[Bug 61263] [edgy] [gnumeric] Re: /etc/mailcap files is wrong
Confirmed. Line 86-87 of /etc/mailcap reads as application/x-sc gnumeric '%s'; edit=gnumeric '%s'; description=SC/XSpread spreadsheet; test=test -n $DISPLAY; nametemplate=%s.sc i.e., there is a newline after the x-sc that should not be there. [Bug 60051] Re: Evolution freezes on close.
Sorry, one more update on this bug. I've discovered the source of this bug. It's a specific set of emails in my inbox. Specifically, the emails I get from the NCIX mailing list. If you want to see the bug for yourself, I can forward you an email, or you can subscribe to the list yourself at www.ncix.com. What happens when you get an email from the list is that the preview pane for the email locks to that email when you view it. You can view other emails by double clicking, but the NCIX email is all that will show up in the preview pane. When you close the program, it doesn't close. I am thinking that separate threads are used for each pane, and the pane that is showing the NCIX email is freezing. Since the other panes are waiting for that thread to be closed when you attempt to close the program, it just locks up. The problem does NOT occur when viewing a different email, which leads me to believe that this is a bug in the XML parser. -- Evolution freezes on close. https://launchpad.net/bugs/60051 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 59815] Re: Duplicate language entries in menu when playing dvds
I tested it with gmplayer now. Mplayer gives a bit more information, e.g. german - dolbie 5.1, german - dolbie 5.1 stereo. However it named two different entries the same too. (Tracks that featured comments from two different people.) So mplayer is slightly better, but not perfect. :) And yes I consider this a bug. Why are the entries named the same when they mean different things. Why do I need to guess, when I want english language with director's comments etc. I'm curious: Do you think this is not a bug? Maybe totem could show only the sound entry that matches preferences-audio? For example, when I set audio to stereo, then show only language dolbie stereo and hide language dolbie 5.1. [Bug 63456] Re: Bug-buddy keeps reporting a crash and nautilus does not work
** Also affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: After today's updates my system has become unusable. When I start my session, bug buddy appears telling me that the CD/DVD Creator application crashed and that I should send a bug report telling what I was doing during the crash. To my knowledge, no application visibly crashed, but I fill in the report and send it. After sending the report, I get the following message: Bug Buddy has encountered an error while submitting your report to the Bugzilla server. Details of the error are included below. The component specified doesn't exist or has been renamed. Please upgrade to the latest version. After pressing the close button, bug-buddy comes back with a vengeance with exactly the same message. No matter what I click or do (Cancel, send, xkill it...), it always comes back. I wouldn't mind it coming back, but it seems that it does not let the desktop to finish loading. The background image does not get loaded and my previously transparent panel is opaque. Furthermore: * Nautilus does not work (I cannot open any browser windows). * The logout dialog does not work (after pressing logout or shut down, nothing happens, the logout dialog simply disappears). On a side issue, but maybe related to this, I also get a crash notification in the form of a little bomb icon at the notification area. When I click it to see what's crashed, it says that metacity crashed unexpectedly. + + I'm using + + nautilus 2.16.0-0ubuntu3 + nautilus-cd-burner 2.16.0-0ubuntu2 + bug-buddy 2.16.0-0ubuntu1 -- Bug-buddy keeps reporting a crash and nautilus does not work https://launchpad.net/bugs/63456 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 62723] Re: Totem doesn't auto-resize
Just found this bug via the search, I'm using Ubuntu 6.10 beta and I'm also experiencing it. As said, resizing doesn't work at all. For example, download this - http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/movie/index.do?id=385 - video. It's 720p, if I play it with Media Player Classic under Windows XP Media Player Classic auto-resizes to 1:1 and the vid nearly occupies the entire viewable area of my 20 widescreen monitor. In Ubuntu 6.10 beta this video is displayed by Totem in a very tiny window, and the option to resize it to 1:1 doesn't work. Maybe this is related with this bug: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/35055 ? -- Totem doesn't auto-resize https://launchpad.net/bugs/62723 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 62973] Re: Rhythmbox is confused by two CD drives
I can confirm this - exactly the same problem. Also, I´ve noticed that if I put the CD in the same drive as it was last played in and restart Rhythmbox it will work OK, but if it´s put into the first drive again it will yet again fail. To duplicate this bug: 1. Open Rhythmbox 2. Put audio CD in drive [hdc]. 3. Double-click CD´s entry in side pane. Failure icons shown at all tracks. 4. Eject CD and place in other drive [hdd] 5. Double-click CD´s entry in side pane. CD plays. 6. Close Rhythmbox, leaving CD in [hdd] 7. Open Rhythmbox, leaving CD in [hdd] 8. Attempt to play CD again. CD plays. 9. Remove CD and put back in drive [hdd] 10. Try to play CD. Success. 11. Remove CD from [hdd] and close Rhythmbox. 12. Open Rhythmbox and put CD in [hdc]. 13. Try to play. Fails as per step 3 14. Move CD to [hdd] again and try to play - CD plays. Try with a different CD swapping [hdc] and [hdd]. Now for some console output (no -d switch) when failing: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ rhythmbox (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Unable to start mDNS browsing: MDNS service is not running (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error (rhythmbox:7237): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: eos_cb: Unhandled error: Unknown playback error The eos_cb warnings appear in sync with each track Rhythmbox attempts but fails to play. [Bug 63523] Re: EDGY Menu management: hard to move items up and down
