[Bug 60345] Add to Panel... assumes and hard-codes font sizes

2006-09-14 Thread Travis Reitter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-accessibility-themes

Ubuntu's Add to Panel... dialog hard-codes font sizes for launchers
whose text label requires two lines at size 10. (Interestingly, if the
Application font size is changed to a larger size while the dialog is
open, it will apply it to all launcher text labels).

For the text that does use the system font size correctly, the dialog
assumes it is the same size as the hard-coded font size, and will only
take up one line. See the attached screenshot.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open System Preferences Font Preferences.
2. Change Application font size to 16.
3. Close Dialog.
4. Right-click on panel and open Add to Panel... dialog box.

[Bug 59333] Re: [Bug 59333] Re: gaim window size unrestricted

2006-09-14 Thread Schalken
Okay, so basically:

* Despite being the only acceptable IM app for GNOME, Gaim isn't a GNOME
app, and therefore doesn't have to abide by GNOME's rules.

* GNOME's got it all wrong, people should be able to size a window to
any size they want. It's the same with Windows, Mac and KDE, so they
must have it all wrong as well.

* If a user can't find a window, or a feature in that window, because
they sized it too small it's their fault, not the developers.

Fair enough then.

[Bug 59882] Re: Access to remote SSH server does not distinguish the connection by port

2006-09-14 Thread hossi
Hi,

Yes, you are true. There are ways to work around this by changing the
network configuration. The problem with nautilus is that it seems not to
identify an SSH connection by an address/port tuple. Even if the host
identification has changed, it should not connect to a completely
different port.

Please note that the command line client still gives you a choice to log
in with a private key. Using one, I simply get the following
notification:

Password authentication is disabled to avoid man-in-the-middle attacks.
Keyboard-interactive authentication is disabled to avoid man-in-the-middle
attacks.
Enter passphrase for key 'XX':

So I think using a private key, I should simply receive a notification
from nautilus and then be able to connect.

[Bug 60378] Disk applet by default

2006-09-14 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I've noticed that some people coming from windows have trouble removing
USB devices and the like, because they don't quite know what to do to
safely remove the device.

They come from windows and they're used to look into the system tray to
unmount removable. There's no way for them to know that they have to
right-click the desktop icon, then navigate the options they're given
until they find the secret (as in doesn't show on any other desktop
icon) eject option.

The drive applet offers a handy solution for those people, and remains
unobstrusive because you don't even see it unless there's a device in,
but you can access it anytime without having to show the desktop. So I
think it would be a good thing to have it included on the panel by
default.

[Bug 60384] GTK file dialogs ignore desktop_is_home_dir setting

2006-09-14 Thread Chris Lord
Public bug reported:

I have the option /apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_is_home_dir set to
true - Previously (in dapper), setting this meant that the 'Desktop'
entry wouldn't appear in GTK file dialogs (as is correct, the directory
doesn't exist and if it did, isn't my desktop anyway). Currently, the
'Desktrop' entry will always appear. As it doesn't exist, there is no
icon next to its entry and selecting it results in an error dialog
(saying that the uri doesn't exist).

Would be nice if old behaviour was maintained so that this entry doesn't
appear when /apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_is_home_dir is set.

[Bug 60387] Change the front page of Yelp to accommodate Ubuntu Docs

2006-09-14 Thread Andreas Lloyd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Don Scorgie from the GNOME documentation team has provided us with this
nice patch to alter the look of the Yelp front page. Please apply.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test it properly due to some
missing dependencies, I couldn't figure out. Hope you know what to do to
test these.

The yelp package will also need the latest version of the ubuntu-docs
package from the Documentation Team SVN.

This is under Edgy with gnome-terminal 2.16.0-0ubuntu1, with no other
apt repositories. Also, I use zsh insetad of bash.

After some more investigating, I now see that this happens when using

this is a vim problem instead? It also happens without anything in my

[Bug 58659] Re: Ugly frames show in widgets with some gtk2 themes

From comments on IRC, it appears this is fixed in gtk2-engines:

The latest source-package of gtk2-engines is 2.8.0

the nice tang buttons.

I'll attach a screenshot so you can sse what I mean.

[Bug 60378] Re: Disk applet by default

2006-09-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug. A bug tracker is not the right place for such a
discussion though, usually few people track a package. Better to bring a
suggestion like that on the ubuntu-devel or ubuntu-desktop mailing-list.
That is being discussed upstream at the moment too:
