[Bug 26921] The desktop panels flip after logout

2006-10-10 Thread Freysteinn Alfredsson
Public bug reported:

Explanation: The Gnome desktop panels flip after logout.

Steps: Using the default settings, move the bottom panel to the top, and place
it under the top panel. Logout and login again. Then the panels are flipped. The
panels are both still on the top of the screen, but the panel that was on top,
is now under the bottom one.

Image of problem:

[Bug 35434] SVGs with duplicate IDs cause Nautilus/eog to crash

2006-10-10 Thread William Grant
Public bug reported:

Attempting to render an SVG which attempts to use a duplicate ID
causes the application to crash (Nautilus, eog, whatever). The following
code,for example triggers the bug:

svg
defs
polygon id=buggy /
/defs

g id=buggy
use xlink:href=#buggy /
/g
/svg

That code is bad and wrong, but shouldn't cause a segfault in the
calling application! It took quite some time to work out that it was in
fact that problem causing Nautilus to be unable to start (I had an
offending SVG on my desktop).

Should be pretty easy to fix, I think.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'librsvg2';
however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

[Bug 65001] Re: Nautilus terminates itself when deleting a folder

2006-10-10 Thread Vassilis Pandis
With what version of nautilus is this? Do you mean that you select the
folder in the side pane, right click, send to trash and then nautilus
crashes? I cannot reproduce this with nautilus 2.16.1-0ubuntu2. Also,
please install the nautilus-dbg package and in a terminal, type 'gnome-
session-remove nautilus gdb nautilus'. Then follow the instructions
after step 2 of http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace to get a backtrace of
the crash (it's quite vital to spotting the problem). Thanks for

[Bug 63715] Re: Crash when opening Exchange inbox

2006-10-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for the work on that. It looks like the issue might be due to libsoup
or gnutls, could you install libsoup2.2-8-dbgsym (it should be available
tomorrow) and libgnutls13-dbg and get a new backtrace with gdb:
gdb evolution-exchange
(gdb) run

After that we should have all the required informations, sorry for the
extra work required to install the debug packages etc, we are working to
get automatic debug backtraces without having to ask users to install
packages and get new backtraces, etc

[Bug 65039] Beryl chokes Intel 945 with new kernel

2006-10-10 Thread Stephen English
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded with the kernel packages released yesterday
(2006-10-09). I'm running a core 2 duo laptop with an Intel 945GM
graphics card. Previous to this apt-get upgrade Beryl ran beautifully,
now when I activate it my machine is slowed down by thousands of syslog
entries being appended per second:

i915_emit_cmds(nnn) Where nnn is a number normally 369, 374, 265, 359,
362 and possibly others. I can't identify a pattern.

[Bug 65045] Menu item to duplicate cd

2006-10-10 Thread Jonh Wendell
Public bug reported:

It would be interesting if sound juicer has a menu item (under 'disc'
menu) that duplicate the cd, by calling nautilus-cd-burner.

When cd is inserted, sound juicer is opened, giving you the ability to
listen and to rip it.

If i want to make a 'backup' copy of my audio cd, i have to click on cd
icon on desktop and choose 'copy disc' option.

If sound juicer has just a shortcut to this feature (provided by
nautilus-cd-burner), the user would have all things he could do on a
audio cd centralized.

Was i clear?

[Bug 64330] Keyboard Layout Changes in Console

2006-10-10 Thread Onur Gumus
Public bug reported:

Hello, I am using HP NX7010 with Turkish Q keyboard Layout and most of
the things work flawlessly except one strange issue I encountered today
within Dapper Drake 6.06 with Gnome

* I open up a console (gnome-terminal) , and type Turkish letters it
works fine

* Then I type man tail and I see manual page for tail command. But at
a point I see some strange letters (-f parameter)

* Finally I quit from man page and drop back to console. I see my
turkish letters are displayed incorrectly.

This happens only within that console's context. If I close it and
reopen it everything works fine. I know that this is a very minor issue.
Nevertheless I still see some benefit in posting it here

[Bug 65049] Evolution hangs when marking a folder as read

2006-10-10 Thread Chris Rose
Public bug reported:

Evolution will hang when marking all mail in a folder as read
(sometimes). The GUI is unresponsive and dosen't redraw. CPU and disk
usage is normal. It seems to be more prone to folders with large mail in
it than others, but I have had it happen on folders with only text mail.

I have to kill evolution to close it. Reopening evo, the mail in the
folder will not be marked as read.

[Bug 65049] Re: Evolution hangs when marking a folder as read

2006-10-10 Thread Chris Rose
I can reproduce this now. If your looking at a folder and it says:

Refreshing folder (...)

in the status bar and you mark the same (not sure about others) folder
as read, it will hang.

I have a large volume of mail (~1gb) however I've waited ~30 minutes
before and its still hung. I don't remember it happening with evo on
Dapper.

[Bug 65077] card reader no longer works

2006-10-10 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

Hi, my card reader used to work fine on Dapper but it doesn't on Edgy.

The card itself seems to be detected, you can see the message I get on
the system log:

Oct 10 15:27:20 david-laptop kernel: [17184713.016000] tifm_7xx1: sd
card detected in socket 3

Oct 10 15:29:08 david-laptop kernel: [17184821.208000] tifm_7xx1: demand
removing card from socket 3

But when I try to open it...

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ fdisk -l /dev/sd?
No se puede abrir /dev/sda (/dev/sda can't be opened)

Of course, the card is not mounted and Nautilus doesn't show the drive.

[Bug 65080] Graphical install: GParted modifying partition table leads to Windows Bluescreen on boot

2006-10-10 Thread ekmek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

I recently installed ubuntu with the graphical installer on a Thinkpad
R50p. Everything went fine so far, but when trying to boot Windows again
through Grub, i immediately got a bluescreen with a STOP 0x007B
(inaccessible boot device). Even the Windows Setup and recovery console
won't recognize the hdd as a valid disk.

After several re-installations and tests i was able to track the error. The
steps to reproduce, starting on a disk with one NTFS partition (taking full
size).
1. I first resized the Windows (NTFS) partiton to make space, rebooted to
Windows, after a chkdsk, everything was ok.
2. I then rebooted the Ubuntu Live-CD and started gparted. There i created an
extended partition and two logical volumes (ext3, swap).
3. Rebooting to windows (no Grub yet installed) brought up the same behaviour
(bluescreen on boot).

A workaround to resolve the issue without killing the whole disk or
reinstalling Windoze:
- Boot a live-cd with qtparted (Knoppix, Kanotix), start qtparted
- Delete all logical and extended partitions
- Create an extended partition and the logical volumes
- Apply and reboot

I'm not that in to disk editing, so I wasn't able to examine the
partition table to tell what's the difference between gparted and
qtparted on creating extended partitions, but there must be something
messing up the partition table (for Windows).

If you need any further information, please contact me.
