[Bug 64797] printing uses gimp's default print parameters

2006-10-09 Thread Dirk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evo: 2.8.1, edgy, patched up to 8Oct06

Evolution does not use the correct paper size when printing. In my case
(A4 paper) it effectively uses the top left hand quarter of the page
(effectively A6).

Actually, looking at this a bit more closely, it appears to be using the
default papersize that my gimp installation is using (4x6 Borderless).

This has been going on here since I upgraded to 2.8.x. In a previous
(can't remember which one), the print size was huge (as in a confirmed
bug), but now the print size is about 8pt (even though I have not
changed things).

[Bug 56478] gnome-panel dies when screenreader is enabled and...

2006-10-09 Thread Dana Olson
Public bug reported:

OK, in Dapper, if I enable the Screenreader option in the Assistive
Technology Preferences, gnome-panel (and epiphany) die unexpectedly at
certain times.

I can reproduce this by doing the following:
- Log on to GNOME desktop.
- Close Gnoppernicus (optional, doesn't change anything).
- Hit ALT+F2, type in xcalc or vncviewer and hit Enter.
- gnome-panel crashes.

Disabling the Screenreader and restarting GNOME shows this issue
disappears.

The desired behavior is that gnome-panel does not crash.

The other issue is that sometimes Epiphany just crashes too, but doesn't
if Screenreader is disabled.

[Bug 64724] When you create more than one user with users-admin, it creates only the users that was created in even positions

2006-10-09 Thread Mat
Public bug reported:

I have created 10 users, which are named poste01, poste02 .. poste10 in the
System - administration - users and groups dialog. When it was done, I had
the whole list of users in the left. The I closed the window, opened a terminal
and then I discovered that the user poste01 was not created, although the
/home/poste01 was already created.
The I reopened the users and groups dialog, and I saw that only poste02,
poste04, poste06, poste08 and poste10 were created. I tried to add poste01

[Bug 55072] Clock applet install NTP not recognized

2006-10-09 Thread Kenneth P. Turvey
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure this is gnome-panel or gnome-panel2. I'm just taking a
guess. I'm running dapper for the x86_64 platform.

Problem: the time applet doesn't recognize when you have installed the
required NTP packages to synchronize the time periodically.

To reproduce on a system without NTP installed:

1) Right click on time applet
2) Select adjust time and date
3) Select Periodically synchronize clock with Internet servers.
4) You are prompted to install the NTP packages or cancel, choose to install.
5) When the install is over try clicking on Periodically synchronize clock
with Internet servers.. You will again be prompted to install the NTP
packages.

Workaround: Simply close the dialog and right click on the time applet
again. You will now be able to click on the Periodically synch
checkbox.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'gnome-
panel2'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

2006-10-09 Thread Martin Bergner
This has not been fixed with the 1:6.10+20060924 release (which
according to the date should contain the fix), and now I wonder if that
is correct. But generating the .mo file from the de.po file downloaded
with apt-get source xchat-gnome works correctly.

So I guess that's just another lang-pack update?

I have this exact same bug at the moment. I did an aptitude upgrade on my

on it :( showing the same error message as above.
I have tried re-configuring a few packages but still the problem. I don't
think a blanket reinstall is an elegant solution and will not help some people
so I'll continue to try find the root cause.

[Bug 64809] Gaim should refresh status for all accounts when returning from hibernate

2006-10-09 Thread Kristoffer Lundén
Public bug reported:

When hibernating with Gaim active, and then resuming later, Gaim looks
and behaves as if it has active connections and is connected to the
network - however, it may just display how it looked when hibernate was
invoked.

Eventually, it will come around and update its status by itself, but
I've seen this take up to about 20 minutes for an account before it
notices that it isn't still connected and refreshes. During this time,
there is no indication that the user is not in fact connected and
available, unless a message is attempted. Very undiscoverable.

The only workaround (apart from closing and starting Gaim) is to
manually set status to Offline, then back to Available/Away etc.

Solution: The system should notify Gaim that it should refresh its
status, in some appropriate way. Perhaps upstart could simply tell Gaim
to refresh all accounts via dbus or something like that, or maybe a
small, active-by-default plugin could be added.

Posting bug here in the first place, because best solution for Ubuntu
may be upstart-specific.

[Bug 40795] Re: cannot create printers in live system

2006-10-09 Thread Till Kamppeter
In the current state of Edgy, foomatic-db-engine is fixed, so that CUPS
does not list any printer/driver combos any more for which no PPD file
is available. So for an installed system, update foomatic-db-engine (and
also foomatic-db, or better do a full sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get
dist-upgrade as many other printing bugs got fixed, too), then remove
your non-working print queue(s) and re-create it/them. For further tests
on a live CD, try to get the newest ISOs (I hope there are already ISOs
with the stuff which got uploaded last week).

[Bug 64623] Gnome-terminal fails to start when Xinerama enabled with nvidia-glx

2006-10-09 Thread Matthew Haughton
Public bug reported:

When Xinerama is enabled when using the proprietary nvidia drivers,
gnome-terminal fails to start. When run from an alternative terminal
(konsole), the error is:

The program 'gnome-terminal' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 105 error_code 2 request_code 78 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I've tried several combinations of xorg.conf with both open-source nv
and proprietary nvidia drivers. Each combination worked with gnome-
terminal, except when xinerama was enabled.

When I tried commenting xinerama out of my otherwise working xinerama
enabled xorg.conf, gnome-terminal worked. Uncommenting xinerama meant
that it would not start.

[Bug 64771] Re: evolution crashes since last edgy update

2006-10-09 Thread Francisco Javier F. Serrador
I'm still having this issue. I'm using edgy, evolution 2.8.1-0ubuntu1

The crash happens when accessing to my Courier IMAP server. I think
gnome-keyring is not the problem.

Running evolution with --disable-eplugin flag still crashes

Here I post you a evolution --debug log
