Ok, I've just removed gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 and gstreamer0.10 -fluendo-mpegdemux just for testing. [Bug 73744] Re: rhythmbox is slow!
Reported by 'top'. Ok, I know it's not the best method. I've got some complex math software, I tried to run with niced to +10 or such (to avoid r.box to glitch by lacking enough cpu time slice), and discovers that time needed to compute somehing grows while running r.box as well compared to the situation when r.box is not running or not playing anything (also done witth just gst-launch-0.10 playbin). [Bug 32302] Re: Duplicate printers listed when adding HP printer
This really cannot be considered a bug of HPLIP, it is a problem of the printer setup tools. See the 4th comment in this bug report, from Pascal De Vuyst at 2006-02-28 21:46:06 CET: You see the printer twice as it is once directly detected by CUPS through its usb backend and once via HPLIP via the hp CUPS backend. If you run lpinfo -v or use the CUPS web interface (http://localhost:631/admin/) you will also see two entries for your printer. In the CUPS web interface you can clearly distinguish the two entries, all printer setup tools should do so, as it can always happen that more than one CUPS backend can be suitable for one and the same printer. The printer setup tools should also recommend the hp backend over usb because it supports the special features of HP printers. gnome-cups-manager is not maintained any more and will be replaced by printerdrake. printerdrake suppresses the non-HPLIP entry. [Bug 73744] Re: rhythmbox is slow!
Well, top only reports cpu usage in the exact moment of measurement or at least something very similar to this... i.e. you could even get 100% cpu usage by a app that is sleeping most of the time. A better way would be something like gkrellm's cpu usage graph or just the cpu time of the progress compared to the real running time. So could you please start rhythmbox, play music for a defined amount of time and report what the time column of top says (and how long you played music). -- rhythmbox is slow! https://launchpad.net/bugs/73744 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

pitti Riddell: hm, in dapper's hal there's only a 'policy at_console=true' policy for the Mount methods, no 'group=plugdev' as in edgy pitti Riddell: so it actually appears that it should fail the same way with dapper final's hal pitti Riddell: the curious thing is that they claimed that downgrading to 18.1 from dapper-proposed fixed it pitti Riddell: but 18.2 is the same as 18.1, just uploaded to dapper-updates -- jonh_wendell hat sich getrennt (Client Quit) Riddell pitti: the kubuntu.org kde 3.5.5 archive has a modified version of 0.5.7-1ubuntu18.1 pitti Riddell: aah, that explains it then pitti Riddell: so reverting the hal fix in ubuntu would not fix it at all then So the SRU is ok as it is. -- hal does not detect non-ATAPI CD-ROM drives https://launchpad.net/bugs/56484 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
