[Bug 31517] Re: hal/dbus error

2006-08-14 Thread wilbur.harvey
I loaded Ubuntu 6.06LTS on my Medion MD95800
I am getting the same basic dbus/hal error.
It seems to have something to do with network manager or maybe a dhcpd
permission.

When I get a popup, I want to be able to print out the summary of the
meeting (whatever content was entered against it. I find it a pain to
have to open the clendar, find the item in question and print it. What
Im after is a shortcut to printing the related information.

[Bug 56311] Cannot read email sent via Outlook and PGP Desktop

2006-08-14 Thread Herman Munster
Public bug reported:

Sending a GPG encrypted email from Evolution 2.6.1 to an MS Outlook user
with PGP Desktop works correctly. They can read my mail perfectly.

If the Outlook user replies to my email, or sends a new email, I receive
a PGP encrypted message but Evolution doesn't recognise it correctly.

Instead the message body can be seen as an ASCII PGP message, and there
is an attachment which contains the encrypted message body. This
attachment can be saved and decrypted manually.

Message source of mail received from MS Outlook/PGP Desktop user
follows. Mail server names and usernames have been changed:

2006-08-14 Thread Ian Jackson
Matt Zimmerman writes ([Bug 56085] Re: [Bug 56085] Re: Error popup after
successful playback in Firefox):
OK, symlinking the totem plugin from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to
/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins gets the plugin loaded and visible in
about:plugins again (Ian, why is /usr/lib/mozilla no longer searched?).

I don't know; I can't see anything relevant in the changelog but it's
quite possibly an upstream or Debian change.

However, Firefox crashes when the plugin is activated on the example page I
 mentioned:

This might be related to the problem with evolution. I'll look into
that first.

The problem is that hal use minor/major to search match between device in

I patch hal so it use block.device instead of block.minor block.major for
fuse device.

[Bug 41248] Re: installing Ubuntu or updating packages hangs at config libgstreamer

2006-08-14 Thread Kristian Benoit
I have the same problem, but only after upgrading from Breezy to Dapper
a few months ago. The most anoying thing is when starting gnome, gnome-
setting-daemon keeps on restarting thus changing the the theme as fast
as it can. For now I just renamed liboil-0.3.so.0*. No more problem
exept that every gstreamer apps does not work.

Here's the output of running totem on the command line:
OIL: ERROR liboiltest.c 359: oil_test_check_impl(): illegal instruction in
mt19937_i386_mmx_3
Illegal instruction

Output of gnome-setting-daemon:
OIL: ERROR liboiltest.c 359: oil_test_check_impl(): illegal instruction in
mt19937_i386_mmx_3
Illegal instruction

I tryed installing older version from debian, same problem. I tryed
recompiling the .deb, same problem. I traced in liboil, found the code
that does the illegal instruction, but did not want to start debuging
assembly, so I stopped there.

I'll find that function again and will post it, but for now I must get
to work.

Here's a post on a french forum where a bunch of other people have the same
problem:

[Bug 44807] Re: Printer options not visible for remote printers

I have the same problem. The server that shares the printers is Dapper
Drake and all the clients is also Dapper Drake. On the server I can
change all the settings avaiable for each printer. I can also change
these settings on each clent from the web interface on the client but
not from gnome-cups-manager or any other gnome program on the client.

The clients don't even use the settings i have set on the server. The
use Letter butt the setting is A4 for an example. The printing works,
but I can't change trays on the printers or chose double-sided printing
in the programs i'm printing from.

[Bug 56343] png and jpg thumbnails are different size and border

2006-08-14 Thread Killercow
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

The thumbnails generated by the specific png and jpeg thumbnailers for
nautilus create different looking thumbnails.

The jpg thumbnailer adds a bit of a bordr around the image, and also
creates what looks like a drop-shadow.

The png thumbnailer does not do this, it just makes a smaller version of the

[Bug 56352] Unlock dialog no longer pays attention to keypresses before it appears

Prior to the recent updates, I could sit down at any of my locked dapper

[Bug 24937] Re: please improve the bootsplash artwork

2006-08-14 Thread Quim Calpe
Rejected? whishlist?
C'mon guys this is very important indeed, not a wishlist, Ubuntu is lagging far
behind Suse and Fedora in this subject, it's something new users see the very
first time they use Ubuntu, and in every single boot. Right now it's ugly,
amateurish...

If it's an old hardware support of fb related problem, then how Suse
resolves that? There are really so much old hardware with this problem?
Isn't there any solution? Maybe automatic fall-back to non-fb? auto
detection during Ubuntu installation, so normal systems could have a
nice 1024x768 usplash and old systems go with the legacy one?

Just my 2 cents, but I think this is a very important subject

Note that this bug appears to be at loggerheads with Bug #55277. The
desired behavior in this bug is the bug in the other one. Not sure what
is the expected behavior though.

[Bug 23431] Re: can't filter email from exchange account

2006-08-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
comment from the upstream bug:

this can happen if you have just installed Evolution on a new machine and have
copied the file ~/.evolution/mail/filters.xml.
Since the filters refer to accounts directly, and accounts all have a unique ID
number, you get the above error if it cannot find the account anymore, so you
either have not copied the account settings or they have been changed in the
meantime.
Evolution stores its account settings under ~/.gconf/apps/evolution.

i'd recommend to open ~/.evolution/mail/filters.xml with a texteditor and
change/reset the offending filter rule.

setting to NEEDINFO, please reopen when answering.
