make a bugzilla account for each and every gnome app, and Ubuntu decides what .gtkrc-2.0 it ships, so I report in launchpad) -- [2.0beta3] gaim: status pulldown menu is half empty (drawn offscreen) https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39640 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 37019] Re: When multiple language Gutenprint drivers are installed, they can not be differentiated by indices
Hello Matthias, this will only happen, when CUPS is compiled from source and multiple language drivers ( 1 per language selected per printer included ) are generated. They all show up as standard through the gnome-cups-manager, while CUPS via localhost:631 shows them with language indices. Apart from that, Dapper offers me only the EN version, although I have set the language to DE right from the start. [Bug 35689] Re: HP Deskjet 840C on Parallel Port Not Autodetected.
Note that the bug is that the printer is not autodetected, you can get it to work by selecting things manually. (This is mentioned in the original report :-)) What I did: 1. Check that the hplip-ppds package is installed at the above version. (It is!) 2. System-Administration-Printing and delete the printer, then add a new printer. 3. This results in 100% CPU usuage (according to the gnome system monitor) for at about one minute. 4. The Add a Printer Window appears but again the printer is not autodetected. 5. Further to the above rants, having done my daily dist-upgrade 2006-04-14 appears to have done a lot to rectify the situation: 1. Initially the dialogue is ppoulated with [EMAIL PROTECTED] .. If I sleect Advanced and type in ipp://roo:631 ... etc, the dialogue will automagically change and create a local printer with the correct ppd details. Yeah. Paper size! 2. Log out/in. [Bug 27239] Re: gnome-cups-manager does not accept HPLIP printer setup
Used live CD 20060414, there is no 20060415. My LAN printer is HP DeskJet 5850 with static IP 192.168.1.63. It is not detected by Gnome Printing Manager (GPM) when checking Detect LAN Printers in the Global Settings. Installing manually in GPM is still not possible, as the option AppSocket/HPJetDirect is not available; in Breezy I was able to circumvent GPM by installing the printer in localhost:631 as AppSocket/HPJetDirect with URI socket://192.168.1.63:9100, then choosing either HP or HPLIP as manufacturer, and DeskJet 5850 among the hpijs drivers. In Dapper, only the HPJetDirect option is present, and it is not the same as the AppSocket/HPJetDirect option. I have tried as URI all sorts of combinations: the IP with and without socket:// prefix, and with and without :9100 postfix. I've also tried, with the CUPS (IPP) printer option the URI with ipp:// and http:// prefixes and :9100 postfixes. Impossible to say if one of these works, because the hpijs drivers are not present in Dapper either; I've used DeskJet series and New DeskJet series. Anyway, whatever I do, there is no new printer appearing. I've not tried to circumvent GPM (as I did in Breezy), because the way to do that in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf has been made much more difficult and opaque in Dapper... we have regression here, not progress. -- gnome-cups-manager does not accept HPLIP printer setup https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/27239 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

héhé, I'm sorry but déconnexion is not valid in french even if it's accepted by everyone... déconnection IS the good word :) see there for french people : http://atilf.atilf.fr/dendien/scripts/tlfiv5/search.exe?23;s=1286854695;cat=2;m=d%82connection ; 2006/4/13, verdy_p [EMAIL PROTECTED]: kritchek wrote: Does it mean Do you want to remove the device ? or Ubuntu is removing the device ? For the first one, the translation should be Retirer le pÃfÂ(c)riphÃfÂ(c)rique. For the second one, dÃfÂ(c)connection du pÃfÂ(c)riphÃfÂ(c)rique. Sorry, but (dé)connection is incorrect (a common mistake). The noun is (dé)connexion (with an x in standard French orthography), even though the verb is (dé)connecter. And périphérique (with ph) is the only correct French orthography. So the second one will be déconnexion du périphérique... [Bug 39692] Shutdown applet icons don't match up.
Public bug reported: Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I'm not sure where this should be, here, gnome-session or gnome-applet. The shutdown icon on the panel has some metal looking thing, the 'add to applet' dialogue has a switch and the icon in it's help dialogues image is a door and arrow. We should have uniformity between at least the panel icon and the add- applet dialogue. -- Shutdown applet icons don't match up. https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39692 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 39695] shutdown applet setup instructions are wrong.
Public bug reported: Affects: gnome2-user-docs (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: Inside the Gnome desktop user guide in the 'working with panels' - 'buttons' dialogue it tells you to add the applet by pressing Add to Panel → Actions → Log Out. However there isn't an actions category in that dialogue and no item called log out. It's under Utilities → Shut Down... instead. -- shutdown applet setup instructions are wrong. https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39695 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 39698] Printed Document Shows Block for Tabs
Public bug reported: Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: In a completed updated Dapper (gedit 2.14.2), printed documents show a 'block' (unknown character icon) before each tab. I've tried creating new files, and with/without the Indent plugin, but all tab characters get the 'block' added when printed. The print preview does not show the 'block'. I am using the English (United States of America) locale setting in GNOME. Because I needed to test out my scanner drivers anyway, here is a scan of the printed page. The first 4 lines were indented using the tab key on my keyboard, and the rest were with the Indent plugin: http://www.hoodidge.net/bugs/indents.png -- Printed Document Shows Block for Tabs https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39698 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
