[Bug 35324] Upgrade Breezy to D5: menu à l a carte, restricted access
Public bug reported: Hi I upgraded from Breezy to Dapper Flight 5 and, from menu à la carte, I cannot access the 2 first items of System menu: preference and admin (I'm not sure about the wording, because, as I said in another bug report, some icons come with no text). This means I cannot select what I want in these 2 major menus. ** Affects: alacarte (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: Needs Info -- Upgrade Breezy to D5: menu à la carte, restricted access https://launchpad.net/bugs/35324 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 44196] Re: gnome-cups-icon uses 100% CPU
Hi, We really could use a fix for this one: it is grabbing 1/4 of the processing power on our customers application server, and putting load up to 25. It is effectivly limiting the number of users we can deploy onto that server to ~20, instead of 30+. We are planning to put a load balancer / failover system in, which (for the short term at least) would solve it, but thats Phase 2 of the install, and we're still completing Phase 1. Realisticaly, we can't move this system from Dapper to Edgy, as it is critical to their buisness, it needs to be on the more stable platform. For the record: Edgy's version caches the registered plugins and their ranks in ~/.gstreamer-0.10/registry*.xml, thus the registration functions are not even called if it's cached and the dynamic rank registration does not become active. Sebastien: is the panel locked down? In that case the bug won't work. Some things I suggest checking, assuming that the patch is accepted: * is there a better way to detect if a menu is open other than detecting a grab * is the comment accurate (is there a grab only if a menu is open) * is there a named constant that can be used instead of 2 to refer to the middle mouse button, to make the code self-documenting. ** Attachment added: fix the bug http://librarian.launchpad.net/4823640/gnome-panel.patch -- [edgy] middle clicking doesn't close menu https://launchpad.net/bugs/65574 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: (Rewritten to be more accurate) In Edgy, it seems that entering Unicode characters directly using their code points (e.g., Control+Shift+u) does not work for xterm or emacs-snapshot-gtk. I can almost see it for xterm, because that is not a GNOME application, but emacs-snapshot-gtk integrates pretty well and it would seem that I should be able to insert characters like “ and ” into it without issue. In either application, when I press Control+Shift+u, I get a system beep, and future numeric keypresses are registered as Shift+number.
