[Bug 47426] Re: desktop files with Category=Science; don't show in the menus
I think the requirement for the 'Applications' category may have been fixed - packages such as kmplot seem to display in the menus without having this category. There's still a problem with displaying science packages, though - there isn't a science category! Would it be possible to add such a category in the Applications menu? Science apps currently get split between 'Education' and 'Other', which makes finding science applications more frustrating for users. I think all that's required is a small modification to applications.menu and to add a new science.directory file in /usr/share/desktop- directories/. [Bug 74070] Re: Google Calendar ics support
I am having the exact same issue on ubuntu edgy (fully updated)... evolution 2.8.1. Here's how you should be able to recreate the error: (1) Start evolution, (2) Switch to the calendar window. (3) Create a New Calendar, with these options... Type:On the Web, check Copy calendar contents locally, URL: webcal://www.google.com/calendar/ical/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/public/basic.ics (This is US National Holidays public Calendar). (4) On clicking Ok, the calendar will work fine... even on terminating and restarting evolution, the calendar works fine. (5) Now reboot your system and then restart evolution... switching to the calendar window should give you an error like this: Error on webcal://www.google.com/... cannot resolve hostname. I get six such error messages, one for each web calendar I am subscribed to. I guess the one thing that's common between the 6 calendars is that they are all google calendars... so it would be good to check if this happens with non-google web calendars as well. Here's another observation... I initially subscribed to 4 web calendars... and all 4 worked fine until I rebooted the system. Then I came to my home network (from work), and I got 4 error messages -- one for each calendar. Then I subscribed to 2 more calendars... and those worked fine. I kept getting only 4 error messages as long as I restarted evolution (without rebooting or logging off). But as soon as I rebooted the system, and started evolution (and switched to the calendar window), I got six error messages this time (still my home network). Any insights will be appreciated. [Bug 49221] Re: Unable to start applications after suspend/hibernation
I have this problem too, on an MSI 270, Sempron, i386. I've certainly had the problem in Dapper, possibly before, now in Edgy. I didn't report it, because I figured my report would surely be a duplicate... Blacklisting psmouse doesn't help; furthermore IIRC the pointer is consistent about moving after suspend. So I don't think it's a driver issue. Also keyboard works, I can switch VTs, etc. Furthermore, in Edgy at least, it's sometime inconsistent; once today for instance I could switch tabs in Firefox, but nothing else. That suggests it's not X. Does the time get reset every time you resume? My guess, talking through my hat, is that GNOME discards events with late-enough time stamps (as it probably should; if the system were so busy that it's getting ten-second-old mouseclicks, probably best to discard them.) But if the clock gets updated by ntpdate or hwclock, there might be a significant timeslip that's bolloxing things up. Just guessing. Indeed, I'll try commenting out the business end of /etc/acpi/resume.d/50-time.sh , (that is, the hwclock call), and see if that helps. (I am of course amazed that suspend-to-RAM works as well as it does; the fact that it does is probably why this sort of thing is actually evident :) -- Unable to start applications after suspend/hibernation https://launchpad.net/bugs/49221 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 77949] I want Evolution to removed deleted mails fom server
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Dear Sirs, I've just made the migration from XP to Linux/Ubuntu and I am definitively staying here! Much more fun to work with, very smooth operation and I'm incredibly impressed with the community! Anyway, as the summary implies, the feature of outlook which removes messages from the server when they are removed from the trashcan is dearly missed. Since I need to check older mail by webmail frequently, I'd really wish that you could adopt that feature. Will it be added? [Bug 59991] Re: crashed while using gwget
It seems only to happen when Gwget already shows a tooltip and wants to show an other one. On Gwget startup, it brings up a tooltip with the text Gwget. If you leave that one open and a download finishes, Gwget wants to show that in another tooltip - crash. I presume it is also a bug in Gwget, although of course the panel shouldn't crash when an other app is buggy... Just my notice. -- crashed while using gwget https://launchpad.net/bugs/59991 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 77991] user security compromised when switching users
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Hi, Along similar lines to 48450 and 47005 - when I lock my session, it is possible for another users to then switch to their account, and upon logging in X appears to crash, restart, and then the default login screen reappears however with a nautilus window open showing the home directory of the previously (original) logged in user, with the ability to navigate freely within it.. I have reproduced this many times myself i.e. it was not a freak occurrence. Sometimes it coincides with Mozilla crashing out and asking to start or restore, and my system was an upgrade from Dapper not a fresh install. Hope someone can plug this!!!
