[Bug 57959] Live-Cd: Resizing of NTFS-partition fails when not dismounted cleanly before - error-message missing

2006-08-28 Thread Bernhard Kogler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

Error:

If the gparted-version on the live-cd is used to resize an ntfs-
partition which was not unmounted cleanly before (e.g. power-loss from
within a windows-session), the partition doesn't get resized.

Unfortunately no error-message is shown, when gparted calls ntfsresize
several times, and so the user thinks, all of the resizing-process
worked fine.

things to reproduce:

* partition /dev/hda1 - ntfs-partition, windows system volume
* start windows on /dev/hda1, let it crash (e.g. power loss)
* boot with the live-cd of dapper and resize the partition /dev/hda1 from
within gparted
* all seems to work fine, but nothing happens to the partition, because
ntfsresize reports an error due to the missing clean unmount which gparted
doesn't recognize.

Perhaps a newer version of gparted helps out, the version 0.1 included
on the live-cd is already 1,5 years old.

Are you sure it's not the status icon blinking you're seeing? GTK+ had a memory
leak that would make all the icons leak when blinking it, it has been fixed in
GTK+ CVS but not released yet iirc.

3. Save bug.tex
3. run latex bug.tex
4. open bug.dvi
5. Then, modify bug.tex with
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
I am hidden
\newpage
in the 2nd page !
\end{document}
6. Save bug.tex
7. run latex bug.tex
8. Go to the previous evince frame and move the scrolling-bar. The display
seems to be updated (You can see I am hidden instead of I am). But the
second page is not present.
9. Now, press (Ctrl+ R). The 2nd page appears.
10. Modify bug.tex with :
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
I am still here.
\end{document}
11. Save bug.tex
12. run latex bug.tex
13. Go to the previous evince frame and move the scrolling-bar. The first
page appears two times.

appointment. Give the appointment a short description
3. Click on to save the appointment

Expected Results:
Appointment is added to calendar view without crashing

How often does this happen?
Hardly ever

Additional Information:
No other programs or circumstances lead to any reasoning behind this
crash. Evolution was already open in the inbox beforehand.
After clicking appiointments and tasks again, I can see that the appointment
was in fact saved.

[Bug 57962] Re: Icons visualization problem in add-to-panel dialog

2006-08-28 Thread Manu Cornet
I can confirm this (up-to-date edgy) -- the missing pixel line is on the
left (not on the right) here.

Not sure where this comes from. The icons themselves look fine, for
example /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/deskbar-applet.png

A clue: maybe the default icon size for the dialog is not a standard one
(it seems to take the 48 versions of icons, but they're definitely not
displayed that big), and the resizing is not optimal?

[Bug 57956] Software package installed, but menu not updated until next X session

2006-08-28 Thread Declan Kennedy
Public bug reported:

When installing software through the Add/Remove menu, the applications
menu doesn't get refreshed after the item is added to it, so it doesn't
show up. Running Alacarte reveals that it has been added to the menu
correctly, but the main menu doesn't reflect this until the next X
session.

The software package in question was Monodevelop, which appears under
Programming in the main applications menu.

2006-08-28 Thread kamome
I now tried with vesa and everything was fine, then changed back to via (mII

I think, there was a kernel update since I first filed this bug...

The only change to the system is that this time I had to use my keyboard
as my mouse broke - but sure shouldn't make a difference.

[Bug 57978] [Dapper] metacity does not all Citrix ICAclient (and others) go fullscreen

2006-08-28 Thread Stefan Kluth
Public bug reported:

On Dapper I try to use Citrix ICAclient for Windows remote desktop. I
use version 9.15 (german) from this link.

http://citrix.com/English/SS/downloads/details.asp?dID=2755downloadID=3323pID=186

When the application connects it wants to display the Windows desktop
fullscreen, but the gnome-panels stay on top. Other reports of the same
problem involve acroread and blender.

Workarounds:

i) activate auto-hide on the panels

this is ok, but the remote desktop appears twice

ii) activate fullscreen mode for this app by hand via a
hot-key combination

iii) replace metacity by sawfish

This works fine, I get one instance of the remote
desktop in fullscreen.

I got the hint from

http://gnomesupport.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11223

and this gnome bug report:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343115

The gnome bug report is for metacity 2.14.3 while dapper has 2.14.5.
The bug report has a patch which solves the problem. Perhaps it is
already fixed in edgy so we could backport?

I'm also experiencing this issue. Changing the mounts to cifs has
alleviated the symptom of a hanging hald on startup.

Thanks for your report. For the second part of it: bug 54278 already

other one specifically for the mail component. Why alacarte shows two

Looks like some other app is crashing weirdly with a bad connection to

This problem seems like it's distro-specific, I suspect a config problem, as no

[Bug 57996] Mixer applet shows different icon in bottom panel than in top panel

2006-08-28 Thread Tim Fuchs
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure whether this is a bug in gnome-panel or gnome-applets.

Anyway, when I add a mixer applet to the top panel it displays using the
2Dish 24x24 icon, the same as in totem etc.

When I drag this very same applet to my bottom panel it suddendly
displays a 3Dish icon, maybe it's the SVG version.

Both panels have the size 25.

Hi Daniel:

Yes we've heard that Edgy has problems with a11y but we don't know what's wrong
yet. The application crash I refer to doesn't appear to be an assistive
technology but it might be, hard to know. But in any case I doubt that the

[Bug 57819] Re: can't access my nokia 770's ssh server with nautilus

2006-08-28 Thread kmon
how do I debug gnome's nautilus syscalls? If I launch strace nautilus I
only get the starting output, once nautilus is loaded there's no more
output.

I think the problems has to do with how nautilus is sending the password
since it keeps asking for it until I get tired (so I assume it receiving
a wrong password response from the server), but it's strange since I can
ssh with the cli ssh client, so I'm a bit lost here...

[Bug 56452] Re: Edgy: at-spi Crashes frequently

2006-08-28 Thread Joanie
Since the behavior has been seemingly unpredictable, I took some time
today trying to reliably reproduce it. Here's what I have come up with.
Not sure if it helps

1. Boot
2. Launch Orca from the Applications menu
3. Quit Orca with Insert Q

At this point Python crashes (attempted to get a backtrace -- attached).
90% of the time, At-spi-registryd does not immediately crash (no dialog;
nothing appearing in /var/crash). The other 10% of the time it does.

4. Reboot

at-spi-registryd crashes (log appears in /var/crash).

I can reliably reproduce this on two machines.

vfs-2.0/modules/libcdda.so: undefined symbol: gnome_vfs_uri_get_basename

[Bug 57950] Re: opening music cds restarts nautilus

2006-08-28 Thread geopgeop
It was a symlinked libcdda.so, where can I get a working one? The
package libgnome-vfs-2.0 does not have one, the original libcdda.so came
from libgnome-vfs-common, and there's one from alsaplayer-common. I'll
make a new symlink to that and see if it works.

2006-08-28 Thread geopgeop
Okay, that didn't work, and there's only libgnome-vfs-common and
alsaplayer-common as the only packages with libcdda.so. See if there
can be one included with libgnome-vfs-2.0 itself.

[Bug 57968] Re: best fit isn't default

2006-08-28 Thread didier
Currently the default is whatever have been used last, more or less.

It's a (minor) nuisance when you have PDF with very different page
sizes.

If you open a 100x100mm flyer zoom it at 400% and then try to open a 2600x950mm
kakemono it doesn't work on a 32bits CPU. You can try to open evince with no
file but then you can't change the zoom factor! So open a recent file, change
the zoom, exit, and retry the big one For smaller sizes it works but it's
very slow, evince can use more than 1.5GBytes of RAM very quickly.

For me, whatever you want but not the last one used :) It's ok to keep it when
opening a recent file though, as it's done now. Best fit may be the fastest.

BTW adding the page size in properties would be great too.

If there's no objection I could to do it, shouldn't be hard.

[Bug 46179] Re: [Dapper] Incorrect default application association in Nautilus

2006-08-28 Thread Patrick Clément-Bonhomme
Thanks for fixing such a trivial bug, but those packages don't seem
available in dapper-updates yet.

Did I missed something?

Haven't heard from the reporter in several months, and no one else could
reproduce the bug, so I'm closing. Please reply or reopen if this is
still a problem.