I tried it here. It's 'Menu Layout' in English. From what I observed, the selection doesn't disappear. The highlight is lost. But if you click on the move up /down button *a few seconds later* it does move the selected item. So it's like, It gets locked for a few seconds after the first move up/down (during when another click would do nothing). So, it is a bug. After the latest kernel updates this morning (linux- image-2.6.17-10-generic, 2.6.17-10-25): a) Bug-buddy does not longer show up during the gnome session startup b) The desktop is still not being properly loaded. As reported before, there is no background image being loaded, and no context menu when right-clicking on the desktop). c) When starting a nautilus browser from a launcher, bug buddy comes up, reporting a crash in the CD/DVD Creator application as before. After filling in the description of the crash, I press the send button and I get the following message (same as before): Bug Buddy has encountered an error while submitting your report to the Bugzilla server. Done this way, and I think this is a serious usability bug, to anybody not experienced with gconf-editor (which I launched just to check if there is a image directory option), it looks like nautilus does not *NEED* an image directory (I don't expect ANY program to create a 4gb file in my system before asking me first) when burning. If it needs, the user should be informed. I know, this would break the outstanding simplicity of the burning process a little, but why promising what we don't deliver? I repeat, when I first pressed the write cd button, I really didn't realize it was going to write a temporary image somewhere! And I am an experienced user, so when I saw error writing image I wondered eck, does it really WRITE an image somewhere? then launched gconf-editor and modified the setting - I don't expect my mother to understand what's going on at all in the same situation. -- Wrong behavior after 'not enough space on hard drive' error https://launchpad.net/bugs/59054 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 63523] Re: EDGY Menu management: hard to move items up and down
No, it's not the same for me, I've been waiting (after 2nd press) for more than 10s. I had to select again the item to make it move Pradeep a écrit : I tried it here. Can you please confirm this behaviour? -- EDGY Menu management: hard to move items up and down https://launchpad.net/bugs/63523 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 63547] The cd burning dialog can be closed, and does not ask for confirmation
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner As in subject, I hit ALT+F4 with focus on the wrong window, the cd burning dialog instead of the nautilus file manager window, in the middle of the burning process, and I lost a DVD (so a little amount of money). When doing something non-reversible such as stopping writing to a DVD, confirmation MUST be asked. === A comment about the current gnome situation === Ok, I was burning my FIRST non rewritable device with Nautilus. If someone is wondering why I say FIRST non rewritable, it is because every time I test gnome again, I discover so many small bugs and crashes that I never feel like trusting a gnome application for something serious. I know, as an experienced user, that a badly designed burning program can waste my money ruining burned cd, and also my time. After having installed Ubuntu 6.10 again, after a week of intense usage, it looked to me like gnome is becoming trust-able, and trusted it in writing a non-rewritable DVD. I was just plain wrong. Heck, was it MY fault, pressing alt+F4 on the wrong window? Of course, but why does k3b ask for confirmation? I bet also windows programs do that! Come on, if I write a file system, I am supposed to be really careful when saving file data, and if I write a cd burner, I am supposed to be really careful in not throwing away a dvd without asking for confirmation first. The problem is, that this gnome is broken feeling cannot go away from my head. I will keep on using it (not nautilus-cd-burner, of course, for now) because I really like it. Will try to report all bugs I find, and, really, thanks to the ubuntu team for having fixed them all, I am really impressed. I didn't pay for that, and you worked for me so hard, that I feel obliged to try to do my best to help ubuntu. This comment is really non-constructive, sorry, but I think it's better to leave it here. I use to recommend linux to friends and even my mother, but I cannot recommend ubuntu+gnome yet, even if it is so faster than the others, and so much more usable at first sight. I would really like to be able to recommend it. Will keep on reporting bugs I find :) ** Affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- The cd burning dialog can be closed, and does not ask for confirmation https://launchpad.net/bugs/63547 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 63208] Re: Patches For Compiz/Beryl Compatibility
My personal opinion in this matter (as I told you on IRC too): it's better to get these changes upstream first. The rationale is very simple: you add API, enums and structs, you change API severely, which is generally just fine. But what if upstream decides to implement this differently? We can't just drop the patches then, because we would have to change the soname - if SuSE has the patches or not, I think this operation is a bit too risky to do over upstream's agreement. -- Patches For Compiz/Beryl Compatibility https://launchpad.net/bugs/63208 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 63554] [edgy] cannot click on URLs in the channel topic bar
Public bug reported: This is a regression from Dapper: I can no longer open highlighted URLs by clicking on them in the channel topic bar. There right-click popup menu doesn't give me an option to open/copy the link. This is not 100% reproducible: after some time I noticed that right- click gave me a popup menu with open link and copy link options. Left- click still did nothing, and the mouse cursor didn't change to a hand. I closed xchat-gnome, restarted it, and the right-click menu changed back into the one that doesn't have open/copy link. ** Affects: xchat-gnome (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- [edgy] cannot click on URLs in the channel topic bar https://launchpad.net/bugs/63554 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
