[Bug 25653] Re: gnome-pilot needs to be ported to new udev world order

2006-09-25 Thread Olivier Blanc
I gave a try to the new version :

It doesn't start automatically through the applet.

I tried to run gpilotd from the shell.
I looks like if it's working sometimes :
First fime, it worked properly

Second time :
gpilotd-Message: setting PILOTRATE=115200
(gnome-pilot:22093): gpilotd-WARNING **: pi_accept_to returned -202: Aucun
fichier ou répertoire de ce type (no file or directory of this type)
(gnome-pilot:22093): gpilotd-WARNING **: pi_accept_to: timeout was 10 secs

third time :
gpilotd-Message: setting PILOTRATE=115200
gpilotd-Message: Device Cradle has 0 events
gpilotd-Message: Instanciation de 5 conduites...
and it started...

fourth time : same messages as second time
gpilotd-Message: setting PILOTRATE=115200
(gnome-pilot:22093): gpilotd-WARNING **: pi_accept_to returned -202: Aucun
fichier ou répertoire de ce type
(gnome-pilot:22093): gpilotd-WARNING **: pi_accept_to: timeout was 10 secs

and fifth time : same error messages.

Let me know if I can go further in testing.

[Bug 55594] Re: Rotating Images couldn't be Completed for some format

2006-09-25 Thread Kenneth Chai
I can confirm this.

When trying to save a TIFF image, gThumb gives an error saying: Image
type not supported: image/tiff.

This problem also exists in Eye of Gnome and you get a more descriptive
error message saying: This build of gdk-pixbuf does not support saving
the image format: tiff.

No problem with saving TIFF images in GIMP though. Maybe GIMP uses a
different library?

Apparently there is a bug in gdk-pixbuf that forbids it to save certain
image types.

There is also a thread in Ubuntu Forums
(http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=58913) since August 2005.

[Bug 60705] bugs when multiple users are logged into same machine ....

2006-09-25 Thread nomoreheroes
Public bug reported:

When more than one user logs into a computer, and automated events ( started
due to a dbus/hal event ) occour, the program that starts automatically starts
in the wrong user's x session.

For example:

1. I burn a dvd using growisofs, it finishes and the dvd gets
automatically ejected and re-inserted. When totem starts up
automatically due to it being a video dvd it does so on a different
user's gnome desktop instead of mine.

2. I plug in a digital camera and a program is configured to
automatically start, but it does so in the wrong user's gnome desktop.
The media card is also assigned to that user so I cannot even manually
open and delete photos I want. It's not even possible to import the
photos because the other user has full permissions whereas I have none.

This is a BIG bug in a house where more than one person share the use of
the same computer but use different logins and don't want to keep
logging in and out to swap over.

The solution is for the computer to be aware of the user who currently
has the active x session locally and assume that is the user who has
initiated the event.

This is, potentially at least, a security vuln as user might not want
the other user to see what they might see as a result. Imagine a usb
stick being inserted with sensitive data and another active user being
logged in remotely what's on that usb disk, let's take a
look, and there goes the privicy and security of that data.

[Bug 62260] [Edgy] All Gnome-Power-Manager pop-ups appear in the bottom right corner

2006-09-25 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
Public bug reported:

I am using Edgy Knot 3 on a Dell Inspiron 510m with a 1400x1050 screen
(and using 915resolution to get the correct resolution).

All of the power-related pop-ups display in the bottom right corner
instead of up by the battery icon. I will attach a screen-capture of the
behaviour. Given that the power notifications are by far the most common
notifications on my machine, this is quite annoying! Thanks.

[Bug 61393] Re: Deskbar-Applet doesn't allow me to use google for websearch

2006-09-25 Thread Daniel Holbach
Thanks for your bug report. I'm closing the bug. deskbar-applet does the
following:
Recommends: python-beagle (= 0.2.6-1), python2.4-soappy, gnome-utils

which means: it works perfectly without the following packages, but for
extra functionality you need them. I agree that it's not easy enough to
figure it out, but that's another issue.

[Bug 62282] words hilight doesn't work

2006-09-25 Thread Carlos Perelló Marín
Public bug reported:

Since my upgrade to Edgy, xchat-gnome doesn't hilight my nickname any
more when someone pings me.

I also tried with a list of words to hilight with the same problem.

After checking this with Sebastien Bacher, I discovered that it works
with LC_ALL=C so seems to be a locale problem with es_ES.UTF-8.

This report is a misdescription of one consequence of the `just show the

issue no longer exists.

[Bug 62231] Re: [Bug 62231] Re: Problem report on login

2006-09-25 Thread RFennimore
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 56452 ***

I guess I will have to learn to use the Launchpad Bug Tracker better. It's
not very intuative though.
When the crash occurred, the automatic bug reporting tool popped up and
suggested a check for duplicate bugs.
When I clicked on it, it took me to 58701 'Calc - AT-SPI causes crash'.
So I clicked on 'at-spi' on the left, and then 'Bugs' below. Still, it only
shows 'Calc - AT-SPI causes crash'.

Sorry.

2006-09-25 Thread Michael Vogt
If you upgraded using the dist-upgrader mechanism, could you please
attach the files from /var/log/dist-upgrade/* to this bugreport?

I agree with seb that it is most likely a theme issue, try setting
System/Preferences/Theme to e.g. Human.
