Public bug reported: I have an HP DeskJet 952C printer I set up with the normal GNOME print manager. It's ignoring all of my settings related to color, though. The Advanced setting tab offers the following settings: *PageRegion (Letter) *Resolution, Quality, Ink Type, Media Type (Controlled by 'Printout Mode' *Printout Mode (Draft Grayscale) With the above settings, the resulting test page (from 'Print a Test Page') is full color. I can change to Resolution, Quality, Ink Type, Media Type setting to '300dpi, Draft, Grayscale, Black + Color Cartr.' and print the test page again, but it still prints color. [Bug 74166] Problems with changing default sound card in Sound caplet
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Scenario: I have two sound cards, built-in one and second multichannel (ice1712 based). There are two possibilities : - You can simply change the status for this bug and mark it completed - Ask someone to move it as a Wish for gparted As I said, Ubuntu can be installed on a LVM without any problem but with the "alternate" cdrom instead of the "desktop" cdrom. [Bug 72600] Re: GParted does not recognize my LVM partitions
Thanks Stephane, I went to the GParted project features page http://gparted.sourceforge.net/features.php and ther is no indication of support for Logical Volume Manager(LVM). A seperate toolset is probably required to detect and work with LVM partitions. If this is the case, then it would be appropriate to have an LVM detection utility when analyzing the partitioning scheme. An advanced option maybe? I ended up blowing everything away and starting from scratch. Its a great way to learn :-) I would prefer to use LVM 2 for my linux partitions because it provides more flexability. However, that will have to wait until either GParted supports it or I can figure out how to do it in Ubuntu. Interestingly enough, with my re-install I did see an option that would allow me to use/create an LVM. So, as long as Ubuntu is my first linux install, I may be able to create an LVM from a single linux primary partition. I will try that next time. In any case, this time I just used the following primary and extended partitions: [hda0,1]- 1st primary partition is windows. Formatted as FAT32(VFAT) with Logical block Addressing(LBA). Linux can read and write to FAT32 and GRUB works with LBA to boot beyond the 1024 cylinder limitation. Note that older drives do not support LBA. [hda0,2]- 2nd primary partition is for the shared swap partition which is located at the end of the drive for enhanced performance. This is only true for newer drives. [hda0,3]- 3rd primary partition is the extended partition. [hda0,5]- 1st logical partition for the 1st Linux distribution: Ubuntu [hda0,6]- 2nd logical partition for the 2nd Linux distribution: Fedora Core [hda0,7]- 3rd logical partition for the 3rd Linux distribution: openSUSE [hda0,8]- 4th logical partition for FAT32 shared media for all OS's. I installed winxp first, followed by Ubuntu 6.10. Ubuntu saw all the partitions this time and I was able to install it properly. I installed Fedora core afterwards and it installed fine as well. The only regret with this install was that I did not create a shared /boot partition. If that was the case I would not have had to manually edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst file under Ubuntu. Once I found the "gksudo nautilus" it was a breezebut before that, trying to figure out how to edit config files under Ubuntu was turning into a nightware =:-O So I am not sure wether I am supposed to "close" or "complete" this now. Who is responsible for changing the "status"? [Bug 60341] Re: gnome-terminal window loses title
Well, I found what the cause of the problem is in my particular case. On the following diff between /etc/skel/.bashrc and ~/.bashrc, which I attached some days ago, the bug disappears when I uncomment the line: PROMPT_COMMAND='history -a' @@ -70,3 +70,13 @@ if [ -f /etc/bash_completion ]; then . /etc/bash_completion fi + +# Append entries to the history file for each new shell +shopt -s histappend +# The contents of this variable are executed as a regular Bash command +# just before Bash displays a prompt. This appends the history entries +# for all open shells +PROMPT_COMMAND='history -a' + +# Export the local repository root +export CVSROOT=/home/dpm/cvsrepo After doing that, I no longer get a static "Terminal" title bar text, but it gets updated with the output of the current command as expected. So the vim thing was just a red herring, I believe. What was happening, I think, was that on the initial launch of gnome- terminal, the title bar was not being set and the "Terminal" default was being used. When using vim, it set the titlebar text to the name of the file being edited, and when exiting vim, the title bar was updated to nothing. So this is either a problem with bash or gnome-terminal, I think. But considering that Santiago is using zsh and also experiencing this problem, I'd be more inclined to think that this is a problem with gnome-terminal. IIRC, on Dapper gnome-terminal was not showing this problem. I might try later on with a Dapper LiveCD if this was the case. ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info => Unconfirmed -- gnome-terminal window loses title https://launchpad.net/bugs/60341 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
