[Bug 76093] Nautilus crashes when launching home folder while nfs share is present on desktop.

2006-12-17 Thread Richard Marzan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This crash has occurred on a regular basis. I'm usually running some
java apps which makes my CPU peak at 20% CPU utilization. This problem
occurs more often when filesystems are mounted and present on the
desktop. NFS, NTFS, FAT32, or ISO9660. The problem occur when attempting
to open the home folder from the desktop. Shortly after a single click
of the folder, the app seems to almost be ready to generate to the
screen, I hear the hard disk increase speed and see cpu usage percentage
rise and nothing. Within the next 10 seconds i get a bug report applet,
and nautilus respawns. Version of nautilus is: 2.16.1. Running ubuntu
linux 2.6.17-10-386 edgy eft.

[Bug 64258] Re: HR matroska playback very slow

2006-12-17 Thread amnesia
I have no feisty yet, will come back to this when I do.

How can I get more info on the actual codec? Totem seems to have taken a
step back, I don't have a properties menuitem anymore where the
resolution/codec were advertised. Hmm maybe I could use mplayer for that
aswell, but AFAIK mplayer only tells me what it is using to decode the
file (like ffmpeg).

[Bug 59580] Re: Dictionary Panel applet results window poorly sized

2006-12-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
From the upstream bug;

the 2.14 behaviour was fixed in 2.16; unfortunately, for size constraints, I
can't make the dialog grow past half the screen size (as you can see in the
first attached screenshot).

as such, I have to mark it as WONTFIX, but if someone comes up with a better
sizing algorithm taking care of the screen size constraints I'll gladly REOPEN
the bug.

Marking the distribution task fixed, the GNOME 2.14 behaviour has been
fixed with GNOME 2.16 for edgy

2006-12-17 Thread Wireblue
In reply to Dylan McCall's comment:

If it's any consolation I experience the same artifacts on my computer

My system specs are as follows:

Re: [Bug 50783] Re: Gnumeric About box does not appear

2006-12-17 Thread John Brook
Hi,

The Gnumeric About box works fine now for me. However, I'm no longer
using Dapper (amd64), I've updated to Edgy (amd64). The Gnumeric
version I'm using is the edgy standard 1.7.0.

Gnumeric in Dapper was really quite flaky for me, there were a number
of weird issues. I mentioned the colour thing in the first bug report
email, another thing was formulas not being executed - they would just
appear as quoted text rather than as the calculated values I was
expecting. I never got to the bottom of it and Gnumeric in Edgy seems
a lot more stable and predictable.

[Bug 76177] allows mounting of partitions that are already mounted (corruption!)

2006-12-17 Thread Jerry Haltom

This bug may in fact be part of HAL.

Nautilus for me lists two volumes which I am allowed to mount: 245 MB
Volume and a 59.6GB Volume. Double clicking these icons in Nautilus
CORRUPTS MY DATA.

The 245 MB Volume is representative of /dev/sda2, which is in actuality

[Bug 63547] Re: The cd burning dialog can be closed, and does not ask for confirmation

2006-12-17 Thread Vincenzo Ciancia
Sebastian, I understand, but please understand that, at the time of this
bug report, I really had enough of it, I mean all the bugs I was
encountering in what was called a stable version.

If ubuntu and gnome developers don't accept that their real problem is
that their software has a lot more bugs than any other equivalent
software, no change will happen. And since I like gnome and ubuntu, I
would like to see a change happen :)

Sorry for bothering you all with these two comments, though.

Most applications which play with these sort of things do so by making
sure the declared size of the file system (which has to be read from the
file system) matches the actual size of the device. Otherwise, an
explicit EVMS meta-data check at the end of the original file system may
be fine.

+ Nautilus for me lists a volume which I am allowed to mount: 245 MB
+ Volume. Double clicking this icon in Nautilus CORRUPTS MY DATA.

The 245 MB Volume is representative of /dev/sda2, which is in actuality
- an EVMS volume which is ALREADY MOUNTED as /dev/evms/boot. The 59.6GB
- Volume is the first 59.6GB of a 400GB XFS file system which spans
- /dev/sda4 and a few different MD devices. This is ALREADY MOUNTED as
- /dev/evms/shares.
+ an EVMS volume which is ALREADY MOUNTED as /dev/evms/boot.

  This is DANGEROUS.

Hey John,

Thanks for the quick reply there. In the meantime I going to go ahead
and close this report as it seems to be working for you and it seems to
be working fine on Feisty here as well (however I am not 64bit). If you
feel that this is still an issue, I urge you to reopen this report.
Thanks again John.

The channel list dialog is only displayed if you don't have any channel
in our autojoin list.

Anyway, i recently commited the new channel list dialog. It will be
shipped in the futur 0.16 (should be released soon) and so in Feisty.

[Bug 76193] gnome-screenshot in Edgy crashes... but still works

If I use gnome-screenshot in Edgy Eft (regardless of whether I use it in

[Bug 76191] Song notification bubbles sometimes overlap

2006-12-17 Thread Trouilliez vincent
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

See attached screenshot.

Some times, when the notification bubble pops-up, it fails to delete the
previous bubble (it only goes away after the little 3 second delay or
so), instead of overwriting instantly. like it does in Edgy. So when the
n+1 bubble happens to be smaller than the n bubble, you see the two
bubbles overlap, not very tidy...

I played with RB a bit, and I have noticed that SOMETIMES, it works
fine, but most of the time, the bubbles will overlap.

In Edgy it works perfectly, bubbles never ever overlap, new bubbles
instantly overwrite the previous one.

I have n idea how to trouble shoot this problem

[Bug 63547] Re: The cd burning dialog can be closed, and does not ask for confirmation

2006-12-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ubuntu mostly ship upstream software, the same software than other
distribution, and the same bugs too. You would have faced that same bug
using fedora, suse, mandriva or debian when they shipped the same
version of GNOME. Your claim about the number of bugs compared to other
software isn't based on any fact and probably not true.

Do you know of any software which has no bug? Do you think that people
don't realize from the bug reports they get that their software has bugs
and that they need to accept that fact? Fixing bugs take time and
trying to explain to those guys they don't do a good job is not going to
make them work harder to fix your problem. You should better try being
constructive, make useful bug reports which make easier for people to
fix bugs and send patches maybe, that is going to make the software
better

[Bug 76201] gdmsetup crashes silently

2006-12-17 Thread Andrew Hunter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Tested in Feisty after upgrading from Dapper - Edgy - Feisty.

Running Login Window from Adminisration brings up a gksudo password box
and after the password is entered dies silently.

Attempted to run the target gksudo gdmsetup from terminal, with the
same result execpt the terminal never returned a prompt forcing me to
kill it.

I would rate the is bug as serious as it forces the user to find and
edit /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf-custom to access the settings.

I start gnome-screenshot with a keyboard shortcut.

I unchecked run_on_crash, and now everything seems to work fine.

If apport got a crash file for it, where would it be? There didn't seem
to be a visible crash this time.

So is this really a bug with Bug Buddy and not gnome-screenshot?
