[Bug 50981] Re: Palm synchronization unreliable

2006-09-17 Thread Ryan Rawdon
I believe this information is related to this bug:

When I start gpilotd manually in a terminal, it runs fine and I never
have a problem syncing. When it is started by opening the app at System
-- Preferences -- PalmOS devices, it syncs fine until I close that
window. Once I close that window, gpilotd crashes on the next sync
attempt and must be killed with -9, then restarted.

When it is started by that GUI app, the process info is:
ryan 5530 0.2 2.1 68136 10924 ?Sl 02:38 0:00
/usr/bin/gpilotd --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51

If I start it manually with gpilotd --oaf-activate-
iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51, it still works fine... so
I guess all I can contribute is that gpilotd crashes when it is started
via the GUI and the GUI is closed when a sync attempt is made.

[Bug 60880] groupwise protocol does not work with 2.0beta3.1

2006-09-17 Thread Travis Glenn Hansen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

I'm trying to connect to a groupwise account with gaim-2.0beta3.1
included in edgy. It fails constantly. This is an issue from upstream
not ubuntu centric. However, I have received a patch from Mike Stoddard
at Novell which fixes the issue. He says it will included upstream
soon, however, I'd like to see the patch included with edgy even if
newer upstream snapshots are not. I can mail the patch to whomever
needs it.

[Bug 28537] Re: nautilus search always starts from home

2006-09-17 Thread -JojoMan-
Why not provide an option in options leave the default as is (searches
in HOME, unless more people want current dir) and then provide an option
to search the current working directory to be searched. that way
everyone is happy, this bugs me all the time when i open up mounted
partitions and try to do a search only to have to stop it select my
mounted partition and hit reload. i would love it if i went to my mp3
folder hit ctrl+f and typed in britney (joking) and pulled up all her
songs, sadly not the case.

Public bug reported:

Public bug reported:

Description of the crash:

When I start up the Disks application, it crashes after displaying the
main window (not fully updated yet though I think), after entering
password.

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. System - Administration - Disks
2. Enter password
3. Application crashes after window appears

Expected Results:
Application starts

How often does this happen?
Always

Additional Information:
I have two 250 GB Seagate hard drives, each has two partitions (1 for swap, 1

[Bug 60851] shares-admin crashes on launch

2006-09-17 Thread Robert Persson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

In dapper shares-admin crashes on launch. The error messages vary, but
usually a window appears with a spinning wheel and the contents greyed
out. On one occasion, while trying to launch shares-admin as non-root, a
password dialogue appeared, but after I entered the password it crashed
anyway.

This is what happened as I tried to launch shares-admin several times as
non-root, via sudo and as root:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ shares-admin
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ shares-admin
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x10381ad0 ***

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo shares-admin

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ shares-admin
Segmentation fault
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo shares-admin
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x102afe18 ***
Aborted
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

I then tried to launch a different build of the program on another machine with
a gentoo installation (compiled with gcc-4.11 or something) and I got yet
another set of errors, namely:

*** glibc detected *** shares-admin: double free or corruption
(fasttop): 0x0823e050 ***

and

*** glibc detected *** shares-admin: double free or corruption
(fasttop): 0x0823e540 ***

(this last error repeated twice).

[Bug 60902] TFT head-up brightness appears in centre of screen, rather than 3/5 down

2006-09-17 Thread Paul Sladen

currently being worked on:

[Bug 60558] Re: [Edgy] Default background text in search entry doesn't fit

2006-09-17 Thread Torsten Schoenfeld
It's Evolution 2.8.0-0ubuntu1.

As far as I know, I did not activate any option.

When the entry has focus, it's blank here too. If I choose an option
from the dropdown menu that can be reached via the icon in the left part
of the entry, the entry gets focused and thus there's no background
text. But if I focus something else, for example click on an email
message, the focus shifts away from the entry and the background text
appears.

Also, the background text mimics the choice made in the what-to-search
dropdown box. So if you choose Recipients contains and make sure the
entry doesn't have focus, the background text will be Recipients
contains. The problematic options is Subject or Sender contains
since it's a few pixels too wide.

[Bug 60950] enter won't open the link - beta2 edgy

2006-09-17 Thread J
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Hello! In newest version of Bon Echo, beta2 I have a very annoying
problem: when I type an address in the addressbar, and hit 'enter',
firefox doesn't do nothing, I have to click the (too wide) go button.

I'm shure this will be fixed in next version, and thank all of the members of
the ubuntu dev team for this great distro!

[Bug 60950] Re: enter won't open the link - beta2 edgy

2006-09-17 Thread Mateusz Drożdżyński
I can't reproduce your problem with my install of Edgy. Firefox works fine here.
Do you possibly use any extensions?
Have you tried starting your Firefox with a different profile? This can be
achieved by running:
firefox -ProfileManager
either from the command line or from 'Run Application' dialog.

[Bug 60957] New workspaces should be called Desk X instead of Workspace X

2006-09-17 Thread Mateusz Drożdżyński
Public bug reported:

On a fresh Edgy install, the default workspaces are called Desk 1 and Desk 2,
however when you add more of them, they're named in the old fashion - Workspace
3, Workspace 4, etc.
It should be changed to ensure the consistency of naming conventions.

Should we file similar bugs for tango-icon-theme and tangerine-icon-
theme then?

I don't use human anyway, so it wouldn't be of much use to me having
this fixed in human.

[Bug 60967] Method of changing password non-obvious

2006-09-17 Thread Grim
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

The means by which a user can change their account password under GNOME
are not obvious.

Presently there are two ways by which a user may reach a password-change
action from the GNOME menu. These are System - Preferences - About Me,
and System - Administration - Users and Groups. The latter requires
root privileges and so is not optimal (root privileges aren't needed for
this operation.) The first does not present itself as a 'change
password' operation, and is easily overlooked, as it was by myself. ;-)

Common sense suggests there should be a prominent 'Change Password'
option, perhaps on the top-level System menu above 'Quit,' or otherwise
elsewhere.

[Bug 60880] Re: groupwise protocol does not work with 2.0beta3.1

2006-09-17 Thread Travis Glenn Hansen
The link to the gaim bug is here:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1520965group_id=235atid=100235

It also references a novell bugzilla bug which can see also if you sign
up for an account. I will attach the patch from bug in novell's system.

It will be upstreamed soon, I wasn't sure if there was version freeze or
something for ubuntu though, so I'd like to see it included in ubuntu
even if a new version isn't out by the time edgy ships. :)

Thanks for looking into this.
